Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Corpses x Turmoil

As the leading man spoke, the driver jumped down from the driver's seat, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, handed one to the leading man, and chuckled. "Boss Snake, there are quite a few 'human snakes' this time. I'll definitely have a good meal on you."

"Hahahaha, of course. What's the point of earning money if you don't spend it?" The man called "Boss Snake" took the cigarette and laughed proudly. "Human snakes" referred to illegal immigrants. "Boss Snake" referred to someone who organized illegal immigration. This leading man was the one who organized this particular smuggling operation.

"Alright, let them all out, those 'human snakes'."

The leading man waved his hand. The people gathered around the container moved into action. With a "clank," the container door slowly opened. The young man opening the door was laughing and chatting with his companions as he did so. They had done this many times and felt no psychological pressure whatsoever.

"It stinks."

As soon as the container door opened, the young man looked back, his face twisting. It was always like this when they opened the container. The people inside had been cooped up for days, or even longer, so the stench from their various excretions was naturally unbearable.

"Hey, come out!"

The man shouted into the container, but after waiting a moment, there was no movement inside.

"Bang bang bang..."

The man raised his arm and vigorously slapped the container, trying to elicit a response from the people inside, but the container remained eerily silent.

"What's going on?"

The leading man was chatting with the driver. Noticing the abnormality on this side, he strode over, frowning.

"It's nothing, Boss. Let me check."

The man who had been slapping the container immediately stopped, pulled out his phone from his pocket, turned on the flashlight function, and stepped inside the container. With the faint light from his phone's flashlight, the dark interior of the container was exposed to his eyes. The others waited outside, chatting and laughing.

"Ah~!!!"

Suddenly, an extremely terrified scream came from inside.

Inside the container, the man stared at the horrifying scene of bodies and blood everywhere, screamed in horror, and continuously backed away, finally stumbling and falling to the ground as he exited the container.

"Ah ah ah..."

Even as he fell, the man kept frantically kicking his legs, retreating rapidly, his face streaming with snot and tears.

"What happened!?"

His other companions all gathered around, looking at their struggling, terrified, and screaming companion on the ground, and swallowed. His expression was extremely horrified, his pupils trembling, as if he had seen some kind of evil ghost, chilling to the bone.

"Hey, you brat."

The leading man, however, directly pushed aside the crowd, reached out and grabbed the man by his collar, lifting him up, his expression fierce. "If you're so cowardly, why don't you go home and farm!" With that, he directly swung his right arm, throwing him to the ground, and walked towards the container himself.

Boss Snake had been doing this for so many years; he naturally knew that people inside must have died. Judging by the man's reaction, quite a few had died. But what did it matter? It wasn't like it hadn't happened before.

After all, on such a long sea journey, with twenty or thirty people crammed into one container, it would be strange if no one died. Some people were already sick, and others were physically weak, like children, women, and the elderly. Even if they suddenly died, he wouldn't find it strange at all.

Anyway, they had already paid, so if they died, they died. Blame it on their bad luck. That brat, it was just a few deaths. Just find a place to dispose of them. Why make such a fuss?

"Hey, people inside, come out!"

"Unless you like staying in a pile of dead bodies?"

Boss Snake came to the container door with an indifferent expression, pulled out his phone, turned on the flashlight, and shone it inside...

The indifference on Boss Snake's face instantly turned to horror. His mouth hung open, his lips trembling, unable to speak. His other companions, seeing their boss like this, couldn't help but gather around curiously, peering into the container.

"Ugh..."

Immediately, one person couldn't stand it. He violently turned his head, his legs buckling as he knelt on the ground and vomited. His vomiting immediately triggered a chain reaction. The others also turned away and retched wildly, the nauseating sensation repeatedly hitting their brains and stomachs, as if they were going to vomit out their internal organs.

"How... how is this possible..."

Boss Snake's face was horrified, and he slowly retreated, trembling. He had been in this line of work for several years and had encountered even worse situations, but this disgusting scene was the first of its kind. Compared to this, all previous bad incidents were like trivial matters, not worth mentioning.

"How could this happen... How could they all be dead?"

The others also looked ghastly pale. They had seen dead people before, but never so horribly dead. The bodies of twenty or thirty people were twisted and entangled, and the entire container was filled with a stench.

The floor inside the container was a mix of vomit, excrement, foul-smelling, bloody feces, and stomach acid, covering the surface of each body, eyes wide open in death, with expressions of terror. The horrifying and disgusting scene was extremely impactful.

The grim expressions of those corpses, their bulging eyes, stared straight at him, as if narrating their terrifying experiences before death. No wonder that young man earlier was so frightened; anyone would be afraid after seeing such a horrifying scene.

"Slap... slap... slap..."

Suddenly, a series of slaps echoed in the factory. The others looked up, only to see their boss furiously slapping his own face.

"Boss?"

One companion tentatively called out.

"Slap!"

Boss Snake delivered a final slap to his own face, his cheeks twitching. He took a deep breath, but seemed to inhale the stench again, and coughed disgustingly a few times.

"Go get the flashlight."

Boss Snake panted, turning sideways to look at his subordinates behind him, and ordered. "Brooms, buckets, gloves, flashlights, bring them all here."

The subordinates froze, slowly stood up, and asked, "Boss, what are you going to do?"

"Idiots!"

Boss Snake cursed angrily, his face dark. "What else can I do? Of course, clean the inside!"

"Are you just going to leave it here?"

The subordinates looked at each other, swallowed, and looked at the container with disgust.

"Forget... forget it, Boss."

"It's too stinky in there; I can't handle it."

"I'll take the lead, stop being so damn wishy-washy, hurry up and do it!"

Boss Snake roared, making everyone jump in fright. They quickly rushed into the factory, grabbing various cleaning tools.

"Damn it, so many bodies, what on earth happened?"

Boss Snake wore gloves and a mask, holding a flashlight that shone into the container. The flashlight's beam was much brighter than a phone's, making the dimly lit interior of the container appear even more "vivid."

"Ugh..."

One subordinate following him couldn't help but dry heave, but he had nothing left to vomit; he had already thrown up everything he could.

"Boss, how are we going to clean all this at once?"

Another subordinate asked in a low voice, his face pale, his legs trembling slightly.

Boss Snake's flashlight beam swept across the bodies scattered everywhere. The situation here was simply terrible. His leather shoes stepped on various dirty mixtures, slowly sinking in.

"Damn it, I'm definitely throwing these shoes away."

Boss Snake cursed under his breath. His flashlight beam landed on a young woman with a beautiful face. Her pale face was almost entirely covered in filth. She lay motionless on the ground, clearly dead.

Boss Snake stopped. He dared not go deeper.

"You, drag all the bodies out, dig a pit, burn them first, then bury them." Boss Snake turned and ordered his subordinates, then walked outside.

"Huh?"

Just as he brushed past two subordinates, his flashlight beam hit a corner of the container exit. A man and a woman were embracing, seemingly protecting something.

Boss Snake walked over, raised his right leg, and pushed hard on the male corpse, increasing the distance between the two bodies slightly. Only then did he see that there was a child held between the two corpses. Boss Snake estimated the child's age to be no more than five. He was huddled in his parents' arms, eyes tightly closed, looking extremely pitiful.

Just as Boss Snake's heart filled with emotion.

"Swish!"

The female corpse's eyes suddenly opened, staring directly into Boss Snake's eyes.

"Bang!"

The female corpse's pale arm suddenly shot out, tightly grabbing Boss Snake's right leg.

"Ah!!!"

Boss Snake was startled, leaping "three zhang high," hitting the top of the container with a "bang," and falling to the ground. His hands landed on a mixture of feces and blood, and he struggled on the slippery ground.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!..."

Boss Snake's lips trembled, profanities continuously spewing from his mouth. He fiercely kicked the female corpse with his right leg.

"Boss, what happened?"

His subordinates immediately turned and gathered around, which helped him calm down a little. With the flashlight's beam, he saw that the female corpse's hand had released his leg.

"Save... save... the child..."

The female corpse's lips moved. Her pale face sent a chill through everyone's hearts. This woman was actually still alive.

"Hurry up and help me up!"

Boss Snake cursed angrily. The two quickly grabbed Boss Snake's arms and helped him up.

"Drag her out of here, wash her with water, and give her something to eat and drink." Boss Snake broke free from the two and ordered, then stomped out angrily.

"I'm going to take a shower. You guys clean the inside properly."

"Yes..."

Everyone put on long faces. What kind of day was this? It was too unlucky.

Ten minutes later, Boss Snake emerged from the factory's shower room. Seeing his subordinates still dawdling, having only moved six or seven bodies out, he couldn't help but shout loudly.

"You idiots!"

"Hurry up! Don't you want to get off work early!?"

With that, Boss Snake looked around again and said.

"Where are Siko and Naza?"

"Uh, they both went to shower too."

"They got too much excrement on them when they helped you up. If they don't wash, they'll stink themselves to death."

The few people who were moving the bodies laughed loudly. Boss Snake ignored them and asked.

"Where's that woman?"

"Over there, Boss."

One of them pointed to the other side. Boss Snake strode towards the corner of the wall over there. He was naturally very concerned about the woman who had left such a deep impression on him.

"Why isn't she clean?"

Boss Snake looked at the woman, who still had dirt on her, and questioned.

"Uh..."

"Boss, she's really too dirty and smelly. We just lightly rinsed her with water, and she's also..." A subordinate's face showed difficulty as he explained.

"Go get water. I'll wash her." Boss Snake ordered.

"Okay, Boss."

A few subordinates immediately went to fetch water, carrying several full buckets. Boss Snake grabbed one bucket and poured it all over the woman with a "splash."

Boss Snake cleaned the woman with gloves, then picked up another bucket and poured it all over her. After a moment, the woman was much cleaner. The cold water also woke the unconscious woman.

"Hmm..."

She opened her eyes with difficulty, groaning in pain. Her body leaned against the wall, unable to move.

"Hey, can you hear me?"

Boss Snake waved his hand in front of her face and shouted loudly. "If you can hear me, nod your head."

Boss Snake saw she didn't react, so he changed his method of communication. Indeed, the woman nodded. Boss Snake understood; she could hear, but she couldn't move.

Boss Snake looked at the woman's face. It was delicate and pretty, looking young, around twenty years old. Her figure was slender and well-proportioned. He couldn't help but have strange thoughts.

"Damn it, there's only one survivor, don't let her die so easily."

Boss Snake reached out and touched her forehead. It was burning hot. He touched her face again; it was still burning hot.

"Strange, this doesn't seem like a fever either..."

Boss Snake muttered to himself, then stood up and ordered his subordinates.

"Hurry up and help, you idiots."

A few subordinates quickly said "Yes" and stepped forward to help the woman up.

"Boss, should we send her to the hospital?"

"Idiot, wouldn't that expose us?"

"Alright, who's going to the city to buy some medicine?"

"What kind of medicine?"

"Just buy some fever and antipyretic medicine. Buy a lot; maybe we'll need it too."

A man wearing a baseball cap nodded, turned and walked out of the factory. The others placed the woman on a sun lounger and continued cleaning the container.

"Tap tap tap..."

Three minutes later, a rapid footsteps suddenly sounded outside.

"Boss, Boss, bad news!"

"The police are here!"

"The police drove over from the city!"

The baseball-capped man who had gone to buy medicine earlier rushed back to the factory, shouting as he ran.

"What!?"

Boss Snake and the men all changed their expressions drastically. They dropped everything in their hands, packed up their belongings, and prepared to flee.

"Quick, quick! And, take this woman with you."

"Boss, at a time like this, don't take that dying woman, okay?"

"Shut up, I told you to take her, so take her!"

Two subordinates heard this and helplessly lifted the woman, carrying her on their backs.

"Boss, Naza and Siko are still showering inside, what do we do?"

"Forget them, hurry and go!"

Boss Snake called out, then immediately led everyone to run from the other side of the abandoned factory. There was an escape tunnel there, specifically for fire prevention, which now came in handy.
