~Kael's POV~
Riven nodded sharply. "He's right. It would break her spirit, not bind her to us."
The chamber erupted into arguments, voices clashing like steel. I let it rise for a moment before I spoke, my words weighted.
"Show compassion," I said. "She is grieving. Allow her space. A month at least before such a night is forced upon her."
But the elders bristled, their faces as hard as stone. "No," Marcus countered. "We are not ruled by sentiment. Either take her or continue bedding your whores for an heir."
Karl growled loudly, and I did not conceal it anymore.
"You said?"
He cleared his throat and looked at my brothers. "Yes, she will birth a pure blooded, powerful Alpha. So what, you all are Alphas too. The line is only cut for females and not males."
Renhart rose and shook his head. "The Moon Goddess cannot give you a golden egg, and during trying times, you toss it away."
