Feng Jiaqi bit her lower lip tightly, her reddened eyes shimmering with unshed tears. Red, angry marks from the rope scored her pale shoulders and neck, making for a pitiful yet endearing sight.
"Chen Pingchuan, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"If you hate me, just say so. You don't have to torture me like this. After everything that's happened, you're still... still doing *this* to me. How am I supposed to go on? I..."
Before she could finish, Feng Jiaqi burst into loud sobs, leaving the nearby Chen Pingchuan utterly speechless.
Did I get here too late? Or was my approach all wrong? I haven't even done anything, so why is she crying? he wondered in confusion.
Then, as if driven by instinct, one of his hands trembled as it reached out. When his fingers grazed her fair neck, he clearly felt her body give an involuntary shudder. Even so, Feng Jiaqi made no move to resist.
