Chidori
Uchiha Obito was furious with Kakashi's cold and indifferent attitude.
Pointing at him in frustration, Obito snapped, "Seriously, how did you become a Jōnin? Unbelievable!"
Kakashi didn't even turn to face him fully, merely glancing sideways. "Coming from you, that means nothing."
Obito clenched his fists. "I'm Uchiha Obito of the Uchiha Clan! I'll surpass you one day—just wait until my Sharingan awakens!"
Kakashi scoffed mockingly. "The Uchiha Clan? Big deal. Even if your Sharingan does awaken, it won't change anything. My teacher's Sharingan awakened earlier than anyone in your clan. Teacher, when did yours awaken?"
Chi Yu, standing nearby, offered a casual smile and replied, "When I was nine."
Kakashi smirked. "You hear that? Don't keep flaunting the Uchiha name. You're twelve, and it still hasn't awakened. Even if it does, it won't suddenly make you strong."
Obito was shaking with rage, but he couldn't argue back. And truth be told—he was deeply afraid of Chi Yu.
Rumors about Chi Yu targeting members of the Uchiha Clan circulated throughout Konoha. Whispers spoke of skilled Uchiha mysteriously dying after crossing paths with him. Within the clan, Chi Yu's name had become synonymous with danger, spoken only in hushed tones and wary glances.
Rin Nohara tried once again to diffuse the tension. "Come on, you two. Can't you stop fighting for once?"
Minato Namikaze cut in smoothly, "Alright, let's focus. Time to go over the mission."
He unfurled a map of the Ninja World, pointing to a key location. "Look closely—this area here. The Land of Earth is retreating from the Grass Country and has shifted their frontlines toward the Land of Rain. Iwagakure's forces are massing here."
He tapped a spot bordering the Land of Fire. "Intelligence reports say over a thousand enemy shinobi are stationed near this front, preparing to invade the Land of Fire. Our forces are already engaging them. But if they cross the border, we'll be too late."
Rin's brow furrowed. "If they're showing such bold movements, their reinforcements must be strong."
Minato nodded. "That's why this mission is critical. Our objective lies here—Kannabi Bridge."
He pointed at the map again.
Chi Yu's gaze followed Minato's finger, then shifted subtly toward Obito. The boy stiffened under the stare, shivering slightly.
Chi Yu looked away, pensive. So it's coming. The Kannabi Bridge mission... That means Obito will soon meet Uchiha Madara.
He wasn't concerned about Kakashi replacing Obito's Sharingan—Chi Yu had full confidence in Kakashi's strength. That wasn't what troubled him.
Minato continued, "We're outnumbered at the front, so we can't spare many for this operation. That's why we're forming a small elite squad to infiltrate enemy lines."
Kakashi frowned. "A bridge? So it's an infiltration and demolition mission?"
"Exactly," Minato confirmed. "Team Kakashi—you'll destroy the Kannabi Bridge, which is being used to transport enemy supplies. Once it's down, retreat immediately. Chi Yu, anything to add?"
Chi Yu crossed his arms. "No. The plan's solid."
Obito raised his hand. "What about you, sensei?"
Minato answered, "Chi Yu and I will head directly to the front lines. Our attack will serve as a diversion to draw enemy attention away from your infiltration. Kakashi, as squad leader, you'll have full operational command. We'll accompany you to the border—then split up. Understood?"
Minato extended his hand in the traditional team gesture. Obito, Rin, and Takei Katsuhiko placed their hands on top of his.
All four looked at Chi Yu and Kakashi, expecting them to join.
Chi Yu turned his head as if he hadn't seen anything.
Kakashi mimicked him, muttering, "How childish."
With no choice, Minato's team stacked their hands and cheered themselves on.

Kakashi led the way as captain.
Suddenly, he halted and raised a hand. The group stopped immediately.
Chi Yu nodded in satisfaction—Kakashi's instincts were sharp.
Up ahead, hidden within the dense forest, an Iwagakure Jōnin named Muzhi was concealed. Muzhi was a veteran—an elite shinobi skilled in kenjutsu and known for his speed and stealth. He was on a solo reconnaissance mission and had mastery of the Shadow Clone Technique.
Unbeknownst to him, Chi Yu had already located Muzhi using Observation Haki, even detecting his 20 Shadow Clones.
Minato dropped to one knee, fingertips brushing the soil as he activated his sensory ninjutsu.
"One chakra signature... no, multiple. Twenty-one total. Most likely Shadow Clones."
Kakashi narrowed his eyes toward the trees. "So I was right."
He turned to Chi Yu. "Teacher—I'm going in. Please provide cover!"
Before Chi Yu could answer, Minato interjected. "Hold on. Don't rush. Kakashi, stay back. I'll—"
But Kakashi ignored him and kept his eyes on Chi Yu.
Chi Yu smiled faintly. "Go ahead. I've got you covered."
He then turned to Minato and said flatly, "He's the squad leader. As captain, Kakashi has full authority to act. During a mission, even I won't override the commander's decision."
Kakashi began forming hand signs. As the lightning began to crackle in his palm, he announced, "I want you to see the technique I've been working on—my own original jutsu: Chidori. I developed it using Lightning Release and refined my chakra control through inspiration I took from sword-based breathing techniques."
Electric chakra crackled violently in his hand, the high-pitched screech echoing like a thousand birds chirping at once.
Obito, Rin, and Takei stared at the jutsu in awe.
So much power... Rin thought.
Chi Yu narrowed his eyes. So Kakashi had developed Chidori already. In canon, it came from trying to combine Lightning Release with the Rasengan—and failing. But in this version, Chi Yu noted the influence of Kakashi's own style—perhaps even a twist on Breath of Lightning-type movement.
Kakashi prepared to charge—but Minato raised a hand in front of him, halting his motion.
"Even with this jutsu, there are a lot of enemies," Minato warned. "This could be reckless."
Kakashi stared him down. "I'm the captain now. And on missions, the team follows the captain's orders—right?"
Minato slowly lowered his hand. "...Very well."
The instant Minato's hand dropped, Kakashi vanished in a blur of speed—Chidori flashing like lightning as he charged straight into the enemy ranks.
