Zoe's POV
The steady click of camera shutters and the low hum of studio floodlights echoing through the Rosadelle Marvels space were familiar sounds that usually brought me peace. Here in Burlington, Vermont, far away from the shadows of Lakeside, the autumn air was crisp and clean, smelling faintly of damp pine and woodsmoke, washing over me every time I stepped off the practice runway.
To anyone else, Vermont was just a scenic backdrop of granite hills and quiet lakes. To me, it was a sanctuary.
