Chapter 3 - 003. Deliberately provoking

The gap in status between her and Dai is too wide; fighting recklessly would be like a moth to the flame.

Having been reborn with difficulty, an endless beautiful life lies ahead for her to create and enjoy. Liu Shuzhen has no notion of perishing together with a scumbag.

But this abomination in her womb, born out of her half life's efforts and sweat, who unhesitatingly turned to his rotten father for wealth and glory, and happily acknowledged a thief as his mother—Liu Shuzhen has no interest in being his mother anymore in this lifetime. Down he goes with a bowl of abortion medicine, severing their mother-son bond while also ensuring Dai Weiguo has no descendants to speak of. Consider it Liu Shufen's revenge.

Anyway, Dai Weiguo desires nothing more than to cling onto the Bai family's coattails and ascend effortlessly; he doesn't fancy her, a rustic boy born from dregs, does he?

Two hundred yuan is proof!

Liu Shuzhen sneered coldly, briskly marching along the country path, heading straight for the two adjacent mud and thatch houses her family erected after donating land and property.

The Liu family was originally a well-known landlord amidst this land of snowy mountains and dark waters, at its peak owning fields spanning ten miles of neighboring villages. It's no exaggeration to call them a renowned family with talents aplenty. Fortunately, the ancestors valued moral conduct, never maltreating or exploiting the people. Liu Shuzhen's eldest uncle and third uncle even joined the revolution as Eighth Route Army members. Her father, Liu Chengqing, was also influential and supported the revolution by dissipating family wealth before the land reform, respected as a red landlord.

If it weren't for her capable brothers having short lives and the eldest uncle and third uncle leaving no descendants, and damnable Wu Xia turning truth on its head, how would the Liu family fall into such a bleak situation?

Luckily, Heaven has eyes and brought Liu Shuzhen back!

This time, those tragic incidents of the past won't repeat themselves. A turnaround starts by kicking that damned venomous woman out of the Liu family. Clenching her fist, Shuzhen gazes at the two towering adjacent thatch houses, silently cheering for herself.

Impatient to play some pure sister-in-law act with Wu Xia, Shuzhen simply kicked the door open without calling out.

Startled, Wu Xia, who was sprawled on the kang eating seeds, nearly swallowed the one she just brought to her mouth whole with its shell. She raised her eye and saw it was her little sister-in-law, Liu Shuzhen, whom even a local hero like Lianshan couldn't kill, saving her instead, renowned for being active and capable, yet also famously impoverished. Wu Xia's face immediately turned icy enough to shave off two ounces of frost: "Shuzhen, what are you doing? Who annoyed you to the extent that you come home to vent evil on this sister-in-law?"

No matter what, didn't I venture countless miles away from the Lian family to help uphold justice for you, dear sister-in-law? We know you, without demanding you to obey me as if I were a mother; to be filial and respectful like your own mother. You shouldn't just kick the door without a word! How has this sister-in-law treated you unfairly, letting you, a married daughter, come home and flaunt your authority?

Lacking manners, did you even consider your brother and me at all?"

A series of big questions hit her like a hammer; the former Liu Shuzhen, who treated her husband as heaven and relied on her natal home, might have been panic-stricken. Fearing the difficulty for her brother caught in the middle, fearing her sister-in-law's temperament if she really put words into actions, truly leaving her—just abandoned by her husband—with no care from her natal home. Young and inexperienced, naturally not decisive or courageous, compounded with heavy concerns, wasn't she easily manipulated by this venomous woman Wu Xia?

But that was the former Liu Shuzhen.

Now, having seen through this venomous woman's true colors, she won't be deceived. Determined to eradicate this vicious element from her home, Shuzhen will by no means settle peacefully, making things larger and larger is more like it.

Thus, hearing Wu Xia's barrage of questions, she not only didn't apologize like before, but instead retorted sarcastically, "Sister-in-law? As a mother? Haha, Wu Xia, is your face made of the corner of a city wall? So thick a nail couldn't penetrate! I haven't directly strangled you with your poisonous heart purely because your despicable life isn't worth getting imprisoned or killed for.

Demanding respect from the grandmother?

Did you even gauge your shamelessness!"

Startled by how her ordinarily gullible little sister-in-law suddenly turned from a meek sheep into a leopard, Wu Xia hesitated, and then her anger erupted like a volcanic explosion, uncontrollable: "You're rebelling now, shameless one! Dare challenge the household elder sister-in-law despite getting rejected back to natal home? Liu Shuzhen did plunging into the river make your brain swell?

Dare oppose me, have you considered the consequences!

Or are you fantasizing over Lianshan's good heart, just thinking you can rely on it until the end?

Well, truth is, though Lianshan's poor and old, he's at least a first-marriage young man; taking in you, a discarded shoe, does him a disservice!"

Good, knowing this fool only sees profit without wit! Isn't it a slight nudge until her true self uncovers?

Pity her past self, veiled in confusion, stubbornly clung to Dai Weiguo's twisted tree, treating such a black-hearted thing as a lifeline and kin. Yet, past life causes beget present life effects, Wu Xia's past life of excessive evil means she's undeserving now, thus don't blame this sister-in-law for exploiting you as a raft. Who else among the mob of devils and monsters, is softer or as harmful to the Liu family as you?

Liu Shuzhen sneered internally, yet outwardly played a devastated character: "Wu Xia, is this how you see me? I took you as a person worthy of respect, delivered good food and clothes to you before my two little nephews from second brother's house got any, listened blindly to whatever you said. I thought you'd genuinely travel distances to secure justice from that heartless Dai Weiguo, yet you took Bai Jing's money to bite me, your little sister-in-law, instead.

You, you truly…"

Wu Xia froze, never expecting Liu Shuzhen would, in a fit of rage, expose her secret, while strongly indicating she intended to reclaim the money.

How can that be?

Know that what Wu Xia held dear her whole life were, that husband and money. This prodigal sister-in-law stabbed her heart; letting her husband know about this not only induces irritation but never expects she could keep the money! Frightened that neither of her precious gems would remain, Wu Xia instantly grew furious, like a locomotive, she charged at Liu Shufen.

Hurriedly arriving Liu Shouren, Liu Shouyi, and others barely got the chance to scold Wu Xia's bitterness before seeing her madly rush towards their little sister. With a simultaneous cold sweat breakout, the brothers yelled: No, sister, sister is still pregnant!
