Chapter 4 - Chapter (4): A Centaur’s Concern

Chapter 4: A Centaur's Concern

The shop was quiet for once, the morning rush having slowed to a trickle. J.J. leaned against the counter, organizing a fresh batch of bandages, when the door creaked open with a slow, deliberate groan.

Aedica filled the doorway, literally. Towering over the threshold, she ducked her head to step inside, bronze armor still strapped to her frame. The moment she crossed the threshold, she locked the door behind her with a heavy, deliberate clop. Hoofbeats echoed on the wooden and stone floor as she moved toward him, each step shaking the shelves just slightly.

J.J. looked up from behind the counter, a smile already spreading across his face.

Aedica stopped in front of him, her hazel eyes scanning the shop before settling on him. "How's your day been so far?"

J.J. shrugged. "Busy. Had a few patients, met a Kitsune who owns the potion shop next door. She seems… interesting."

Aedica's ears twitched slightly, though her expression stayed neutral. "Interesting how?"

J.J. grinned. "Competitive. Playful. She's got nine tails and a sharp tongue."

Aedica huffed, a small smirk tugging at her lips. "Sounds like trouble."

"Or fun," J.J. teased.

Aedica rolled her eyes but didn't press further. Instead, she began unbuckling her armor, the bronze plates clinking as she set them aside. Beneath it, her simple crisp linen blouse was see-through and soaked with sweat, clinging to her skin like a second layer. The top, valiantly buttoned, was waging a losing war against her enormous chest. Each breath threatened to send the buttons flying, the fabric stretched so tight across her bosom that it looked ready to give up entirely. The swell of her breasts was impossible to ignore, straining the seams, the curve of her cleavage on display in a way that was both unintentional and devastatingly distracting.

J.J. swallowed hard, his eyes flicking up to meet hers before he forced himself to focus on her face.

Aedica didn't seem to notice, or if she did, she didn't care. She stretched her arms over her head, the movement pulling the fabric even tighter, and let out a deep, satisfied sigh. "Gods, it's been a long morning."

J.J. cleared his throat. "Want some water?"

She nodded, and he hurried to fetch a cup from the shelf, filling it from the pitcher of cool water he kept behind the counter. He handed it to her, and she took it with both hands, tilting her head back as she drank deeply. Water dribbled down her chin, sliding down her neck and disappearing into the valley between her breasts. When she finished, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and let out another sigh.

J.J. watched as she stretched again, her arms lifting high, revealing the dark, thick hair beneath them. He couldn't help but stare, his pulse quickening. There was something so raw and real about her, so unapologetically herself.

"Your turn," he said, nodding toward her. "How was your day?"

Aedica shrugged. "Boring, mostly. Just the usual patrol routes, breaking up a few bar fights, that sort of thing."

J.J. climbed up onto the counter, sitting in front of her, his legs dangling over the edge. "Come on, tell me more. I want to hear about it."

Aedica smirked, but she gave in, leaning against the counter. "Fine. If you insist. Most of my morning was spent in the heat mines."

J.J. raised an eyebrow. "Heat mines?"

She nodded. "Yeah. They're deep underground, near the volcanic vents. The town uses them to power some of the forges and enchantments. It's brutal work, even for a centaur. The air's thick, the rocks are hot enough to burn if you're not careful, and the miners are a rowdy bunch."

J.J. nodded, imagining the sweltering heat, the way it would cling to the skin. No wonder she was so sweaty.

Aedica continued, her voice taking on a dry, amused tone. "Had to deal with a few idiots today. Some dwarf thought it'd be funny to 'accidentally' knock over a cart of smelting stones. Nearly started a riot. Then there was a pair of goblins trying to smuggle out some of the heated ore to sell on the black market. Caught them red-handed or red-hoofed, in my case."

J.J. chuckled. "Sounds like you had your hands full."

Aedica grinned. "You have no idea. And of course, the manager of the mines is always in a foul mood. Thinks she runs the place like a queen. I had to remind her politely, of course, that the guard captain outranks her."

J.J. laughed, shaking his head. "Only you could make 'politely reminding someone' sound like a threat."

Aedica's grin turned wicked. "Oh, it was."

As she spoke, her fingers moved to the buttons of her blouse. The fabric was sticky with sweat, and the sight of her bare, ginormous breasts was already visible through the thin, clinging material. But she undid the buttons anyway, one by one, until the blouse fell open, revealing her dark, hard nipples, already stiff from the heat and the attention.

J.J.'s breath hitched. He'd seen her breasts before, of course, but every time was like the first. They were massive, heavy, and full, the weight of them pulling them down just slightly, the dark areolas wide and inviting. The sight of them, glistening with a light sheen of sweat, was almost too much.

Aedica noticed his gaze and smirked. "Like what you see?"

J.J. swallowed. "You know I do."

She reached out, her fingers brushing against the front of his pants. "Then let me take care of you. You've had a long day too."

Before J.J. could respond, she had already freed his cock, her warm, calloused fingers wrapping around him. She didn't waste time. With a sly smile, she lifted her breasts, pressing them together to create a soft, warm valley. Then, without a word, she guided him between them, the wet, hot, sweaty flesh enveloping him in an instant.

J.J. groaned, his hands gripping the edge of the counter as she began to move, her chest rising and falling in a slow, deliberate rhythm. The sensation was incredible: the softness of her skin, the heat of her body, the way her breasts jiggled with each movement. He couldn't last long. Not with her like this.

"Damn, Aedica," he gasped, his hips bucking slightly. "That's, gods, that's too good."

She chuckled, the sound deep and throaty. "Then come for me, Julius. Let me feel you."

Her movements grew faster, her breasts sliding along his length with increasing urgency. J.J.'s breath came in ragged gasps, his body tensing as the pleasure coiled tighter and tighter inside him. And then, with a groan, he came, his cock pulsing as thick ropes of cum painted her chest, dripping down the curves of her breasts.

Aedica let out a satisfied hum, looking down at the mess she'd made. "There. That's better."

J.J. collapsed back against the shelves, his chest heaving. Aedica leaned in, capturing his lips in a deep, hungry kiss. Her tongue was warm, demanding, and J.J. melted into her, his hands finding her waist, pulling her closer.

When they finally broke apart, Aedica's eyes were dark with desire. "Now," she murmured, her voice husky, "let me turn around so you can . . ."

A sharp knock at the door cut her off.

Aedica froze, her ears twitching toward the sound. The knock came again, followed by a muffled voice. "Captain? You in there? The manager of the heat mines is raising hell. Says she wants to see you now."

Aedica's expression darkened. She let out a frustrated growl, low in her throat. "Of course she does."

J.J. watched as she reluctantly stepped back, her breasts still glistening with his cum. She grabbed her blouse, but instead of putting it on, she just sighed and reached for her armor.

J.J. hopped down from the counter and grabbed a towel from the shelf. "Here, at least . . ."

Aedica shook her head, taking the towel but not using it. "No point. I'm just going to get sweaty again."

She buckled her armor back into place, the bronze plates clinking as she secured them. Then, with a final, longing look at J.J., she stepped in close, cupping his face in her hands. She kissed him again, slow and deep, her lips lingering against his.

"I love you," she murmured against his mouth. "And I promise I'll make up for this later."

J.J. smiled, his heart swelling. "I'll hold you to that."

Aedica gave him one last, smoldering look before turning toward the door. She unlocked it and stepped out, her voice carrying back to him as she spoke to her guard. "I'm coming, I'm coming. Keep your pants on."

The door swung shut behind her, leaving J.J. alone in the shop once more. He let out a happy sigh, his body still humming from the encounter. Then, with a grin, he pulled his pants back up, just in time for the next customer to walk in.

--- After a good amount of time - - -

The shop settled into a late-afternoon lull, the air still carrying the faint, lingering scent of Liora's floral perfume and the sharp, ozone tang of the morning's magical healings. J.J. leaned back in his chair, staring at the door. His mind was a whirlwind of the day's events: the raw power of Aedica's affection, the predatory playfulness of the Kappa woman, the calculating grace of Sayuri, and the unexpected vulnerability of Liora.

He felt like a man who had walked into a storm and discovered he actually liked the rain. Well, to be honest, he always loved when it rained...

"Seraphina," he whispered, glancing up at the ceiling. "I'm starting to think you didn't just summon me to heal people. I think you summoned me to be a weird social experiment."

As if in response, a sudden, sharp gust of wind swept through the open door, rattling the jars of dried chamomile and sending a few stray parchments fluttering across the floor. J.J. jumped, nearly knocking over his tea.

Just as he regained his balance, the bell chimed again.

It wasn't a graceful glide or a confident strut this time. It was a heavy, rhythmic thud.

A woman stepped inside, and the entire room seemed to shrink. She was an orc, but not like the matron from the first day. This woman was a mountain of muscle, her skin a deep, weathered olive, scarred across her jaw and collarbone. She wore a heavy leather apron stained with oil and soot, and her platinum braids were tied back with a strip of rough twine.

This was the owner of Iron & Ember.

She didn't stop at the counter. She walked straight up to J.J., her presence looming over him like a thunderstorm. Her eyes were a piercing amber, scanning him with a blunt, honest intensity.

J.J. Stood. "Hi, you know I never got your name, and thanks again for ignoring me when I was exploring outside," He said to the older, mature Orc woman, the top of her leather apron still giving him a good look at her large, firm, mature orc cleavage, her olive mounds somewhat covered in a thin layer of drying sweat. The orc woman huffed out a laugh, deep and rough like an echoing forge. "That so? Well, kid, I'm Tyra HeartIron. And I'm here 'cause I ain't one for games."

J.J. blinked up at her, caught off guard by her directness. She was rougher than most of the women who had visited him today, her tone carrying the no-nonsense edge of someone who had spent years swinging hammers and cursing broken tools.

"O-Oh," he stammered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, um, you're welcome here, Tyra. What can I do for you?"

Tyra narrowed her eyes slightly, studying him like a puzzle she hadn't quite solved. Then she exhaled, as if making a decision.

"I been hearing things," she said, arms crossing over her broad chest. "Like how you got here. Like how you ain't from this part of the world or anywhere close to it."

J.J. stiffened. That was news. "Uh. I mean, yeah. I'm not from here."

Tyra nodded, like she expected as much. "Good. No point lying." She leaned against the counter, massive arms flexing slightly with the movement. "See, I know a thing or two about being out of place. Been here my whole life, but still feel like I'm holding onto something that ain't mine. So when I hear about a 'human' man popping into town outta nowhere, well..."

She fixed him with a look. "I figure you might be holding onto somethin' too."

J.J. swallowed. He had never told anyone outside of Aedica where he came from, not sure if he even believed it himself. But standing there, looking up at Tyra's towering presence, he felt something shift in his chest. Like she wasn't asking for gossip. "Yeah, I'm from very, very, very far away, to be honest with you, Ms. HeartIron. I know almost nothing about this place or any other place, and if you're willing, I'll happily take any advice you can give me, along with some friendship if you're willing. I have a feeling I might get lonely without anyone to talk to," he said, smiling up at her. Tyra huffed a laugh, shaking her head like she was surprised by her own reaction. Then she reached down and patted J.J. on the shoulder with enough force to nearly send him stumbling.

"That's more honesty than most people give me," she rumbled, her face softening just slightly at the edges. "Ain't got many friends who'd tell me straight up they got lost in life, either."

She sighed, rolling her shoulders. "But hell, you ain't wrong. You do look like you ain't quite sure what you're doing. And since you got yourself an oven mitt in that shop of yours, I figure you might as well learn from someone who knows their way around fire."

J.J. perked up immediately. "Wait, you mean actual, real fire? Like, the kind that doesn't burn me? I'm listening."

Tyra's laugh was rich and deep, echoing through the shop. "Boy, you're gonna get yourself killed if you ain't careful. Fire's got respect. Respects discipline." She leaned forward, voice dropping slightly. "You ever struck steel with a hammer?"

J.J. shook his head rapidly. "No, but I do have good instincts for knowing when to back away slowly from heat. I'm basically a professional retreat-er."

Tyra snorted. "Well, that ain't the same, but it's close enough." She paused, studying him, then nodded to herself like she'd made a decision. "Tell you what. You ever seen real forging done? Proper forging?"

J.J. nodded eagerly. "I've seen a little in movies, but never up close."

She raised an eyebrow, clearly having no idea what a ' movie ' is, but Tyra hummed, clearly pleased with his enthusiasm. "Then tomorrow. Come by Iron & Ember after the sun's high. I'll show you how it's done. No promises you won't burn yourself, but at least you'll learn something useful."

J.J. nodded again, "Thank you. I saw a few other people working in the back of your shop when I was out exploring. You have a lot of workers? Plus, I hope you showing me around won't mess with your business and all that." He said, taking another look at her deep cleavage before his eyes rose up to her tusks. Tyra huffed, her large hands resting on her hips as she shifted her stance. "Got a few apprentices," she rumbled, the deep timbre of her voice filling the small shop. "Most of 'em know what they're doin', but none of 'em got the right instincts for the fire." Her amber eyes flickered down to J.'tiny frame, then back up again, a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.

"As for my business, well... if I ain't hammerin' steel, I'm usually teachin'. Ain't no shame in that." She crossed her arms, making her impressive cleavage press together even more. "Besides, you seem like a quick learner. Might be worth the time." Her attention shifted, taking in the neatly arranged shelves and the faint herbal scent of J. J.'s shop.

"Tell ya what," she continued, stepping closer, her presence looming large. "You come by tomorrow, we'll start with the basics. You learn to handle a hammer without bruisin' your own fingers, maybe I'll let you strike something real. Might even let you forge a little something for yourself."

J. J. grinned, his eyes sparkling at the offer. "That sounds amazing! I've never made anything before, well, unless you count my terrible attempts at origami in high school."

Tyra chuckled, the sound like coals shifting in a forge. "Origami? That some kinda magic?" She shook her head, still amused. "No matter. You'll learn proper craftin' soon enough." She paused, her gaze flicking to the counter between them, then back to J. J. with a teasing glint.

"Tell ya what, kid. You manage not to burn yourself on your first day, maybe I'll even teach ya how to make a proper sword." "You think I need a sword?" he asked her, knowing that he was the only man around, surrounded by thousands of women all from different races, creeds, and backgrounds. "Maybe," he said, "Maybe I could make something else, anything good for a female centaur?" The orc smith's grin widened at that, showing a flash of blunt, strong teeth. "A gift for your centaur captain, eh? Smart man. Aedica's a good sort, tough as old iron but fair. A properly made set of horseshoes with a bit of enchantment would earn you serious favor."

She cracked her knuckles, the sound like small stones grinding together. "But let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, you learn to hold a hammer without dropping it on your foot. Then we'll talk about crafting gifts."

Tyra turned toward the door, her heavy footsteps making the floorboards groan. She paused at the threshold, glancing back over her broad shoulder. "Tomorrow. High sun. Don't be late, and don't bring that flimsy hat. You'll want something that won't catch fire."

And with that, she was gone, leaving J.J. standing in the middle of his shop, feeling a strange mix of excitement and nervousness about the prospect of learning to forge.

The shop grew quiet again, save for the soft hum of enchanted lanterns and the occasional creak of settling wood. J.J. sank back into his chair, letting out a long breath. His mind churned with the day's encounters: Aedica's fierce tenderness, the Kappa's bold tease, Sayuri's playful competition, Liora's quiet vulnerability, and now Tyra's gruff mentorship. Each one felt like a thread pulling him deeper into this world.

He reached for his teacup, only to find it empty. He stared at the dregs, thinking.

"One day," he murmured to himself. "One day in this world, and I already have a girlfriend, a business rival, a mysterious elf patient, and a blacksmith mentor. Seraphina really knew what she was doing when she picked me."
