Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Case Closed (Please Collect and Vote for Recommendations)

"You two idiots, you didn't dare tell the adults you didn't have money for food, and you actually dared to go and rob. You two sure are foolish." Knowing Liu Cheng and Zhu Bin were robbing because they didn't have money for food, yet didn't dare call home, Zhou Weimin was so angry he almost laughed.

Then Zhou Weimin called the homeroom teacher of Liu Cheng and Zhu Bin. When the teacher came, Zhou Weimin and homeroom teacher Zhang Haiyang critically educated Liu Cheng and Zhu Bin.

After the education, Liu Cheng and Zhu Bin took Luo Fei and the others to find the phone and purse.

In the mulberry field, Luo Fei and the others successfully found the purse and lipstick, but they searched for the phone for a long time without finding it. Liu Cheng said he threw the phone in the mulberry field but couldn't remember exactly where. In the end, Luo Fei used a stone about the same weight as the phone to reconstruct the scene where Liu Cheng threw the phone, finally finding it.

Although the phone was found, it had fallen on a stone and was broken, definitely unusable; it was a new model iPhone, not cheap.

After finding the items, Luo Fei and the others returned to the police station, and it was already 2 AM. Considering the late hour, they did not contact Ms. Zhou to claim the items at the station.

Liu Cheng and Zhu Bin were taken back to school by their homeroom teacher. Since both were under 16 and the robbery wasn't severe, it didn't count as a criminal offense, focusing mainly on discipline.

Luo Fei returned home at 3 AM.

Having moved all day and then going through such an ordeal, an average person would be exhausted. But Luo Fei, having merged with the gorilla strength gene, possessed an incredibly terrifying physique, feeling no fatigue at all.

Luo Fei originally planned to sleep, but was in a highly excited state, lying in bed without any sleepiness. Unable to help it, he got up to read. With the sound of insects outside, Luo Fei found his study efficiency surprisingly high in the silent night.

The next day was Sunday. Luo Fei could have rested at home, but was thinking about yesterday's case, so he got up at seven.

Seeing Luo Fei awake early and preparing for work, Wu Yan scolded, while making breakfast, that he should rest at home, and felt distressed, knowing he had returned at 3 AM last night.

Luo Fei arrived at the office by 7:30, the first one there.

By 8:30, after memorizing an hour of "Evidence Law", people finally arrived. Master Zhang Haiyang and Liu Haiquan came in together, with dark circles and yawning, looking unawake.

"Luo Fei, you can come slightly later on weekends; no need to come so early." Seeing Luo Fei arriving early, Liu Haiquan thought he should inform him.

Next to him, Zhang Haiyang glanced at Liu Haiquan, "You're so talkative."

"What's wrong? I'm just trying to help," Liu Haiquan replied, looking innocent.

At 8:40, Director Zhou Weimin finally arrived late.

"Honestly, I don't know what happened. Set the alarm but it didn't ring. I overslept. Getting older, not as energetic, staying up late last night was too much. You can't defy aging!" Zhou Weimin spoke to himself upon entering, unclear whether explaining to himself or to Luo Fei and the others.

Seeing Luo Fei reading in high spirits, Zhou Weimin couldn't help but sigh, "Ah, young people have such energy!"

The police station staff that day included Zhou Weimin, Zhang Haiyang, Liu Haiquan, and Luo Fei.

Zhang Haiyang and Liu Haiquan were originally scheduled for duty, and Zhou Weimin stayed for the case; as director, he had to be present. Luo Fei came voluntarily, as he had nothing at home and was also thinking about the case.

At 9 AM, Zhou Yue, a female teacher from First High School, came to claim her belongings.

Zhou Weimin explained the situation to Zhou Yue, telling her the robbers were two vocational school students, and explained their reasons and the penalty for the students.

Zhou Yue initially said nothing, but when hearing of her phone's damage and seeing it, she immediately objected.

She said she wanted either 10,000 yuan compensation or an identical phone.

Zhou Yue's request was reasonable, and something Luo Fei and the others anticipated. Her not pursuing the robbery was already generous; expecting her to forgo phone compensation was unrealistic unless she's the compassionate Goddess of Mercy.

Liu Haiquan immediately contacted the students' parents, informing them of Zhou Yue's demands.

The parents, having heard from the teacher and police about the robbery yesterday, were frightened. They work hard outside for the kids; if harm comes to them, all their hard-earned money would be meaningless.

Upon learning their kids weren't going to jail, the parents were relieved.

Compensating 10,000 yuan for the victim was nothing compared to the robbery, so they readily agreed and instantly transferred the money.

Under the supervision of Luo Fei and others, the parents transferred 10,000 yuan to Zhou Yue as compensation for the phone.

Thus, the case concluded.

"Luckily, Zhou Yue is an understanding teacher; if it were someone else, causing trouble, it would drag on forever," Zhou Weimin sighed after Zhou Yue left.

"Indeed. Remember the case with Zhang Wenying's wallet two years ago? That gave us quite the headache," Liu Haiquan agreed, nodding.

Seeing Luo Fei's puzzled look, Zhang Haiyang explained, "Another robbery case; the robber was Liu Donglai, and the victim was Zhang Wenying. Liu Donglai was sentenced to six months for the robbery. We thought that would end the case, but Zhang Wenying later claimed mental distress and demanded 1 million yuan compensation."

"The compensation discussions went on without resolution, leading to frequent trips to the station, causing huge trouble. We're now afraid of seeing Zhang Wenying."
