In the eyes of Li Yuemei, Xing Lang held little significance. He was merely a Level 6 Ghost Tamer, and beyond that, there was little to captivate her attention.
However, Mo Lin was a different matter altogether.
Mo Lin held far greater potential. He possessed powers shrouded in mystery, powers yet to be fully revealed.
Li Yuemei briefly glanced at the distant Xing Lang but said nothing.
"A heavy bounty? You truly are wealthy," Li Yuemei remarked with admiration.
This wasn't a hollow compliment; she genuinely believed Mo Lin to be wealthy.
"Not bad," Mo Lin replied casually.
He had only revealed a glimpse of his wealth so far. As his ghost-hunting endeavored, his collection of Yin coins grew steadily.
"Do you know him?" Zhuge Mingyue's eyes widened, her surprise evident.
The Li family were natives of Beihai, and here was Mo Lin, apparently well-acquainted with the third Miss of the Li family. This connection was quite telling, a link to significant influence.
It wasn't only Zhuge Mingyue who was taken aback; others around them were similarly stunned.
The Deputy Minister of the Ghost Tamer Society, acquainted with the powerful Li family, and not just acquainted but evidently quite familiar—it was an intriguing scenario. One was a fading force in Beihai, the other was a rising titan.
"Miss Li, is your brother aware of how close you are to this man?" Xing Lang approached Li Yuemei, asking with a hint of probing.
Li Yuemei's eyes flickered with coldness as she coldly retorted, "Do I need to explain myself to you? Should I seek your approval for whom I choose to associate with?"
Her words left Xing Lang's face pale with anger. Today, he felt reduced to a mere fool.
"Fine! You're something else," Xing Lang spat, turning on his heel and leaving.
Mo Lin, pointing at Xing Lang's retreating back, said with calm certainty, "I stand by the bounty I announced earlier. If anyone seeks money or Yin tools, they should prepare to take action against the Xing family."
Xing Lang, upon hearing these words, clenched his fists, trembling with rage. He nearly ground his teeth to dust.
Watching Xing Lang leave, Mo Lin's eyes darkened with a glint of coldness.
"Is there something you need?" Mo Lin asked, turning to Li Yuemei.
"I have something to discuss. I've laid it all out with my family. I intend to fight for the position of heir to the family." Li Yuemei spoke slowly, her voice steady. "My father wants to see you."
"See me?" Mo Lin raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Yes," Li Yuemei nodded.
Rather than a meeting with Mo Lin, it seemed her father wished to gauge the reliability of her bodyguard—whether he had the power to support her claim to the family leadership.
"Let's go then, and meet him," Mo Lin replied, straightforwardly.
"Alright," Li Yuemei agreed.
She led Mo Lin to the car, and they drove off. The road they were on wasn't headed toward the city center, but rather to the outskirts.
After about thirty minutes, they arrived at the foot of a mountain.
Li Yuemei guided Mo Lin along a small path, leading them to a villa nestled at the mountain's base.
"My elder brother and second brother are here. When you face them, don't lose your composure," she advised.
"Don't worry. I've been a bodyguard before. I know what I'm doing," Mo Lin replied smoothly.
The two walked for a few more minutes, entering the villa's courtyard. As soon as they stepped inside, the smile on Li Yuemei's face faded, replaced by a more serious expression.
There weren't many people in the yard—only four.
A bald man stood off to the side, tinkering with something. Behind him stood a massive man, easily over six feet tall, with a broad build.
The tall man fixed Mo Lin with an intense stare, an ominous energy radiating from him.
A Level 6 Ghost Tamer. He was trying to intimidate Mo Lin.
"This is my eldest brother, Li Wuyi," Li Yuemei said, pointing to the bald man.
Mo Lin nodded. As for the towering man behind him, it was clear he was the bodyguard.
Li Yuemei then pointed to a shorter-haired man sitting on a chair, peeling an orange. "This is my second brother, Li Gu."
Behind Li Gu stood another Level 6 Ghost Tamer.
"Third sister, I advise you to reconsider. You're far too weak to challenge for the position of heir," Li Gu said slowly.
"You should mind your own business," Li Yuemei retorted sharply.
Li Gu's bodyguard stepped forward, glaring at Li Yuemei, summoning a deadly-level contract ghost into the air. Its fangs glinted as it floated ominously, a clear attempt to intimidate Li Yuemei.
It was time for Mo Lin to step in.
He too advanced, calling out to Chen Xi. The moment she appeared, her ferocity was apparent as she glared at the deadly-level ghost, her presence unyielding.
Though she was only a Nightmare-level ghost, she wasn't the least bit afraid of the deadly-level adversary. She seemed eager for the fight, practically itching to engage.
Nightmare-level versus Deadly-level—it was still a gap, but not insurmountable.
The key was that Mo Lin couldn't summon Bingyu at this moment—her potential to be controlled was a risk.
To avoid embarrassing himself, Mo Lin had only summoned Chen Xi.
Li Gu eyed Mo Lin coldly, a mocking smile creeping onto his face. "Third sister, this is your bodyguard? A Nightmare-level ghost? A Level 5 Ghost Tamer? Do you seriously expect him to help you claim the position of heir?"
"Third sister, I'm not mocking you, but relying on a Level 5 Ghost Tamer to vie for the leadership is just... unrealistic," Li Wuyi added.
As soon as he finished speaking, the Level 6 Ghost Tamer behind him summoned his own deadly-level ghost, showing it off as if to flaunt his power.
"So what if I'm a Level 5 Ghost Tamer? Ever heard of fighting above your level?" Mo Lin countered.
In the past, Mo Lin might have kept quiet, but now things were different.
Chen Xi's strength was undeniable, and she had grown steadily more powerful. She had even unlocked new ghost abilities, making it possible for her to face off against a Deadly-level ghost.
Feeling Mo Lin's intent, Chen Xi suddenly surged with energy, her black hair swirling in the air. Flames erupted around her, surrounding her with a fierce aura.
"I can fight them! I'm not afraid!"
She wasn't just talking. She was ready for the challenge.
"Nightmare-level ghosts are this confident?" someone murmured.
"Fighting above their level? I've never heard of a Nightmare-level ghost winning against a Deadly-level."
"Care to test it out?" Sun Wendong challenged Mo Lin.
"Sure, as long as you don't regret it," Mo Lin replied nonchalantly.
If Chen Xi couldn't win, Mo Lin would call in Chu Xing for backup. A one-on-one battle was fine, but Mo Lin was prepared for a group fight.
This was his plan—to let these people experience just how formidable he and his ghosts could be.
