Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Supporting Down the Mountain

"The poison has been neutralized, I'm leaving now!"

Lin Xi hated being threatened all his life. Though this woman was beautiful, her commanding tone made him not want to bother with her.

Bai Bing saw Lin Xi showing signs of ignoring her and turning to leave, completely disregarding how a delicate beauty like her was helpless in the wilderness, and what if something happened!

"You scoundrel, do you not know how to show compassion towards a beauty?"

Bai Bing cursed inwardly and hastily said, "Wait for me!"

Lin Xi kept a stern face, not stopping his pace, and continued down the road.

"Hey, Lin Xi, I'm descending the mountain too, let's go together." Bai Bing suddenly panicked, desperately trying to stand up and catch up with Lin Xi.

"Ouch!"

Bai Bing felt weak, her injured leg trembling, and she fell onto the grass, looking pitifully at Lin Xi.

Watching Lin Xi's receding figure, she thought about how every time she, such a beautiful woman, casually said anything, admirers would swarm in, eagerly responding.

Of course, she never showed a good face to those admirers and always kept a significant distance.

And now, as she made such an effort, she ended up with this kind of result.

Such grievance was something she had never endured!

The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, prompting Bai Bing to sob quietly.

"What are you crying for? Let's go together!" Lin Xi sighed and turned back, shaking his head as he spoke.

Bai Bing suddenly felt embarrassed, considering herself an impressive young CEO, yet today she had ended up in such a predicament—and crying in front of a strange man for the first time ever.

It was utterly humiliating!

He could just leave, but did she really have to rely on him?

After resting for an hour, she could regain enough strength to walk out of here.

Although there might be potential dangers being alone in the wilderness, there were ways to avoid them.

"What's with today? Could it be that I'm attracted to the man who just saved my life?" Bai Bing startled herself with her thoughts and shook her head to quickly deny them.

Aside from being somewhat handsome and possessing medical skill, what was good about him?

His attire resembled a migrant worker's!

His demeanor, the disc he tossed earlier—surely it was him!

More crucially, he was ready to leave a damsel in distress!

"Are you coming or not? If not, I won't wait for you!" Lin Xi found himself speechless; why had she suddenly spaced out?

The bus heading to Chuzhou City from the foot of the mountain only runs once a day!

"Can you help me down the mountain?" Bai Bing vowed she had never been this nervous before.

"Why should I?" Lin Xi replied indifferently.

Ahhhhh~

Bai Bing felt she was going insane.

Why?

Is her beauty not enough?

Is helping an injured girl not expected?

Oh dear!

Who is this person, destined to be single for life!

Despite feeling furious, Bai Bing forced a smile on her face, "I'll give you a thousand bucks, how about you help me down the mountain?"

"No need for money!" Lin Xi scanned her graceful silhouette with an inexplicable expression in his eyes, muttering to himself,

"Heh, woman!"

Bai Bing pretended to ignore Lin Xi's gaze, suppressed her anger, "Then what should I do for you to help me?"

"Kiss me and I'll help you!"

"Why don't you drop dead!" Bai Bing truly got angry for the first time in her life, uttering a curse, then turned her head, unwilling to look at Lin Xi.

"Hmm."

Lin Xi suddenly let out a light hum.

On Bai Bing's index finger was a delicate ring embedded with a blood-red gemstone.

No, that's not a gem.

"Give me that ring on your finger, and I'll help you, and promise you three things in the future!"

"Take it, just help me down the mountain, no need to promise me anything extra." Bai Bing surprised Lin Xi with her willingness to take off the ring and hand it over.

The reason for her willingness was that Lin Xi saved her life, so she considered it repaying his kindness.

Besides, to her, the ring was merely decorative. While surely valuable, it wasn't a piece she was deeply attached to.

However, refusing those three promises—if top international mercenaries were aware, they would be utterly frustrated.

Even spending billions couldn't make Lin Xi promise anything!

It's essential to know that he's the ruler of the Dark Night!

With his favor, one might dominate the mercenary world, even globally!

Lin Xi didn't say more. Whether or not the recipient accepted his promises, he would fulfill them when an opportunity arose.

Ignoring Bai Bing's bashfulness, he extended his hand to her slender waist, savoring the subtle, unique fragrance.

As Bai Bing was still weak with little strength, she could be described as delicate as a feather.

Once Lin Xi helped her up, her entire weight naturally leaned towards him.

She sensed something amiss but had no choice; she had to rely on Lin Xi now.

So, with her face flushed, she bowed her head, saying nothing.

Lin Xi was pleased to remain silent as well, especially feeling the woman's weight pressing against him incrementally on the slope—it was quite an experience!~!

"Where are we headed after we descend?" Bai Bing attempted to break the awkward silence.

"Chuzhou City."

"Chuzhou City? How coincidental, I'm going there too, let's go together!" Considering Bai Bing's current state, traveling solo in a vehicle wouldn't be safe; she needed someone to care for her.

Overall, Lin Xi seemed reliable!

"Alright!"

After another bout of silence, Bai Bing inwardly cursed, "You're a man; do I have to speak up every time?"

"What are you doing in Chuzhou City?"

"To attend university, Jiangnan University."

"Oh, didn't expect you to be so well-educated!" Bai Bing's impression of Lin Xi diminished further; he looked like a migrant worker, albeit with some minor skills, but hardly like a recent high school graduate.

Moreover, Jiangnan University was a top-tier educational institution in the south.

Was this school accessible to just anyone?

"Junior year? What's your major?" Bai Bing aimed to expose Lin Xi as a fraud, hoping to embarrass him further, so she asked again.

"Not sure, probably a freshman, I don't know the major either, the old man just gave me the admission letter from Jiangnan University." Lin Xi replied casually.

",,," Bai Bing was speechless, thinking, "Pretend all you want, but at least make it believable!"

"Where did you attend high school?" Bai Bing felt Lin Xi had reached the pinnacle of shamelessness and utter disregard.

"Never attended high school!" Lin Xi candidly replied, all his skills and knowledge were taught by the old man—he'd never been to school.

The old man once said, "The knowledge I taught you could easily place you as a professor at Jiangnan University; it's generous of me to acknowledge them."

Bai Bing already felt the conversation had reached its limits and chose to remain silent.
