Chapter 217 - Chapter 217: Let’s See Who the Unlucky One Is

Zhang Yang put down his phone and took a deep breath. In France, the safest place was none other than the Enforcement Bureau.

"If I were Victor, I'd definitely pick the Enforcement Bureau."

After thinking things through, Zhang Yang came up with two plans.

The first was to intercept the transport vehicles on the road before they reached the Bureau and stop the collection from being delivered.

The second was to sneak into the Enforcement Bureau ahead of time and wait for the treasures to be brought in.

After weighing the risks, Zhang Yang decided to lie in wait inside the Bureau.

"Intercepting them on the road is just as risky as breaking into the Bureau. If they react quickly and form a perimeter, that'll be a huge problem."

If he tried to stop the transport en route, the Bureau and the police would respond instantly. Zhang Yang wasn't sure how long it would take to locate the Imperial Jade Seal of Empress Dowager Tianyuan. Maybe he'd get away before they reacted, or maybe he'd get surrounded.

Right now, the artifacts in Subier's vault were being moved one by one into the Enforcement Bureau's van.

To avoid attracting attention, they didn't even bring an escort. Only Victor, Bruce, and Harrison accompanied the transfer.

"Mr. Subier, once the items are delivered to the Bureau, we'll come back with reinforcements and set up the trap in your estate."

As the black van's rear door closed, Victor gave Subier a firm reminder.

"During this period, don't make any sudden moves. We can't give Kaitō Kid any reason to be suspicious. Just stay put in the estate."

Subier glanced at the van and gave a slow nod.

Right now, nothing mattered more than the safety of his collection.

Then the three got into the vans and drove off. The two black vans rolled steadily out of the estate.

When they passed the crowd near the gates, Victor scowled at the fans who'd gathered.

"Shit! These people have way too much free time. Kaitō Kid's a major criminal, and they're acting like he's a celebrity!"

Thanks to the on-site agents clearing the path, the vans finally made it through.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yang had already arrived at the main gate of the French Enforcement Bureau.

This place was the equivalent of the FBI headquarters in the Eagle Nation. Sneaking in wasn't going to be easy. Even the ID system at the front gate was strict enough that anyone lacking real skills wouldn't stand a chance.

"Let's see who the unlucky one is."

Zhang Yang got out of the car, crossed the road, and scanned the people going in and out of the main entrance.

With his Enhanced Senses, especially his vision, far sharper than an average person's, Zhang Yang quickly noticed the Bureau's entry system only required a keycard swipe and facial recognition.

For him, that was no big deal. All he needed to do was steal a keycard from one of the agents and disguise himself accordingly. Then he could walk right in.

Zhang Yang crossed the street and headed toward the Bureau building.

As he brushed past someone, he slipped his hand out like lightning and lifted the keycard from their pocket.

Then, using the photo on the card, he morphed his appearance to match.

"Chert, Level 2 Enforcement Bureau agent."

Zhang Yang held the card to the scanner, passed facial recognition, and walked through the gate without a hitch.

Inside, everyone looked busy, barely paying attention to their surroundings. That worked perfectly for Zhang Yang.

Half an hour later, he saw two black vans pull up outside the building. Dozens of agents rushed out from inside.

The entry system was even temporarily shut down to clear the way for the transfer.

"Victor sure has a lot of pull inside the Bureau."

Zhang Yang sat on the lounge sofa, watching the agents bustling outside.

The two black vans were parked right at the entrance. Victor and the others got out and started directing the team as they unloaded the items one by one.

"The Imperial Jade Seal of Empress Dowager Tianyuan!"

Zhang Yang's eyes lit up. He immediately spotted one of the agents carrying it.

Everyone in the Enforcement Bureau was deliberately avoiding the transfer team. They weren't just clearing the way—they were keeping their distance on purpose.

To avoid being spotted, Zhang Yang exchanged for a tracking device.

It was about the size of a sunflower seed. Not only could it track location, but it could also pick up nearby sounds.

He flicked the tracker with precision, sticking it right onto one of the agents.

Then he turned around and put on his monocle.

"Start tracking."

As soon as Zhang Yang gave the command, the monocle showed the tracker's exact location. A 3D map of the building popped up, and the dot began moving steadily upward.

"Putting all their eggs in one basket... Are they really this confident in the Bureau's security?"

Zhang Yang noticed the elevator didn't stop on any floors. It went straight to the twelfth.

Which meant they were storing all the artifacts in the same place.

Zhang Yang was only after the Imperial Jade Seal of Empress Dowager Tianyuan. He had no interest in the rest of the collection.

But if this had been any other master thief, the whole vault might be cleaned out.

Once the last item was taken off the van, Victor, Bruce, and Harrison followed behind, stepping into the elevator and heading upstairs.

There was a vault on the twelfth floor. It stored all kinds of high-level files and documents—basically the top secrets of France.

It was almost as sensitive as nuclear codes. No wonder Victor was so confident.

Right now, the agents handling the artifacts were waiting in the hallway. They didn't have clearance to enter the vault, so they had to wait for Victor to unlock the door and lead them inside.

"This is the most secure place in the Bureau. Even if Kaitō Kid finds out our plan, he'll never get in!"

The heavy steel door creaked open with a deep rumble.

Whether it was secure or not was still up for debate, but that door definitely sounded solid.

At the end of a straight corridor was the vault entrance.

But the hallway itself was no joke. It was rigged with facial recognition along the entire path, plus infrared sensors and laser defense systems.

Anyone who stepped in without the right clearance would instantly trigger the lasers and be hit with a precision strike.

The facial recognition scanned every inch of the corridor, so anyone sneaking in would be exposed the whole way.

"Bruce, Harrison, our vault is the safest place for these items!"

Victor sounded proud.

Back on the first floor, Zhang Yang heard Victor bragging and couldn't help but shake his head with a laugh.

If Victor's words were anything to go by, the Bureau's vault was pretty much impenetrable.

And the twelfth floor was packed with high-ranking agents, all at Victor's level or higher.

Making a big move up there would definitely get noticed.

Zhang Yang tapped his thigh and smiled.

"Looks like it's time to change the plan."
