The Powerful Third Raikage
Chi Yu pointed his ninja blade directly at Kitsuchi, announcing his entry into the chaotic battlefield.
Joining this clash would certainly earn him more recognition—but what Chi Yu truly desired was to face the legendary Third Raikage in battle.
Thus, although he had declared his challenge to Kitsuchi, Chi Yu ignored him and instead turned his attention toward the rampaging force of nature that was the Third Raikage.
> "Thunder Breathing, Fourth Form: Distant Thunder!"
Chi Yu's body crackled with electricity as he dashed forward at blinding speed, carving a path through the Iwagakure shinobi in his way.
The Third Raikage took immediate notice of the approaching youth.
> "Raikage-level, huh…"
The Raikage focused Lightning Release chakra into his hand, forming a blade-like weapon of pure energy, and swung it directly at Chi Yu.
The clash between Chi Yu's ninja blade and the Raikage's Lightning-Infused Hand created a deafening shockwave. Chi Yu was thrown backward several paces, struggling to absorb the sheer force of the attack. The Raikage, by contrast, remained rooted, his hand unscathed.
Chi Yu stabilized himself, exhilarated.
> "Incredible… You actually blocked my strike with your bare body, Raikage!"
The Third Raikage's eyes narrowed, gaze fixed on Chi Yu's Konoha forehead protector.
Understanding the look, Chi Yu wordlessly removed the headband and tucked it into his tool pouch.
> "I'm not here as a Konoha ninja," he declared. "Today, I fight in my personal capacity—to see you off with my own blade."
The Raikage grinned, lightning surging around him like a storm.
> "Brat, don't get cocky. Don't get yourself killed by the Iwa dogs before we finish our dance! That'd be pathetic."
> "You'd better worry about yourself, old man," Chi Yu snapped back, lightning sparking violently from his body. "Don't throw your back out mid-fight! I'm not letting anyone else claim your head!"
> "Miken Yake!"
Chi Yu's Mangekyō Sharingan spun to life in his right eye, beginning to record the Raikage's movements and chakra flow.
He then formed a rapid string of hand seals.
> "Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"
A sea of fire erupted from Chi Yu's mouth, engulfing the densely packed Iwa forces. Screams echoed as the inferno cleared a space on the battlefield.
In response, the Iwa shinobi began weaving hand seals for Earth Release. The ground trembled beneath Chi Yu and the Raikage—but before the jutsu could erupt, both combatants moved.
Whether by design or instinct, they passed through the ranks of Iwa troops, cutting down those in their path as they charged toward one another.
> "Heavy Stream Eruption!"
Lightning surged through the Raikage's elbow as he aimed a crushing strike at Chi Yu.
> "Thunder Breathing, Sixth Form: Electric Rumble and Thunderclap!"
Chi Yu spun in place, releasing waves of lightning-shaped slashes in all directions. The arcs of energy struck the Raikage, but he pressed forward undeterred, his elbow strike nearly catching Chi Yu under the chin.
Chi Yu evaded using the Body Flicker Technique, creating distance.
He touched his chin. It hadn't been hit—but it stung. If that elbow had landed, his jaw would've been obliterated.
The Third Raikage's Lightning Release Chakra Mode was even more formidable than he'd anticipated. And this wasn't even the Raikage's strongest form.
He hadn't yet activated his infamous strongest state—the version where he fought the Eight-Tails one-on-one and survived.
Chi Yu realized his standard attacks couldn't break through this monster's armor. Only Miken Yake, fully charged, might have a chance.
> "Your speed's decent, brat," the Raikage shouted, grinning. "But your strikes are weak! You'll never take my head at this rate!"
Chi Yu pointed his blade at him again.
> "The battle has only just begun. Let's see who's standing at the end."
> "Thunder Breathing, Fifth Form: Heat Boundary Thunder!"
Blades of superheated lightning rained down on the Raikage.
In response, the Raikage quickly formed hand seals.
> "Lightning Release: Black Panther!"
A panther-shaped mass of black lightning roared from the Raikage's hands, clashing with Chi Yu's slashes. The two types of lightning danced violently across the battlefield, arcs striking nearby Iwa ninjas and leaving them incapacitated.
Then the Raikage charged.
> "Liger Bomb!"
He leaped with devastating speed, preparing to slam Chi Yu into the ground.
> "Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall!"
Multiple earthen barriers erupted between them.
The Raikage smashed through them one by one like paper. The final wall exploded—the back had been rigged with a dozen explosive tags.
As the smoke erupted, Chi Yu made his move.
> "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Singing Technique!"
Four fire dragons howled through the battlefield, igniting the dust-filled air, consuming what little oxygen remained.
Out of the smoke charged the Third Raikage again, this time with three fingers extended.
> "Hell Stab: Three-Finger Spear!"
Chi Yu was ready. His Sharingan spun.
> "Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap Flash!"
Chi Yu vanished in a flash of movement, appearing right in front of the Raikage and narrowly dodging the spear. He swung his blade with all his might at the Raikage's neck—
And stopped cold.
The sword bounced off harmlessly.
Chi Yu's brow furrowed in disbelief.
Even at full power, he couldn't break the skin on the Raikage's neck.
No. This wasn't just resilience—this was inhuman.
This man had gone toe-to-toe with a Tailed Beast and survived.
Suddenly, Chi Yu gasped in pain.
The Raikage's hand blade had slashed beneath his arm during the exchange.
Chi Yu retreated using Body Flicker once more, clutching his ribs.
They weren't broken—but a fracture was certain.
Unbreakable defense. Devastating offense. Blinding speed.
How was one supposed to fight such a monster?
As if to answer, the Third Raikage now raised two fingers.
Chi Yu bit his thumb and slammed his hand to the ground.
> "Summoning Technique: Double Rashōmon!"
Twin demonic gates emerged from the earth before him.
This was Orochimaru's technique—originally from the First Hokage, mastered by the Sannin.
The gates gaped open, snarling silently at the incoming threat.
> "Hell Stab: Two-Finger Spear!"
The Raikage struck.
The battlefield trembled as unstoppable force met unyielding defense.
