In Konoha, night had fallen, but the Hokage's office remained lit. Sarutobi Hiruzen sat at his desk, poring over the latest intelligence from the Suna-nin battlefield.
Just days ago, he had dispatched Konoha-nins to the Land of Grass to counter Iwagakure's advance. Now, this report demanded his full attention.
Hiruzen read it from start to finish, then set it down, lost in thought for over ten minutes.
"I never imagined… truly unbelievable." Hiruzen muttered, taking a drag from his pipe to steady himself. He needed a moment to process. Konoha's clash with Sunagakure had yielded a monumental victory, largely due to one person: Tengen.
"What a kid." Hiruzen said, his voice tinged with excitement. "Capturing Shukaku, defeating the Kazekage, and single-handedly killing hundreds of Suna-nins, an unprecedented triumph. This is a decisive win."
"With this, Sunagakure won't pose a threat to Konoha for a while." he mused. "Perhaps assigning Tengen to the Iwagakure front won't be an issue."
Hiruzen had previously sent Anbu to summon Tengen and others to bolster the fight against Iwagakure, with Tengen as a key leader. Before, his youth might have raised doubts, but this battle against Sunagakure had proven his capability.
"Maybe Tengen can make a significant impact against Iwagakure too." Hiruzen said, his anticipation growing. He hoped Tengen could replicate this brilliance on the new front.
"But one thing stands out." Hiruzen noted. "Tengen possesses the Mangekyō Sharingan, the Uchiha clan's ultimate power, once wielded by Uchiha Madara."
"The Mangekyō… something even the current Uchiha lack." he reflected. "This might stir the Uchiha clan."
As for why Tengen hadn't revealed his Mangekyō earlier, Hiruzen wasn't concerned. It was likely self-preservation. Now, with his strength undeniable, Tengen had unveiled his power.
Hiruzen knew Tengen's character well enough not to treat him as an ordinary child.
"But at nine years old, possessing the Mangekyō Sharingan? That's beyond extraordinary." Hiruzen marveled, shaking his head. Nine years old with a Mangekyō wasn't just genius, it was monstrous, a talent surpassing even the First Hokage or Uchiha Madara.
This was a child favored by the heavens, a true child of destiny.
"Tengen, I hope you stay with Konoha forever." Hiruzen whispered, gazing at the starlit sky.
A faint worry gnawed at him, though he couldn't pinpoint why.
"I hope it doesn't come to that." he murmured. As Tengen's power grew, Hiruzen felt his influence over the boy waning.
"Enough of these thoughts." Hiruzen said, shaking his head. "This is a time for celebration. Konoha has gained a new powerhouse, a new hero, and we've secured an advantage against Sunagakure."
After all, Sunagakure's Tailed Beast was in Konoha's hands, a critical blow to their arsenal.
In a hidden underground facility in Konoha, the headquarters of Root, Danzō sat in secrecy.
This wasn't one of the bases Tengen had destroyed; its defenses were far more fortified.
Danzō studied the intelligence report on the Konoha-Sunagakure conflict.
"Captured Shukaku, defeated the Kazekage, and killed hundreds of Suna-nins alone." Danzō said with a cold smirk. "Impressive, Tengen. Truly impressive. I wasn't wrong about you. You're so remarkable, it makes me want to destroy you."
"If you can't serve me, you're a threat." Danzō said icily. "I'm growing more certain you were behind the destruction of one of Root's bases."
"But that power, the Mangekyō Sharingan, Susanoo, the legendary eyes." Danzō mused. "Countering such power seems nearly impossible."
"And the strength to defeat a Tailed Beast." he continued, his mind racing. "But I've heard rumors of an organization in the Land of Rain called Akatsuki. One of their ninjas possesses a mysterious power, similar to the Sharingan."
"The leader of Amegakure is Hanzō." Danzō noted, his eyes glinting coldly. "It's time to investigate further."
To Danzō, anything blocking his path had only one fate: death.
"Tengen, Konoha's hero, I look forward to seeing you fall from your pedestal." Danzō said with a sinister laugh, his voice echoing eerily in the chamber.
At the Uchiha clan compound, while many Uchiha ninjas had joined the Shinobi World War, Uchiha Fugaku had yet to enter the fray.
He knew that time would come soon.
But for now, his attention was fixed on the intelligence report.
"Tengen possesses the Uchiha clan's supreme eyes, the Mangekyō, and can wield Susanoo." the report stated.
"Mangekyō Sharingan." Fugaku said, stunned. "Why does Tengen have it? He's not an Uchiha. Could it truly be atavism?"
"At nine years old, with the Mangekyō, he's the true monster of the Uchiha." Fugaku said, his eyes wide with awe. Compared to Tengen, even Uchiha Shisui's talent paled.
"Should we reach out to Tengen?" Fugaku pondered, deep in thought.
