DRAGON LORD THERON POV
The girl was literally at war with herself.
"We have to help her," I said.
"How?" Seraphina asked. "She's beyond our reach now."
That's when I noticed Jaxon. The middle triplet was standing apart from his brothers, looking at Aria with tears in his eyes.
"It's my fault," he whispered. "I used shadow magic to try and force the mate bond. I opened the door for the darkness to get in."
"Jaxon," I said, walking over to him. "Look at me."
He turned, and I saw the guilt eating him alive.
"You want to fix this?" I asked.
"More than anything."
"Then you need to trust me. What I'm about to do will either save her or kill us both."
"What are you talking about?"
I put my hand on his shoulder. "I'm going to give you my dragon fire. All of it."
"That's insane," Kael said. "Dragon fire will burn him alive."
"Not if he's strong enough to control it. And not if he has the right drive."
"What motivation?"
