"wuuuuuuu"
Rex woke up to the dull mechanical sound of an air ventilation system, the first sensation that came to him was 'Cold!!!'.
He felt cold air madly assaulting his exposed back as he lay on glossy white marbled floor.
"What the heck" Rex couldn't help complaining as he pulled himself upward from the ground, his eyes darting around to see if he could find the stupid ventilation unit that had been punishing him as he lay on the floor. He did not find the 'Ventilation Unit', but he found something else.
A lady sat in a secretarial pose behind a marble desk, studying him like a specimen. The first thing that he noticed about her, apart from her flowing silver hair tied into a high pony-tail and the silver rimmed spectacles that adorned her eye to match, was her presence, or the absence of it to be exact.
Even though his eyes were fixed on her, he couldn't shake the feeling that it was an illusion.
Rex prematurely terminated his search for the 'Silly Air Vent Unit,' as he sat in the seat facing the lady behind the white-marble desk.
As he sat, he took note of the predominant white theme of the room.
"Congratulations Overlord" the lady spoke before he was even fully seated.
"Welcome to the World of Cosmic Ascendance," she said with a smile. Her talk and bearing were at the standard of a world-class professional.
Rex silently studied her in silence, as he went through the information he had about the current setting. The white-themed space was a standard intro phase to Cosmic Ascendance, players could chose equipment and their starting apparel. Most of the information he had, did not have anything about a lady being present at this stage.
But some not-so-trustworthy channels had information about there being a powerful individual who granted those who could pass their Aspect Quest a reward, in this phase.
Rex concluded that this was the situation he was in.
. . .
"In regard to the unique nature of your test and class, you can ask three questions."
The Lady paused and studied Rex before continuing.
"These three questions are aimed at helping to clarify any confusion you might have, which I sense you do."
Rex silently studied her for some moments as he deliberated on what to ask.
"What exactly is the Overlord Class and how is it I qualified for this class?"
The silver-haired lady did not immediately reply, she was silent for an uncomforting amount of time, before she spoke.
"That was two questions."
"You will have to ask a single question if you want me to answer."
'So NPC like' Rex thought silently as he reanalyzed his question in his mind. He was already the Overlord class, he would eventually find out what it was. How he qualified for the class quest was another thing, with the information, maybe he could find a way to help Ella obtain a unique class too, plus it was rare information, he was sure very few people had heard access to this lady.
"How did I qualify for the Overlord Class?"
Silver-haired lady smiled, the query was appropriate.
"Talent," she answered as if the word itself was enough of an answer.
'Ta. .What!!!' Rex's face scowled in displeasure, but not for long, as she thankfully continued to explain.
"Every single individual, has a unique path, shaped by their unique talent. In Cosmic Ascendance, this unique talent is analyzed and is factored into allocating each individual a class through their performance in their Aspect test."
"A class that would allow their talent to shine, as is most appropriate for the world of Cosmic Ascendance."
She continued...
"Just like everyone else, your unique set of talents was your qualifications, for qualifying to challenge the Overlord class, and also your decision to."
Rex analyzed the information he got, it felt too far-fetched, but he couldn't deny the fact that players of Cosmic Ascendance always talked about how much they loved their individual Classes.
'Guess there's a reason for that' Rex concluded.
Sadly, there was no immediate way to benefit from the information. But at least he wouldn't have to join the arguments of which class was the best or not, everyone got what they are best in.
Rex wiggled a bit in his seat as he asked his next question. It was a little bit of an unreasonable question, but it was the question that just could not leave his mind.
"Is Alderom part of the World of Cosmic Ascendance, or was it just a simulation."
Silver-haired lady smiled, it was just the kind of question, she could use to motivate the young Overlord.
"As an F-Ranked player, you will begin your cosmic journey in 'Intirium', the planet specifically structured for low-ranked players. But as you ascend the ranks, you will gain access to several more worlds, and 'Balderia', the planet where your trial was held, is one of these several worlds."
Rex had no idea why, but he smiled when he heard that, he suddenly was in a much better mood. For the final question, Rex fully intended to ensure it would benefit him.
"Location of the most valuable treasure in Intirium?" He asked mechanically, guilt-ridden of his shamelessness.
"That's a very good use of your question slot," Silver-haired lady nodded approvingly.
"The value of treasures are never static, its dynamic, always varying with current want and circumstance, but in response to your question. I will give you this articraft as a reply."
A cylindrical gold-plaited tube materialized on top of the marble desk, Rex picked it up and observed it. It was closed on both end, with a mechanism that would unlock it if any of its ends were twisted.
"Eye of Eon's Parchment, Once it's opened, it will point you to the most valuable resource that fits your current want within your current world. Use it wisely," Silver-haired concluded with a warning.
"Now that you have asked your questions, let's move on to the important things."
