~Author's POV~
Rather than voicing his thoughts aloud, he only said, "Your concern touches me, Elder Xander. Truly." His tone made it impossible to tell if he was mocking or sincere.
Before the elder could retort, another knock sounded at the door.
Almost immediately, Xavier's smile sharpened. Xade and Elder Xander exchanged quick glances.
"He is here," Xavier murmured, almost to himself.
"Enter," Xade invited and waited.
Due to the scent at the door he could already tell who it was. Only one man masked his scent with different fragrances when he traveled.
The door swung open, and a tall broad-shouldered, sharp-eyed man stepped inside, nearly matching the Alpha's height. His presence filled the room at once.
He crossed the study and bowed deeply when he stood before Xavier. "Alpha. Your Gamma has returned."
