Chapter 34 - The Auction of Shadows

After the duel and Adlof's return to work, the narrative shifts to a different perspective, in another place and time.

Two decades ago, on the borders of the Dog Empire, in a remote area beyond human control, there existed a peculiar settlement.

This settlement was managed by humans who betrayed their kind, allying with the tyrannical dogs in pursuit of power and wealth.

They traded humans, presenting them as commodities in public auctions, devoid of mercy or compassion.

One day, the anguished cries of a woman echoed: "My soooooon! Don't leave meeee!" She was being dragged away from her home, while her young son screamed, tears streaming down his face: "Moooooom!" A heart-wrenching scene, yet no one dared to intervene, fearing the region's leader, Faser, a ruthless man devoid of kindness or virtue.

The child, after losing his mother, lived in constant terror. On a fateful day, he was forcibly taken to the Dog Empire to live as a slave.

He attempted to escape, but they caught and bound him. "This merchandise is valuable; we can't afford to lose it," one man stated coldly.

Upon arrival at the Dog Empire, all humans were unloaded and handed over to the dogs. Prices were paid, and they were taken to the empire to be displayed at the auction.

"Here we have the first item: a young woman in her twenties, skilled in cooking and singing, of rare lineage. Who will start the bidding?"
