Yet in Yukika's version of events, Danzo had turned into a fearless ninja who would rather die than be taken alive.

But Yukika's words were clearly intended to provoke him. As for Danzo's safety?

"I don't believe it," Yukika said coolly. "You think you can capture our Lord Danzo? Maybe in your next life."
"Konoha has only the heroic, fallen-in-battle Shimura Danzo—not some coward who scrapes by to survive."

Ebizō struggled to get back on his feet. "Just you wait until I return."

Ebizō left the Konoha camp in a rush, stumbling and scrambling until he finally made it back to Sunagakure's temporary outpost.
"What happened to you?"
In the camp, Chiyo stared at her brother's bruised face in confusion.
Clearly, he had been beaten.
Could it be that someone from Konoha had laid a hand on him?
Furious, Chiyo slammed her hand on the table and stood up.
"No, sis," Ebizō panted, shaking his head. "Where's Danzo?"
"In the back. Didn't you know that already?" Chiyo frowned.
Ebizō didn't explain. He rushed into the adjacent room, where a certain someone sat calmly in a chair.
Danzo was waiting for Konoha to come rescue him.
Given how important he was to Hiruzen Sarutobi, there was no way they'd abandon him.
Of course, that wasn't out of friendship.
Danzo possessed too many Konoha secrets. If they leaked to other ninja villages, the consequences would be catastrophic.
Hiruzen would definitely rescue him.
That's why Danzo wasn't worried. In fact, he was feeling a bit smug.
Sure, he was a prisoner—but not just any prisoner.
"Did you get what you needed?"
"Then release me," he said, narrowing his eyes at Chiyo and speaking in a commanding tone.
But in the next second, his expression changed drastically.
Ebizō grabbed a large cleaver and handed it to his sister.
"Sis, take off his arm! Let's give those Konoha bastards a lasting memory!"
