Chapter 6 - Sending the IV for a test

Chen Yiran wiped a thin sheen of sweat from her forehead as she stepped into the bedroom, her muscles pleasantly sore from the pilates session with Camille Su. She had become tired barely ten minutes into the core work particularly the roll-ups.

Then again, she had never worked out previously, running up and down in the Operating room had been the closest thing to exercise in her life. When would she have gotten the time to even work out.

But all in all, she had to eliminate the mommy pouch. 'To book a pilates class just after giving birth, Chen Yiran truly was diligent'

As she got inside the bedroom, she saw the nanny gently rocking Azalea, her tiny form swaddled in a soft ivory blanket. She had to take a shower. A few minutes then she was done, by the time she dressed, Azalea's cries filled the room.

"Oh sorry, mommy's sorry," Chen Yiran murmured, scooping her daughter into her arms and began to feed her after settling onto the plush post partem couch.

Azalea latched on eagerly and hungrily, her small hands curling against Chen Yiran's skin, letting out disgruntled noises of complaints between swallows. After some time, her movements slowed and her eyelids drooped, the warmth and comfort lulling her to sleep. Even as she dozed off, a soft cooing sound escaped her lips as if still scolding her mother for making her wait.

Chen Yiran chuckled softly, running her fingers over Azalea's delicate curls.

A knock at the door pulled her attention away. Butler Lu stepped inside, his expression composed as always, "Miss Chen, this was found in the labor room," holding the Dolitrezol IV drip, "Should I get it disposed?"

Chen Yiran looked up and saw it, her breath hitched. She thought she had stashed it out of sight but who knew the maids were that thorough?

"No, give it to me," Butler Lu handed Chen Yiran the drip before turning to leave with a bow.

"Butler Lu," She called out.

"Miss Chen?" He stopped, turning to face her.

"Give me Wang Zichen's number," She stretched out the new phone she had asked Butler Lu to get her before after she knew there was no way she was going to figure out Chen Yiran's password and she definitely wasn't going to wrestle with forgotten passwords.

Butler Lu keyed in Wang Zichen's number before he bowed once more and exited the room.

Wang Zichen was at Dr. Travis' office before his assistant Qin came in with his phone that Chen Yiran was on the line. Wang Zichen answered the phone with Travis' knowing glance. Travis' had insinuated that he feared Chen Yiran. 'There was no way he feared Chen Yiran!' he thought.

"Master Wang, can you send me an assistant?" Chen Yiran asked as soon as the line connected, her voice crisp and direct.

"Okay!" He felt compelled to answer, the word slipping out involuntarily. No one had ordered him that way before and yet he couldn't ignore her nor question her.

Chen Yiran then hung up.

Travis gave at Wang Zichen with a knowing look, "What did she want or ask you to do?" he prodded.

Wang Zichen shot Travis an icy look as he stood up ready to leave.

"Come on! Are you leaving?" Travis scrambled to his feet, trailing after him like a shadow, which he was ignored, "You are heartless!" He shouted at Wang Zichen who was long gone.

Wang Zichen slid into the backseat of his Bentley, his assistant following suit in the passenger seat then the driver and drove off with his convoy following.

"Assistant Qin, send Chen Yiran an assistant." He ordered. Without another word, he lowered his head and focused with the document he read on his iPad. Though his thoughts lingered on the woman who commanded him.

"Yes Director," he added, "The chairman sent a message requesting to see you."

Wang Zichen didn't respond.

They then arrived at the company, Assistant Qin went to arrange the assistant and immediately sent her to the mansion.

Not long after, the arranged assistant arrived at the mansion. She was directed to where Chen Yiran was waiting for her in the bedroom.

"Madam Wang," The assistant greeted her with a bright smile, "I am your assistant Zhang Pei!"

'That's a first!' Chen Yiran thought. She had never heard anyone call her that since she became Chen Yiran. It was almost comical.

"Okay Miss Zhang," Chen Yiran said.

"You can call me just Zhang Pei,"

"Just Zhang Pei okay," she then gestured toward the seat across from her, "Sit."

"Thank you, Madam Wang!" she sat, "I am really excited to meet you, Madam Wang."

"Nice to meet you too Zhang," She tried being respectful as Zhang Pei was too enthusiastic.

"Madam Wang..."

"Miss Chen," Scarlett corrected her, she had begun seeing one of the reasons why Miss Chen was preferred. 'Madam Wang' it was too mouthful.

"What?" Zhang Pei asked confusedly, her smile faltering for just a moment.

"Call me that, okay," she said, "I have something that needs to be tested."

Chen Yiran then handed the IV to Zhang Pei, her precise with an unfeignable grace, before adding, "Take this to Energy Hospital," She instructed, "Tell the doctor in charge to run some tests and I'll go get the result myself."

Zhang Pei then bowed and left. Before leaving, "Miss Chen I am really happy to work with you."

Energy hospital was Travis' hospital under Wang family.

Once the assistant left, Chen Yiran remained seated, her thoughts swirling like a storm. She pressed the call button on the bedside remote, the soft chime echoing in the room. After minutes, Butler Lu knocked then entered.

"Miss Chen?" Butler Lu bowed.

'He must hate me now.' Chen Yiran thought, a pang of guilt tugging her conscience. She had called Butler Lu a lot and she had learnt the servants were not allowed to use the elevator except for cleaning only. Yet there she was summoning the old butler repeatedly. It was convenient to her but not for old Lu especially with the aches and pains that came with age.

'She had to stop!' She decided.

"Butler Lu," she began, her tone urgent, "I need you to contact the cameraman or the videographer. I want the birth footage. All of it."
