Chapter 545 - (2): The Survivors in the Mountains (2)

"The car's broken down. He's been trying to fix it, but he hasn't been able to. Thank you so much for what you did just now. If it weren't for you, we really wouldn't have known what to do."

"It's nothing, just a helping hand. The car still isn't fixed?" Ngo Hao felt something wasn't quite right. Out here in the open, even if the car broke down, you'd think someone would know how to fix it. He saw the man working on the car scratching his head, seemingly stumped.

"Strange, how can it not be fixed? This isn't scientific."

The survivor working on the car was a bit baffled.

He was definitely getting anxious, not having it fixed by now.

A survivor next to him said, "Didn't you say it was a small problem?"

"It is a small problem, but for some reason, when all these small problems are put together, it's got me all confused." The man fixing the car said, looking very helpless.

Ngo Hao: ...

He looked around.

Suddenly.

In the distance, a zombie came limping over. The zombie also saw the humans in the distance, leaned its body forward, let out a ferocious roar, and then started running towards them like a rabid dog.

"Hurry up, a lone zombie has spotted us!" Ngo Hao called out a reminder.

Hearing that a zombie was rushing over, the survivors' expressions changed drastically, becoming somewhat anxious.

"Get in the car! We'll deal with it from the car!"

"Forget fixing the car, get in and deal with the zombie first!"

The survivors nimbly climbed onto the truck, holding their steel pipes, ready for battle.

Ngo Hao felt that this couldn't go on.

He parked his motorcycle, picked up a steel pipe from the ground, and walked towards the zombie. The survivors on the truck called out reminders, telling him to get in the car quickly.

Ngo Hao said nothing more, but instead propped one end of the steel pipe on the ground, the other end aimed at the charging zombie, aiming for the right height to ensure the zombie's head would be hit one hundred percent.

His ability was camouflage, so the zombie naturally ignored him and wouldn't change its path.

The survivors on the truck held their breath, their breathing gradually becoming ragged. They didn't even make a sound, clutching their steel pipes tightly, not knowing what would happen next.

Pfft!

The zombie ran into it on its own. The sharp end of the steel pipe directly pierced the zombie's head.

Thick fluid slowly trickled down the steel pipe.

Due to inertia, the zombie's body was clearly about to hit him. Ngo Hao decisively dodged, and with a loud thud, the zombie collapsed to the ground.

"It works like that?"

The survivors on the truck stared, not expecting it to be resolved so easily. It was somewhat beyond their imagination.

After dealing with the zombie.

Ngo Hao went to the front of the truck and checked its condition. He had some experience in car repair.

The survivors came down from the truck and went to the front of the vehicle.

"Brother, you even know how to fix cars?"

Their address for Ngo Hao had directly been upgraded to "brother."

This was a respectful title they gave him.

It was a way of expressing their gratitude.

"I know a little."

Ngo Hao casually tinkered with it a few times, "Get in and start the car and see."

"Oh."

A survivor quickly started the truck. The engine turned over, and it really started.

"Great, the car's fixed!" the survivor who started the car exclaimed excitedly.

The other survivors also breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at their companion who had been fixing the car earlier. Although they didn't say anything, the meaning in their eyes was very clear, as if to say, You shoddy worker, look at this brother, and then look at yourself. The difference in skill is simply incomparable, isn't it?

Ngo Hao said, "The car's fixed, you guys should go now. I should be going too. Oh, right, let me ask you something. Have you seen the 'Zombie Illustrated Guide'?"

"No." The survivors shook their heads, completely unfamiliar with the "Zombie Illustrated Guide," having never even heard of it.

Ngo Hao took out the illustrated guide from the back of his motorcycle. "This is it. You can take a look. Don't look at how it is now in the apocalypse. Actually, there's a shelter in Hoang City called the Sunshine Shelter. A lot of people live there, and it's very safe. If you can find a satellite phone, you can call them, and they'll send someone to pick you up."

"Ah..." The survivors were shocked to hear what Ngo Hao said, then shook their heads. "Brother, actually, we used to live in a shelter before. We thought it was very safe at the time, but in the end, that shelter was still destroyed by zombies. We escaped from there."

The shelter they had been in before had also given them the idea that it was very safe.

But when the tide of zombies came, they watched helplessly as the shelter was destroyed.

Ngo Hao shook his head and said, "No, the Sunshine Shelter I'm telling you about isn't as simple as you think. There's a person there named Lam Pham. He's very powerful and can hunt all kinds of zombies at will. All of this is recorded in the illustrated guide. You'll know once you flip through it. All the zombies in Hoang City have been cleared out. You can imagine how powerful that is."

He knew that some things were hard for people to believe.

But the truth was the truth.

He wasn't lying.

Sure enough.

When he said these words, they were all completely dumbfounded, feeling as if they had heard something unbelievable.

Such an expression was very normal. Only by seeing it with their own eyes could they understand.

Ngo Hao was about to start his motorcycle and leave, but he was stopped by the survivors.

"Wait a minute, brother. Thank you for saving us. Can you tell us your name?" They looked at Ngo Hao with eyes full of gratitude. This kind of gaze was very sincere, not feigned.

"Ngo Hao."

"Brother Ngo, we'd like to invite you to our current shelter. We want to thank you properly, and also ask about the shelter you mentioned."

Ngo Hao looked at them. Now it was time to make a choice again.

Was it to choose to believe in human nature?

Or to refuse.

"Alright, I can."

Ngo Hao replied with a smile. Even though he had been deceived before, he still chose to believe.

If he didn't believe in human nature, he wouldn't have helped them lure away the zombies, let alone tell them about the Sunshine Shelter. He believed that there were still many good people.

If his thoughts were known by some ambitious people.

They would definitely laugh out loud.

Foolish, simply foolish.

To actually choose to believe in human nature in the apocalypse, isn't that just tired of living?

Ngo Hao started his motorcycle and followed behind the truck.

He thought their shelter was in a building, but it was clear he had thought too much. The direction the vehicle was heading was actually a mountain.

They parked the truck at the foot of the mountain, then unloaded the supplies they had found and carried them up the mountain together.

"Is your shelter on the mountain?" Ngo Hao asked.

"Yes, it's on the mountain. We feel it's safer here. Although the buildings outside have walls to block them, if we're unlucky and get surrounded by zombies, we really won't be able to escape."

Hearing this.

Ngo Hao also nodded in agreement.

It made some sense.

After reaching a relatively flat area on the mountain, he heard the sound of conversation and the happy laughter of children.

In front of him were man-made wooden railings.

On a mountain full of trees, you could have as much wood as you wanted.

Ngo Hao felt that these wooden railings were probably just for show, definitely not the main point. It wasn't until he went inside that he discovered that you should never underestimate humans who want to survive.

Because they had all sorts of ideas.

Looking up.

The houses were actually built in the trees.

If you didn't have some skill, you really might not be able to do this.

"Brother Ngo, we built our houses in the trees. Even if zombies appear here, we can still defend ourselves. The wooden railings around can block the zombies and buy us time to get into the trees."

"That's indeed a good idea."

Ngo Hao agreed very much. Zombies couldn't climb trees. As long as the number of zombies wasn't too large, it really might not pose a threat to this place.

The houses in the trees were all connected by rattan walkways, making it convenient to move around.

"Brother Ngo, it's still relatively safe on the mountain. Sometimes, if we're lucky, we can catch wild animals, like pheasants, wild boars, and so on. We keep them in captivity. Not far ahead, there's a stream, so we have a guaranteed water source. Life isn't too much of a problem. The only thing we need is medicine. We adults can handle fevers and colds, but the children need medicine to get better."

The survivor leading Ngo Hao was called Luong Tuan.

He explained the situation here.

Ngo Hao said, "Has it always been this safe?"

Luong Tuan said, "Yes, ever since we fled here, we haven't encountered any danger."

Ngo Hao was attracted by the surrounding situation. He thought that the apocalypse was indeed terrifying, but for humans who were trying to survive, they could always find a chance to live in the midst of danger.
