Chapter 135 - NT: 133: Reinforcements

In the central tent of Konoha's encampment, the ninjas grappled with the weight of Jiraiya's revelation. The news was staggering.

While it might not immediately impact this battlefield, it spelled grave danger for Konoha.

Two major ninja villages, Sunagakure and Iwagakure, were now allied against Konoha. Konoha's ninja forces were outnumbered, with fewer troops than even the Suna-nins alone.

Each battlefield required a spread of their limited forces. Even the initial deployment to counter Iwagakure consisted of just over a thouSuna-nins.

"Tengen, can you handle it?" Jiraiya asked, turning to him.

"Of course, but aren't you and Orochimaru-sama coming along?" Tengen replied.

"We're staying here to hold this front." Jiraiya said, shaking his head. "If your battlefield needs us, we'll send reinforcements."

"Understood." Tengen nodded.

"Tengen, consider taking your team with you. You're familiar with them, and they trust you." Jiraiya suggested.

Leading his own squad from this battlefield would make them his trusted allies.

More importantly, Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen had appointed Tengen as one of the commanders of the Iwagakure front.

Before, Tengen's youth might have made it difficult to wield true authority there. Now, after his recent feats, that challenge had diminished significantly.

His performance, single-handedly slaying hundreds of Suna-nins and wielding the divine might of Susanoo through his Mangekyō Sharingan, had become the stuff of legend, reverberating through Konoha and the ninja world.

Sunagakure's anguish, and Kazekage Rasa's torment, were palpable. Rasa's emotions, a mix of rage, fear, and helplessness, mirrored the oppressive gloom that had settled over his village.

Tengen's superhuman presence outshone even the terror of a Tailed Beast.

"No problem. Kushina, want to come with me?" Tengen asked, turning to Kushina.

"Of course! You're the captain, so I'm with you." Kushina said, rolling her eyes. "I'm your vice-captain, remember?"

"Alright, when do we leave?" Tengen asked.

"The sooner, the better. Konoha's forces are likely already clashing with Iwagakure." Jiraiya said.

"No issue." Tengen nodded.

"Good. I'll give you the location of Konoha's advance team and the communication protocols. You know how to contact them." Jiraiya said.

He briefed Tengen on the advance team's whereabouts, and Tengen rallied his squad.

The Konoha-nins under Tengen's command harbored no hesitation about heading to the Iwagakure front. To them, Tengen was a figure of utmost respect. Following him, no battlefield could instill fear.

Soon after, at the outskirts of Konoha's encampment, Tengen faced Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Namikaze Minato, and others. These comrades had fought alongside him on the front lines, forging a deep bond.

As the saying goes, war forges friendship. While ninja wars differed, some truths held.

"Jiraiya-sama, Orochimaru-sensei, Minato… everyone, farewell." Tengen said.

"Take care, kid. I'm looking forward to you crushing Iwagakure and adding to your legend." Jiraiya said with a grin.

"You got it, Jiraiya." Tengen replied, smiling.

"No 'sama', call me nii-san." Jiraiya huffed.

"Tengen, be cautious. Iwagakure is, in many ways, stronger than Sunagakure." Orochimaru said slowly. "Their Kage, Ōnoki, is formidable."

"Got it." Tengen nodded.

"Keep it up, Tengen!" Minato called.

"Don't worry, I've got the Flying Thunder God Technique." Tengen said. "Alright, everyone, see you later."

"Kushina, let's go." Tengen said, heading in a specific direction, followed closely by over a hundred Konoha-nins.

"Maybe Tengen will work miracles against Iwagakure too." Jiraiya said, watching Tengen's retreating figure with a smile.

"No need to worry about his safety. When it comes to escaping, Tengen and Minato are among Konoha's best." Orochimaru said, chuckling.

"Let's draft a reply to Sensei Hiruzen and plan our next moves against Sunagakure." Jiraiya said.

"True. Without Tengen, we'll need to adjust our strategies." Orochimaru said with a smile.

At first, the Suna-nins were unaware of Tengen's departure, remaining cautious and licking their wounds. Days later, when they learned he had left for another battlefield, they regained some normalcy.

They resumed their assaults on Konoha, and another figure began to shine: Namikaze Minato.

Tengen's brilliance had previously overshadowed him, but with Tengen gone, Minato's prowess, and his Flying Thunder God Technique, dazzled the battlefield.

At the border between the Land of Grass and the Land of Earth, the landscape had become a hellish wasteland.

In just a few days of probing skirmishes, the ground bore scars of ninjutsu, littered with blood and severed limbs.

Konoha's advance team had crossed the Land of Grass, intercepting Iwagakure's main force at the Land of Earth's border.

Fierce battles erupted. Though Konoha halted Iwagakure's advance, they were at a disadvantage.

Konoha was now fighting a war on two fronts, stretching their forces thin across both battlefields.
