Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: First Victory

Several blue arcs flashed on the arena, the warrior attacking Pei Yan's back got his arms tangled by iron whips emerging from Pei Yan's body, and together with Pei Yong who was pinned to the ground, suffered a fierce electric shock.

"Bang, bang, bang," several crisp explosion sounds rang behind him, iron ropes snapped in response, before Pei Yan could continue connecting, a booming explosion sounded again on him, blasting him away from Pei Yong.

This time, as Pei Yan was horizontally flying out, his right hand flung over a dozen ropes diagonally, winding around the waist of the warrior kneeling on one knee in a paralyzed state.

Upon seeing the opponent's face, Pei Yan recalled the name Shen Bing from his self-introduction, rolled over and stood up again, raised his right hand and aggressively pulled the connected ropes, yanking the opponent towards himself.

"Zhang'Er, blow that rope open!" A warrior's anxious shout echoed from within the mist.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Out of nowhere, several more explosions sounded, yet those dozen ropes remained undamaged, stubbornly completing their mission by dragging Shen Bing in front of Pei Yan.

"This is what it means to reap what you sow, using our stuff against us, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene rope! This kid sure knows how to learn and apply quickly!" Liu Xuan shouted indignantly, standing outside the arena with his hands on his hips.

Pei Yan wasn't thinking about so much now; he only knew that this Shen Bing, if truly like the system hinted, could use qi to destroy internal body parts, then he was the biggest threat to him at the moment.

If he aimed at Pei Yan's head first, Pei Yan might have been transported out of the game earlier; thinking of this, Pei Yan didn't hesitate anymore and launched a fierce knee strike towards the opponent's abdomen, not adding any piercing damage this time out of courtesy.

This Shen Bing had an unusual constitution, to regain his senses after such a brief electric shock, barely propping up his hands to withstand Pei Yan's knee strike, but his arms emitted slight sounds of bone cracking, and having been pulled in front of Pei Yan, his body was knocked flying.

Pei Yan didn't intend to abandon his attack like this, at the moment Shen Bing was knocked out, he forcefully pulled the ropes and dragged him back, twisted his body on the spot, and delivered a fierce side kick to Shen Bing's waist, causing him to cry out in pain, spraying blood and flying out sideways.

This string of actions was completed in the blink of an eye, all in less than forty seconds; Shen Bing suffered multiple strikes and flew diagonally towards the edge of the arena, yet even like this, the arena system still hadn't determined his failure to teleport him out.

Just as Pei Yan hesitated whether to launch another fierce attack, the opponent's relentless explosive offensive completely bewildered him; one successive explosion precisely detonated outside his helmet, before he could react, his body was lifted into the air, with Pei Yong recovering and rushing up, then body-slammed him to the ground, raining iron fists furiously onto his helmet.

"Gu Shenghui! If I damage his body tissues, can they recover after he exits?" Pei Yan raised his arms desperately protecting his head, shouting through the amplifier.

Gu Shenghui didn't get angry at Pei Yan calling him by name; sweating profusely and excitedly chewing betel nut, he shouted loudly with his hand on the side of the arena: "Yes! Any injury that is not a fatal blow can be restored once out of the arena!"

"Pei Yong, be careful!" Liu Xuan and Instructor Miao echoed loudly from outside the arena.

But it's too late to speak, Pei Yan pinned to the ground had already resorted to the counterattack technique taught by Xiaoxia. His left foot stomped on Pei Yong's waist, left hand gripping Pei Yong's left wrist, right hand pressing his right wrist, pulling Pei Yong into his embrace.

Right leg raised high around his head, threading through from behind his neck, intertwining with Pei Yong's back-bound left leg; both legs clamped around Pei Yong's head, released his hands and fully strangled his head.

"Pei Yan! Well done!" Xiaoxia cheered loudly!

The tensioned Hu Wenjun asked sideways: "Did you teach him that? It's not military combat technique, right?"

"Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, triangle choke!"

But this time Pei Yong wasn't simply being strangled; numerous nerve-wracking ropes emerged from Pei Yan's body, firmly fixing Pei Yong and Pei Yan together.

"Ahhhh!" Pei Yong's miserable howl echoed from Pei Yan's embrace.

Continuous explosions targeted Pei Yan's helmet again, his visor finally couldn't withstand the bombardment and formed cracks, exploding, repairing, exploding, repairing; this process continually cycled before Pei Yan's eyes. He shut his eyes tight and clenched his teeth, letting the shards from the explosions penetrate his cheeks, leaving him bloodied.

Ninety seconds later, a flash of blue light signaled Pei Yong's exit!

A group of people, including Liu Xuan, ran to the edge of the arena, looking at Pei Yong, who knelt on one knee, gasping aggressively, and asked concerned: "How was it, what techniques did that kid use!"

"Sorry, Captain, I was too reckless, broke formation, and underestimated him; that kid is tough!" Saying this, Pei Yong, still frightened, looked back at the arena and touched his newly regained sight: "He had dozens of high-speed rotary drills extending from his chest and arms, drilling desperately into my body, I couldn't break free, my chest and eyes were ruined, that's how I got transported out."

After finishing, he sighed, having warned his friends through Han Wei's awareness immediately upon exiting, never to be entangled closely by Pei Yan, as he, the power wielder of the team, had already lost to him.

Listening to Pei Yong's story, Liu Xuan didn't overly reprimand his subordinate, patting his shoulder and letting him rest aside. Although exiting the arena automatically restored one's body state to its previous imprint, substantial energy and stamina consumption still required a day's rest to recover.

Having done all this, Liu Xuan looked thoughtfully and glanced at Gu Shenghui, standing at the edge of the arena with a increasingly sinister smile of black teeth; the fastest advancer and strongest person among peers, had he once again fallen into Gu Shenghui's trap?

Whereas, standing at Gu Shenghui's other side, Xiaoxia, after Pei Yan successfully eliminated an opponent, let out a long breath and nudged Hu Wenjun with her elbow: "Downed one, Captain Hu, why still the gloomy face, there's a chance for Pei Yan to win!"

"Not necessarily!" Hu Wenjun shook his head tensely and dismissively: "Xiaoxia, Pei Yan once asked me, who is stronger between the superpower users in the bureau and the military! He may not understand, but you do, right?"

Xiaoxia was taken aback by this and understood Hu Wenjun's implication, silently turning her head towards the arena.

Seeing Xiaoxia silent, Hu Wenjun murmured in some frustration: "At the time I didn't tell him if it came to individual combat strength, both sides are extremely talented, but in terms of coordinated combat ability, we are much inferior. In the military, emphasis isn't on individual prominence, but enhancing a team's overall tactical capability."

Saying this, Hu Wenjun expressed concern: "Though Pei Yan successfully took down one of them, his trump card is nearly out, while at least two of the opponent's real capabilities remain unknown!"
