Chapter 179 - Chapter 179 - The Vicious Slaughter

From the perspective of the Heart-Demon and Xin Yu at this moment, the time and space they could once interfere with at a mere thought had now become incredibly difficult to influence. Shattered, chaotic, and twisted—this series of disruptions caused them to continuously leap and phase through different coordinate systems of time and space.

One moment, they might be locked in combat in the depths of space; the next, they would reappear to clash in some nameless corner of Earth.

On this day, the history of humanity was profoundly altered. Across countless chaotic points in time, both past and future, many people bore witness to what a battle between immortals truly was.

"What… in the world is happening?"

The Herrscher of the End, Kiana, looked up into the distance. Standing on the moon, she could clearly see two illusory figures in the cosmos near Pluto, constantly clashing and fighting. The destructive force generated by the shockwaves of their battle had carved deep canyons across the surface of the dwarf planet.

Naturally, the Herrscher of the End wanted to try and stop this extraordinarily destructive battle, lest the two combatants bring their fight directly to Earth and cause incalculable losses.

But the result was that even when she wielded the Authority of the End, she was shocked to discover she still couldn't fully interfere with those two illusory figures. It was as if their existence was not fundamentally rooted in this specific time and space at all.

It was as though the two were mere phantoms, projected into the present from the infinite past and future. They did exist, yet they were not entirely present.

To interfere with their battle, one needed a certain mastery over the properties of spacetime, to locate their true existence within the chaotic torrent of time and space surrounding them, and then shatter or expel the two phantoms.

Of course, it could also be done without mastering the nature of spacetime. One could simply use pure, overwhelming power to annihilate everything in that region.

The Herrscher of the End was certainly capable of achieving this with her immense power. But the destruction caused by doing so would be enough to completely obliterate the nearby Pluto, and would even affect the stability of the solar system's own magnetic field, which would lead to even greater devastation.

"What the hell! Where did these two even come from! It's only been a few days since I beat Kevin and became the Herrscher of the End. I could finally say I was invincible under heaven, and now two weirdos just show up out of nowhere. What is this? Invincible under heaven until an enemy drops from the heavens?"

Kiana couldn't help but rant. She then gripped her communicator and spoke to everyone at Schicksal and Anti-Entropy, who were already scrambling frantically on Earth. "The situation is, I can indeed stop them, but because I haven't fully mastered the Authority of the Herrscher of the End, the scope of the damage would be far too great. It might directly affect the magnetic field of the solar system itself. That would be even more troublesome."

"Damn it! How could this happen? We finally got a chance for peaceful development, we finally dealt with the Honkai, and everyone could finally breathe. Why did this have to happen now! Where the hell did those two aliens come from!"

The hot-tempered Dr. Tesla blurted out, her words peppered with curses that were, fortunately, filtered out.

"For now, all we can do is watch. With Earth's current level of technology and personnel, trying to force these two to stop or drive them away would require overwhelming power. Only Kiana can do that. But Kiana has only just obtained the power of the Herrscher of the End and isn't proficient with it yet. The destruction she would cause would be even greater than what those two are causing now. Therefore, we can only wait for the outcome and hope they don't bring their fight to Earth."

Dr. Einstein's voice remained calm as she spoke, but everyone could hear the tremor in her tone, revealing that her state of mind was not nearly as stable as she appeared.

"Xin Yu! Are you still concerned about the lives of these ordinary people? You're still holding back in a fight with me, trying to prevent the damage from spreading. Because of that, you are inherently weaker by several degrees!"

"Once you win this battle, changing the fate of these dead people will be no problem at all. So why hold back like this? Fight with abandon!"

Gray mist swirled around the Heart-Demon. The conflicting spacetime energy contained within it violently destroyed the nature of the surrounding time and space, making it impossible for Xin Yu to hide in the seams of spacetime to launch sneak attacks as he did before.

Xin Yu silently blocked the various attacks unleashed by the Heart-Demon. He glanced down at the land of Shenzhou, at the figure in a Daoist robe standing atop a mountain peak, looking up at him and the Heart-Demon.

That was his master, the one who had guided him onto the path of cultivation. The reason he possessed such immense power today was rooted in her. This debt of gratitude could not be forgotten.

"If I do as you say, I would be going against the very Way I originally chose to walk."

Xin Yu spoke, a rare occurrence in this battle. He was using the moment to regulate the wounds his steel-like body had sustained.

The Heart-Demon saw through this, but he did not immediately press the attack, as he too was mending the damage within his own body.

"Ah, so you understand that this battle is not merely a contest of power, but also one of will and personal ideals."

"My ideal is to be free and unrestrained, to do whatever I wish, no longer bound by simple notions of good, evil, and morality. In other words, to be a pure demon!"

"My ideal is to see a better world, to see everyone strive for kindness. A world with no more war, no more suffering, no more famine, no more discrimination. A world where everyone can live on equal footing, exercising their right to live."

"Hahaha! A grand dream. If a powerless commoner said such words, I might laugh. But you are different. If you can defeat me, you will have the power to realize your dream! So, while I do not understand it, I will not mock you."

"You cannot fail to understand me. We both originate from the same person. We are both a part of him. Even if we have obtained different things, our essence is the same. It's just that you are more willful, while I am more childish!"

After Xin Yu finished speaking, the Heart-Demon fell silent for a moment. He let out a slow breath, his injuries and energy now fully recovered.

"I originally intended to disrupt your state of mind, but it turns out you have successfully disrupted my thoughts instead."

As his voice fell, the Heart-Demon's longsword slashed forth once more.

At the same time, the gray mist poured down from the sky like a torrential flood. He was using this to force Xin Yu to choose: either block the mist, or the land below with Fu Hua and its surroundings would be pulverized by the forces of spacetime.

Xin Yu showed no hesitation. The mana within his body instantly rewrote its own properties into that of Abundance. He forcibly imbued the gray mist, which was fundamentally a destructive spell, with a faint, weak consciousness of its own, forcing the downpour to a halt.

But because of this, Xin Yu's body and soul were shattered into over a hundred fragments. However, under the effects of the power of Abundance, his body and soul were rapidly glued back together. Although the process was excruciatingly painful, Xin Yu's expression did not change in the slightest. His longsword once again clashed with his opponent's.
