The guard's expression softened faintly. "I'm sorry."
A sob tore from her chest as tears slipped down her cheeks, hot and silent. Her hands trembled violently as she covered her mouth, her shoulders shaking.
"Miss Song… are you alright…?" the guard asked quietly.
But she didn't hear him.
All she could hear were the phantom cries of her children in her nightmares… fading further and further away.
From his parked Bentley, Gabriel watched as her body slumped against the car door. His jaw tightened, the muscles ticking as he reached for the handle.
"Stay here," he ordered his aide calmly.
He stepped out of the car, his polished shoes crunching softly on the gravel path as he walked towards her SUV. Morning light glinted off his tailored black coat, his eyes dark and unreadable.
The guards recognised him instantly, bowing their heads in silent greeting as he approached.
