Zoe's POV
Is there a problem?
I couldn't stop myself from asking, my voice quivered with a mix of relief and worry. I watched Garrett's face, searching every line, every twitch of his mouth. He had just looked over my shoulder so suddenly, as though a ghost had passed behind me. My eyes followed the direction of his gaze, darting, trying to make sense of what he saw. But by the time I turned back, his expression had softened again—first into something unreadable, then into a smile.
"Oh, no!" Garrett said quickly, lifting his hand in a half-wave, almost brushing the moment aside. "I thought I saw someone I knew."
Relief untied the knot in my chest. My lungs filled again, and I bounced back into chatter before the silence became too heavy.
