Well, it's not exactly easy to confront something that they themselves wasn't sure but, the footage was enough of a proof that it is indeed compromised and that, this must be a work of a higher group of individual trying to mislead the police, although, perhaps it's not to mislead them because some of them are currently part of the officers.
She silently laid her palm behind her neck, as she watched Tony move from her screen, the movement was rather and yet gently but lacking as he tried to recap the footage, then he took the video that she had seen on the news earlier, and began looking at it again.
Silence was growing as she followed the footage, the surrounding was quiet, and solid to where it was already deafening, but then, the moment her attention took notice of that one scene on the screen, her lips frowned and nodded.
Mercedes Benz, the same car she saw earlier. There's no mistake, she tapped her fingers, and for the moment, she sneered. "Hey," she said, as she flinched her fingers. "Zoom in to that car, the Mercedes Benz behind that man," she requested.
The young man, Tony, who was busy typing had stopped when he heard Rubi's request through his speaker, when he looked at her, he followed her gaze at the paused footage and nodded. "Alright, give me some time," he murmured heavily.
Rubi nodded gently, as she watched the young man do his thing. A few moments later, he successfully zoomed in the footage, which then had been blurred even more, until Tony clicked something that made it become less blurry.
"Artificial Intelligence," he said, flicking his fingers, when he suddenly realized he was bragging. "Hehe, sorry, sorry, so, now what?" He awkwardly asked as he went back to typing at the other screen.
As she listened to his awkward and dense words, the young woman shook her head in gentle disbelief. "Yeah, about time you did something other than blow up my operation on the field," she said as she frowned, and then she looked at the footage again, before her eyes analyzed the plate number of the Mercedes Benz with a firm gaze.
Tony shook his head in embarrassment, feeling the light red blush leaving his face, he couldn't believe he'd bring that up. "I told you, I was never meant for any on-the-field operation, I have Social Anxiety alright."
She rolled her eyes at his retorted response before she took notice of the plate number on the Mercedes Benz car. The model is not commonly used by just any rich millionaire guys, this was Mercedes-Benz AMG S63, used rarely by high end people, but there is one thing people forget to notice when looking at this type of cars.
Some details are left unseen by many. It may be illegal to not have any plate numbers, but that doesn't mean it is not illegal to do something with the plate number. One thing for sure, the modern society of the underworld is getting advanced.
She can't take some risk from identifying these numbers. "Hey, can you scan the plate number, and try to see if the pixel per millimeter has its density," she said in a suggestive tone with a slight firm demand on her voice.
Tony was barely halfway through his work when he heard her demand. "You mean, scanning it to high extended resolution??" He paused as he held his chin and then he gazed back at his screen. "Hold on, I think we can extend the pixel since I had enhanced the image in High Resolution using Artificial Intelligence, it could work."
Somehow, Rubi just nodded at Tony's words, since she couldn't really understand much given that he had a tendency to get immersed with his tech mindset when given a chance. "Have you learned morse code?"
While the tech savvy Tony was working, he listened gently at Rubi's question with much anticipation. "I can decode it, probably," he said, as he looked at the image, then he began to extract and scan the plate number on the image. "It's an old code transmission from even before the 20th century."
Indeed, an old mechanical code that has been used over the time. So, she knew how well most people nowadays can decode these codes, that's not something she's surprised by now.
"Ok, done," said Tony as he moved to see the result of the scan. However, a few moments later, he was left silently breathing out. "So, at your request, the scan is completed. Plate number is pretty much legal, and there's no alteration to the plate numbers pixel," he said, his voice lowering into a slight sigh.
"Right," she said as she held her forehead. It couldn't be that she's mistaken?
It couldn't be…
"Hold on, are you suspecting underground activities? Mafia?" He inquired as he looked at the camera, straight to her eyes from the small lense.
As expected, sharp as ever. Rubi thought as she smirked, her heavy breathing was heard across her phone speaker. "Just an assumption, but given their recent activity lately," she trailed off as she darted and looked at the distance. "We can't ignore that they are under operation."
She is right, the underground organization had been doing something suspicious that didn't help them in their case to invalidate the suspicion that most have. He held his chin silently, his voice dropping low as he agreed. "Could it be?" He asked himself as he breathed in heavily. "They — "
Before he could even speak his thoughts, the young girl on the screen, stood up, her stride enough it caused a sound so loud and demanding it had Tony stop talking. His eyes gently followed her movement — not everything she does, but by her facial expression.
"It seems we had a lead," she murmured as she looked at the building in front of her. "That woman, Selena, came from the underground, right?"
That's right, they have Selena, the one who called Caleb, asking to hire some hunters or bounty hunters for a job that pays well, considering how good it is. Yet, given the unknown difficulty of the job, he was supposed to turn it down.
Hence, she was desperate for it, and needed the gig.
She raised her hand, her fingers reaching down her forehead temple as she pressed her thumbs, releasing that pressure she's been feeling since earlier.
Tony nodded his head. "That's about to sum up what we know about the client. She is from the underground or that she is connected to them in a way. According to her files she is a foreigner, who came to the United Stated ten years ago, following her sudden banishment from her own country," he said as he opened the files he compiled for Selena, their current client.
"She had a daughter, named Denise, who was about six years old, and a husband who — " he paused as he coughed and nodded. "He passed away in a sudden heart failure, as what the medical record said, but in may 7th, police reported that her husband had consumed a rat poison, a suicide case," he added to the file list that he knew so far.
Rubi nodded as she listened, then she leaned on the wall behind her. "A foreigner, and an exile," she muttered as she sneered. "Any information I needed to know about her?"
The young man clicked his mouse as he moved towards the next list. While Rubi, raising her thumb on her lips as she watches Tony work behind her screen. "Yes, there is. The client had ten private accounts, where five are currently under her six year old child Denise, and five others are suspected unknown."
Then he clicked it again. "What is more shocking is that each account held about half a billion dollars," he paused as he turned around to look at the camera. "Which is not the annual salary of a saleswoman…"
"Hmm," said Rubi as she nodded. "Too much…"
"Ehh?" Tony asked in confusion.
Rubi held his gaze as she purred excitedly. "She is not an ordinary client, that's for sure," she said as she chuckled coldly. "It's either a thief or… whatever role she has in the underground must pay her damn well."
Then she grinned as she smirked. "Nice to think someone can actually pay me half my labor," she murmured to herself as she gleamed.
To be exactly honest, she either gets scammed by Weiss' job list, and pays her half of what was promised or some clients are all broke, they refuse to pay. Either way, she stumbles upon a gold mine, and that's promising.
Tony was taken aback by her grinning smile that he couldn't help but to breathe it off, with a bit of caution written on his face. "I am not sure if I should be worried, but given your history with Weiss, I am gonna assume that. So did he ditch you again?"
He could tell by her expression that she's desperate, and knowing her relationship with Weiss. He had assumed that Rubi is currently desperate, and as far as many know in the shop, this woman's lifestyle is questionable.
