Zhao Meimei called directly, and the phone was picked up almost immediately. A gentle and pleasant voice from Xu Xu came through the cellphone: "Meimei, Happy New Year."
Zhao Meimei smiled and said, "Happy New Year."
Since going to college, Xu Xu hadn't come home through the provincial capital as he had promised earlier during breaks. He also hadn't connected with Zhao Meimei through video software online, nor had he sent calls or texts, only sending greetings during holidays.
Every time Xu Xu sent a greeting message, Zhao Meimei would immediately call him back.
Zhao Meimei asked, "What delicious food is Auntie making for you tonight?"
