Out of everyone in the room, the young Spes was most shocked—both by what was in the room they stood in, and by what Medicus had just said. It all made him recall the tales of the cruelty of the Inquisition—stories he had long buried in the back of his mind, forgotten only because of how close he had become with his partners.
"Today it's them, tomorrow it might be us. You better be wary of these Inquisitors. They'll go through any means to accomplish their missions. They don't care whether you're friend or foe." Like a shadow looming over his thoughts, Vota's words echoed in his head, dark and heavy. They twisted around his mind, making him wonder—would Decus, Crystal, and even the Medicus do the same if the mission demanded it?
