CHAPTER 54
~Kael's POV~
"We need to call an emergency council meeting," I said, taking a deep breath. "Now."
In less than an hour, the council chamber was buzzing with nervous energy. The round room, made of old stone, felt heavier than the stones the wall was made of.
The council elders were gathered around their curved stone table, looking worried. We stood in front of them—Riven, Lucien, Darian, Talon, and I—like we were waiting for a verdict.
Elder Maris, her silver hair pulled back in a severe bun, spoke first. "Three dead guards, and a message carved into our sacred oak: 'The daughter remembers. The father's blood cries.' This is no coincidence."
She fixed her steely gaze on each of us in turn. "Rhiannon or her father's allies are behind this. Ryan didn't act alone; he had accomplices."
Riven snarled, his blue eyes flashing dangerously. "You're too quick to point fingers, Elder. Where's your proof?"
