Chapter 20 - This Beast Has Truly Become Intelligent

The white wolf kicked off the ground with its limbs and sprinted toward the Bentley like a bolt of lightning.

Without a moment's hesitation, it had identified its prey as the white Bentley .

Its eyes blazed with ferocity, and its four thick legs pounded the earth, propelling it forward at an astonishing speed. Despite starting later, it managed to overtake the Bentley, reaching the rear of the car.

Ryan glanced into the rearview mirror and was startled. He had not anticipated that the white wolf would survive the explosion, let alone keep pace with his vehicle.

The wolf's speed was on par with the car, even in the midst of the raging storm. It seemed utterly unaffected by the downpour and gale-force winds.

Ryan's expression darkened. He had underestimated the beast.

He had thrown several grenades, expecting at least to inflict serious injuries, if not kill the white wolf.

But judging by its speed, it showed no signs of being wounded.

The only silver lining was that the pack of wolves seemed to have perished in the blast.

Dealing with a single wolf was far easier than facing a pack.

He pressed the accelerator slightly, increasing the car's speed, but dared not go too fast. He was already on the mountain road descent.

If he accelerated recklessly, he risked careening off the path.

The storm not only obscured his vision but also made the road slick and treacherous.

Ryan was no professional driver. In fact, since obtaining his license in college, he had rarely driven, making him practically a novice.

To make matters worse, Ryan could only use one hand. His left hand throbbed with pain and was useless for driving.

As a result, his speed gradually decreased. By the time he reached the mountain road, the white wolf had closed in..

Ryan's gaze shifted to the grenades and handgun on the passenger seat. He grabbed a grenade, rolled down the car window about 20 centimeters, and immediately felt the storm surge in, splattering rainwater across his face.

Ignoring the stinging water, Ryan maintained a straight course as the car passed a bend and entered a straightaway.

He kept driving in a straight line, then bit down on the grenade's pin and hurled it out the window.

With the wind aiding its trajectory, the grenade flew backward.

He rolled up the window and watched the rear view mirror.

However, when he saw the situation, his eyes suddenly widened.

The white wolf seemed to recognize the danger of the grenade. Just before it hit the ground, the wolf sprinted even faster, closing the distance to the car in mere seconds. In the blink of an eye, it was only a few meters behind the vehicle..

As the grenade neared the ground, the white wolf kicked off the earth and leaped into the air.

Ryan was stunned. The white wolf's incredible speed and leaping ability allowed it to cover several meters in a single bound, landing directly on top of the Bentley.

Boom!

With a thunderous explosion, Ryan heard a loud bang as something heavy struck the roof of the car.

Ryan looked at the roof in astonishment, and saw a dent in the Bentley's roof.

It was clear—the white wolf had landed on his car. "Damn it!" he cursed.

Ryan simply couldn't describe his feelings. This beast was determined to see him dead.

Gritting his teeth, Ryan spotted an upcoming bend in the road. He floored the accelerator and,

upon reaching the bend, yanked the steering wheel hard to the left. The car screeched around the curve.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

He distinctly heard the white wolf's heavy paws pounding on the car roof. The beast, thrown off balance by the sudden turn, began to sway.

Ryan prepared to slam on the brakes, hoping to dislodge the wolf, when another loud crash came from above.

In astonishment, he looked up again to see several dents in the car roof, one of which was torn open, with a sharp claw protruding through.

"Are you kidding me?!"

Ryan couldn't tell whether the Bentley's build was subpar or the white wolf's claws were just that sharp, but it had pierced through the car roof.

Although only slightly, it was clear the wolf's claws posed a real threat to the vehicle.

Moreover, the white wolf had regained its balance and hadn't been flung off during the turn.

With a flash of determination, Ryan stomped on the brakes as soon as the Bentley straightened out after the bend.

The car screeched to a halt, but the wet road made the stop unstable, causing the vehicle to fishtail violently.

Ryan himself was startled, not expecting such a dramatic reaction from the brakes on the slippery surface.

As the car nearly collided with a guardrail, he managed to stop just in time.

Ryan glanced at the cliff hundreds of meters ahead of the guardrail, and he broke out in a cold sweat. That had been way too close to death.

Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Ryan quickly grabbed the gun from the passenger seat and looked up at the car roof again.

The white wolf, propelled forward by the inertia, had lunged forward but its claws were embedded in the car roof, allowing it to cling on and stabilize itself, avoiding being flung off.

Ryan's eyes turned cold. He aimed the gun at the car roof and fired several rounds without hesitation.

The gunshots rang out, followed by the wolf's howl of pain.

The claws embedded in the car roof were retracted.

Through the bullet holes in the car roof, Ryan saw that the white wolf was gone.

He instinctively glanced back but saw no sign of it.

Looking ahead, Ryan spotted a massive figure leaping onto the windshield.

Thud!

The wolf's enormous weight caused the front windshield to spiderweb with cracks. Though it didn't shatter completely, half of it became obscured.

Ryan's face paled. Through the still-intact upper half of the glass, he saw the white wolf leap again, its four legs aiming to stomp down on the windshield.

This beast has truly become a intelligent!

The thought flashed through Ryan's mind. He didn't have time to fire his gun. Instead, he floored the accelerator, sending the car lunging forward.

The wolf's massive body had just landed when it was violently struck by the car roof, tumbling off the car and rolling to the side of the road.

Ryan glanced back to see the wolf lying on the ground, not moving for several seconds. He slowly pressed the brakes, bringing the car to a halt in the middle of the road.

He grabbed the gun from the passenger seat again, pushed open the car door, and stepped out.
