Chapter 157 - CHAPTER 157

Conversation with the Nine-Tails

Through the power of his Mangekyō Sharingan, Chi Yu infiltrated the consciousness of Miyuki Uzumaki—the mental landscape where the Nine-Tails was sealed.

The massive beast, bound by thick chakra chains, snarled in resistance. But upon seeing the spinning pattern of Chi Yu's Mangekyō, its crimson eyes narrowed in recognition and unease.

"The cursed eyes of the Uchiha... Mangekyō Sharingan, and it's invaded even this place?" the Nine-Tails growled.

Chi Yu met the Tailed Beast's gaze without flinching.

"With my Mangekyō, entering a Jinchūriki's mind isn't that surprising. Why act so shocked?"

"Don't think you can control me with some Genjutsu. You're dreaming!"

As the Nine-Tails struggled, one of the three remaining chakra chains restraining it snapped under its immense power.

"Mangekyō Sharingan: Genjutsu."

Chi Yu's eyes spun violently, casting a Genjutsu that forced the Nine-Tails' pupils to mimic his Mangekyō pattern. The beast froze for an instant—caught in the illusion.

"Now, Miyuki! Seal it!"

Having recovered, Miyuki Uzumaki summoned her Adamantine Sealing Chains once more. The broken bindings reformed, lashing around the Tailed Beast, and the heavy gates of the seal began to close. With a resounding clang, the Nine-Tails was secured once again.

It had been a tense moment, but not truly dangerous. Chi Yu knew that, with or without his intervention, the seal would have likely held.

After all, once the Nine-Tails was successfully sealed inside Miyuki Uzumaki, the foundation was already laid. The only reason it had nearly escaped was because a portion of its chakra remained unsealed—free to stir trouble within her body.

Still, the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style wasn't so fragile. Once that residual chakra was depleted, Miyuki would stabilize. But until then, even a fragment of the Nine-Tails' power was enough to make her manifest five tails—and that could be catastrophic for anyone nearby.

Chi Yu released the Genjutsu. The Nine-Tails roared in fury, realizing that the last remnants of its chakra influence had been suppressed.

"You think this will hold me forever?! I'll find a way out! And when I do, I'll kill all of you!"

Chi Yu ignored the outburst. He turned to Miyuki, whose breathing had calmed, and his Mangekyō reverted to the three-tomoe Sharingan. He cast a Genjutsu on her, gently putting her into unconsciousness.

Then he turned back to the cage and smirked at the imprisoned fox.

"You've got a lot of bark for someone who's spent most of their life behind bars. First Hashirama, then Madara, and now this... new cell. You really don't have the qualifications to boast."

The Nine-Tails snarled and slammed its body against the cage.

"Damn Uchiha brat! Don't think I don't know those two are long dead. I will get out of here one day!"

Chi Yu's eyes spun once more into the Mangekyō pattern, now colder and more intense.

"I'm not Uchiha," he said flatly. "And if you keep making noise, I might just kill the one you're all waiting for—Kurama."

The beast froze.

"...What did you just call me?" The Nine-Tails' voice dropped to a stunned whisper.

"How do you know my name? How do you know about the child of prophecy?"

Chi Yu sneered.

"'The blue-eyed boy who calls the Tailed Beasts by name with a smile'... sound familiar? Try calling me 'Uchiha brat' again. Go ahead. See if I don't make good on my words."

A tense silence followed. The Nine-Tails narrowed its eyes, now wary.

"Who are you really...? Where did you learn these things?"

"Don't bother asking. You won't get any answers. Just know this—I know your history. I know your origins. I know everything about you Tailed Beasts."

The Nine-Tails' fur bristled.

"Even our origins...?!"

Chi Yu leaned in slightly, eyes flashing.

"Ten-Tails."

The Nine-Tails recoiled. The name sent tremors through its massive body. For a moment, all was silent—except for the sound of its ragged breathing.

Then, in a more measured tone, it asked:

"...You haven't left yet. That means you didn't come here just to help her seal me. What do you want from me?"

Chi Yu nodded.

"Smart. That's expected of a being who's lived for centuries. I don't like owing debts. Rather than scramble in the future, I prefer to prepare in advance. What I have in mind benefits you, too."

The Nine-Tails growled.

"Benefits? Spare me."

"I'm serious," Chi Yu replied. "You probably haven't realized it yet, but you Tailed Beasts are being targeted. Someone intends to capture you—all of you."

"To use us as weapons? That's no different from how humans have always treated us," the Nine-Tails spat bitterly.

"No," Chi Yu said. "This is different. The wielder of the Rinnegan has already summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. You know what that means."

The Nine-Tails' face twisted in disbelief.

"You mean... they're planning to revive it?"

"Exactly. The Ten-Tails." Chi Yu's tone was grim. "You're not in immediate danger—but give it ten years. Your turn will come."

The Nine-Tails lowered its head slightly, its tone serious now.

"So what do you want from me?"

"Nothing yet," Chi Yu said. "But I'll leave a Transcription Seal in Miyuki Uzumaki's eyes. In two or three years, she'll face a crisis. That crisis will affect you—and every other Tailed Beast. It's tied to the future of the child you've been waiting for."

"And if I refuse?" the Nine-Tails asked darkly.

Chi Yu laughed without humor.

"Then rot in this cage until the Akatsuki extract you and turn you into fuel for the Ten-Tails. Be my guest."

The Nine-Tails was silent for a long moment, its massive form still.

Then, begrudgingly:

"...Fine. I'll agree for now."

Chi Yu scoffed.

"Don't act like I'm the one begging. Remember your place—you're a prisoner."

The Nine-Tails' eyes blazed with fury once more.

But Chi Yu only smirked, turned away, and calmly exited Miyuki Uzumaki's mindscape—leaving behind the silent rage of the most powerful Tailed Beast.
