Chapter 15 - Guild 3

1st to 4th floor has monster compositions of Goblins, Kobolds, War Shadows, and Dungeon Worms.

On the 1st floor, only Goblins appear. On the 2nd, both Goblins and Kobolds. On the 3rd floor, War Shadows are added. And on the 4th, the Dungeon Worm joins in.

The Boss Stairs of the 1st to 4th floor consist of the Goblin Lord, Giant Kobold, Baby War Shadow, and Dune Worm.

The Goblin Lord has strength similar to a human — weaker than the others — but there's one thing lethal to monsters: intellect. The Goblin Lord has a high IQ, over 200, all focused on combat and war strategy, capable of commanding an army of goblins.

The Goblin Lord is the general of the first floor. He was known as the Army Killer. The weakest of the four monsters in one-on-one combat — but his strength lies in group and army battles. In history, there was a time when a Goblin Lord was let loose in the Old World and wiped out several countries with his army of hundreds of millions of goblins.

Giant Kobold — a 4-meter-tall kobold, a monster with enough strength to lift a ton. Its only weakness was its slow movement. Its strengths were high physical attack power and fur as tough as steel, acting as natural armor.

Baby War Shadow, a meter-tall monster with a slim humanoid physique, sharp claws like blades, a single red orb-like eye, and a black misty body, like it was made of shadow. Its strength lies in its speed — reaching a hundred mile per hour— while its weakness is its fragile body. One stab is enough to kill it.

Dune Worm, a giant carnivorous worm with a body length of 50 meters and a width of 3 meters. Its only strength is its huge body and immunity to blunt attacks, while its weakness is its low defense — any weapon could spill its blood. Even a fork could wound this giant worm.

I continued to read the Monster Encyclopedia. In just an hour, I had read all its contents.

Next was the Almanac. I read it for a couple of minutes and then stopped. There was no information I didn't already know — in fact, I knew more.

Now, the last book — the Familia Encyclopedia.

Loki Familia, the strongest Familia in Orario, boasting three Level 7s, four Level 6s, one Level 5, and over a dozen Level 4s. They have 500 members in total.

They are an exploration Familia focused on dungeon diving and specialized in group battles. Their coordination is unmatched in the old world. On top of that, they possess one of the most feared mages in Orario — who awakened a unique magic never seen before, born after a deadly battle.

Nope. Next page.

I was searching for a Familia that was weak with no combat power whatsoever, but with large influence in the city — and I must like their goddess too.

Nope, I won't join a Familia run by a god. I preferred to farm after my dungeon dives — that's my way of relaxing after brutal combat in the dungeon's embrace.

An agricultural-type Familia would perfectly accommodate that.

Freya Familia, the second strongest Familia in Orario.

They're boasting one Level 8, four Level 7s, four Level 6s, seven Level 5s, and over a dozen Level 4s. They have 400 members in total.

They are an exploration Familia too, like Loki Familia. They are known for the talent and strength of their members.

They are undefeatable in one-on-one combat, but weak in group combat.

Nope next one.

Ganesha Familia, a high-ranking Familia boasting ten Level 6s, twenty Level 5s, forty Level 4s, and 2 million members.

They focus on taming and guarding the city, and their coordination is as good as Loki Familia.

Basically, they are the police of the city. They specialize in dealing with criminals and monsters, and they incorporate their tamed monsters into combat.

I hate being in law enforcement. That'd be too tiring. Just imagining dealing with Karens, crazy criminals, suicidal lunatics, and nonsensical complaints from people who think they know better — Nope. Next one.

Hephaestus Familia, a blacksmithing Familia — the best in the world in the field. After all, their goddess is the literal goddess of forging, the best in heaven.

They are also the richest Familia.

Nope. Next one.

A while later, I browsed through thousands of pages, searching for a Familia that met my criteria.

I didn't stop until I found one.

Demeter Familia — one of the largest agricultural-type Familia and the best in the world.

They don't have any combat forces.

And I liked their goddess too.

In the previous ones, I liked their goddesses too — but their Familia didn't fit my needs. So, bye-bye and see you later.

With that, I closed the book, returned everything to the shelves, and left the Guild — heading to Demeter Familia.

I had already memorized the layout of this city, thanks to the map Anastasia provided after I arrived in this world — so I already knew where the Demeter Familia was.

"Wheat Manor," I murmured, walking down Main Street.

The sun was setting on the horizon, bathing the world in its gentle orange glow. The clouds turned pink while half the sky revealed a starry canvas.

The unimaginable, incomprehensible violet planet loomed, dominating most of the sky's background — unmoving and unchanging.

Its massive chess pieces, scattered across its surface piercing its atmosphere, added a unique beauty to the violet planet.

In a certain part of Daedalus Street, inside an abandoned building — hundreds of cages contained various monsters of different looks and sizes.

They were all different… yet all the same.

They were Xenos — monsters with intelligence, the favorite children of the Dungeon, granted the gift of free will.

They could choose to serve the Dungeon and stay within its embrace…

Or they could long for the surface and live among the other races, leaving the arms of their mother — the Dungeon.

In this place full of cages, there was a group of people. They owned this place.

In an open area amidst the hundreds of cages, many people were relaxing.

Among them sat a man on a wooden box — his defining feature was his goggles.

Before him stood another man, his lackey, reporting something to him.

"Boss, Greg and his entourage just returned. My subordinates saw them enter through the Eastern Gate… but it's already been a day and they still haven't returned."

The man in goggles frowned after hearing this.

A beautiful girl with red hair had just arrived. She noticed his expression and asked,

"What's the matter, Dix?"

This girl wasn't human. She was a half-monster, experimented on and created by someone.

The man in goggles, known as Dix, replied in a gloomy voice,

"Nothing. There are just some rats that I need to dispose of."

The girl raised an eyebrow, amused.

Dix ignored her and ordered:

"I'll leave this to you, Eddie. Retrieve that item at all costs.

But if it's already in the hands of someone strong — don't provoke them if you can't win."

The man who received the order walked off silently to carry it out.
