Chapter 17 - A Mother's Worry

"Mummy, why are there rogue wolves?" Lily asked, her childish tone filled with curiosity and a hint of fear.

Casey smiled and pulled her daughter close, trying to reassure her. They were sitting in the small room that had been assigned to them, a cosy space that was much better than their cottage back home. The room was warm and inviting, with soft blankets that felt like a warm hug. A small table and two chairs sat in one corner, and a large window let in a flood of natural light.

Casey took a deep breath and tried to think of a way to explain the complex situation to her young daughter. "Well, sweetie, sometimes wolves can get a little mixed up and forget what's important," she began, trying to simplify the explanation. "They might start to feel like they're not part of the pack any more, and that's when they can become rogue."

Lily looked up at her with big, curious eyes. "But why can't they just be part of the pack again?" she asked, her voice full of innocence.
