I sit on the couch in silence.
On the table in front of me, all the test kits lie in a neat row—every single one with two lines.
My foot keeps tapping against the floor. Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Okay," I whisper. "Okay!"
I suddenly grab my hair with both hands and lean back against the couch.
"I'm— I'm carrying Jiang's baby," I say out loud, like I need the sound to make it real. "I'm carrying a whole new life inside me."
My hand moves to my stomach again, slow this time, careful. It feels the same as always… but also not. Like something important is quietly happening without asking me first.
A weird warmth spreads through my chest. Happiness. Excitement. Fear—all tangled together, impossible to separate.
I let out a shaky laugh. "This is insane," I mutter. "This is actually happening."
My smile fades a little as reality creeps in.
