Chapter 120 - Why is it you, not me?

Aisha stood there, watching Luna with hollow eyes. She pondered the answer and asked in a flat tone, "Who is your favourite person?"

Luna smiled openly, from ear to ear, as she replied, "It's Aisha. She's really kind."

"Okay,"

"But why her?" Theia added under her breath.

For a moment, Luna's smile faltered, her pencil stilling. Did I hear it correctly? no, i probably misheard it…

"Can I go explore around the palace?" Theia asked with a smile.

Shaking off the thought, Luna looked up from her drawing. "You don't need to ask. Go, but come back soon. I want to do something with you later." She smiled gently.

Theia nodded as she slowly stood up and walked towards the exit. As she was about to reach for the handle, she turned back and looked at Luna, who had resumed drawing, the serene smile once again on her face.

She turned, opened the door, and strolled away into the palace corridors.

Theia walked down the corridor slowly, looking around, looking out for Aisha. She walked from one corridor to the next, right turn by left turn, from the ground floor to the first, second, and third floor. She couldn't find Aisha there, so she came back again to the fourth floor and looked straight for her.

She slowly turned the corner, peeking out, and raised her eyelids. She saw her—Aisha.

Theia walked towards her. Each step was hard and grounded, like a stomp of a beast. She kept her gaze on Aisha, and slowly her skin cracked apart, extending. The void that was left in between was filled by the 'skin' of her. Slowly, Theia grew to the height of Aisha. Matching her height, she gripped her right hand and decided what she would do.

Aisha swept the red carpet with a silent hum. She looked up as she heard someone come and noticed Theia. As she saw her, she straightened her back, saying, "Oh, Miss Theia, do you need any help with something?" with a smile.

"Theia?" she asked. As she saw Theia's height match hers, Her eyebrows furrowed and she scratched her temple, deep in thought.

Theia stopped right in front of Aisha and gripped her hand, thinking

Why her? Why is she the most important person? Why is she the one? Why? I don't understand. She did nothing for her. I don't understand; I was the one to help her. She did nothing! I should be her most important person! Not her! I don't understand. I don't understand why. Why is she the one? WHY!

"Theia?" Aisha saw Theia grip her right hand. As Theia moved, Aisha gripped the wooden handle of the broom, moving it in front of her. Her eyes shot wide open and she raised her eyebrows as she saw Theia raise her arm and throw it towards her.

She closed her eyes and placed the broom in front of her face, but it didn't stop Theia. Her hand shattered the broom and punched Aisha straight in the face, sending her flying to the ground.

The world tilted for Aisha, sound muffled by the blast of pain. She placed over her nose with her palm and looked up at Theia as the world spun for her. She saw her standing over her with her right arm to the side, dripping with blood. It didn't look like Theia's blood. Aisha touched her face and looked at her palm, now filled with blood, shards of wood embedded into her cheekbone and forehead.

"W-why?" Aisha asked as she slowly started to crawl backward. Thea noticed and raised her leg, driving her foot into Aisha's stomach, saying, "Why! Why!"

Aisha held her hands in front of her face, shielding herself to no avail.

Theia kept bashing her stomach as she kept saying, "Why are you so important to her?"

"Who are you to her?"

"Why are you even here?"

"Answer me!"

But Aisha laid silently, shielding her face. Theia's eyebrows twitched violently as she crouched by her, gripping her arms and shoving them to the side.

Theia saw her wide eyes, full of horror, her face contorted in extreme pain.

"Tell me, who are you to her!" Theia called out. But Aisha just closed her eyes and looked away. So Theia jolted and gripped her head hard, shouting, "Tell me why!"

Just as she did that, someone's footsteps echoed through the corridors. She turned her head back and saw who it was. It was Luna.

Seeing her, Theia contorted her face in pain and let go of Aisha. Her eyes were filled with tears, which poured down her cheeks. "I'm sorry," she said while looking at the floor.
