Chapter 140 - Netherworld Duke, Zhu Zhan

Huo Yuhao was confident he could take them on, but he might lose. He couldn't allow that. He had to interrupt them before they fused. Interrupting them was actually quite simple. What was Huo Yuhao's greatest strength?

Of course, it was his spiritual power. Just imagine, when Xiao Hongchen and his sister were at a critical point in their fusion, Huo Yuhao would hit them with a soul impact.

Coupled with Huo Yuhao's mysterious spatial abilities, he was completely confident in disrupting their fusion.

With the pressure of a Soul Saint's combat strength gone, the atmosphere in the meeting room instantly relaxed. After that, they had a symbolic discussion.

In short, it was summed up in four words: no problem.

Dong dong dong!

Just as everyone finished discussing and was about to leave, a knock sounded at the meeting room door.

"Come in." Huo Yuhao sensed that the person coming was Song Ming.

Song Ming pushed the door open and slightly bowed to Huo Yuhao, "Young Master, the White Tiger Duke wishes to see you."

"Why is it always this guy?" Huo Yuhao frowned, immediately replying, "I'm not seeing him." His tone was clearly impatient, to the point where he couldn't even be bothered with pleasantries.

"Hmm? What else is it?"

"Reporting to the young master, it's not just the White Tiger Duke this time. The Netherworld Duke is accompanying him."

The Netherworld Duke?

Huo Yuhao was a bit surprised. He couldn't figure out why that old man had come. He knew that the Netherworld Duke was Dai Hao's brother-in-law. While he wouldn't be implicated because of the First Wife's family, the two sides definitely did not have a good relationship.

Then what was his purpose in coming? The White Tiger and Netherworld families had intermarried for generations, and their children often interacted. However, Huo Yuhao's status in the Dai residence was no different from that of a servant and he had no contact with the Zhu Clan.

Seeing his young master deep in thought, Song Ming didn't urge him and waited patiently.

After a long time, Huo Yuhao still couldn't figure it out. He first looked at the people sitting quietly in the meeting room and waved his hand, "Go back to your cultivation."

The crowd now realized that the relationship between the father and son might not be as harmonious as they had initially thought. However, as subordinates, they didn't dare to pry and quietly retreated.

After dismissing the onlookers, Huo Yuhao instructed Song Ming, "Bring them here. I'm curious to see what the Zhu Clan is up to."

Huo Yuhao needed to understand the Zhu Clan's stance. Forming an alliance was unlikely, but it was best to avoid making them an enemy.

The continent seemed peaceful now, but under the surface, currents were already churning. First, there was the rivalry between the Sun Moon Empire and the Heaven Soul, Dou Ling, and Star Luo Empires. Then came the ambitions of Shrek Academy and the Holy Spirit Cult, not to mention the newly emerged East-Overlooking Empire.

It was foreseeable that the continent would soon descend into chaos.

"Yes." Song Ming was a man of action and couldn't grasp the complexities of the situation. He agreed and was about to leave when he was stopped again.

"Wait."

"Does the young master have any other orders?"

"Before we proceed, please go and fetch Lingyin Douluo."

Huo Yuhao was still cautious. Although he had his master, a super powerhouse, whose presence was a huge deterrent, his master wasn't here right now.

What if Dai Hao and the Netherworld Duke, emboldened by some crazy impulse, suddenly attacked? The Netherworld Duke was at least a Soul Douluo-level expert, not to mention Dai Hao. Song Ming alone wouldn't be able to handle them.

It's best not to harbor malicious intent, but it's also wise to be prepared. Besides, Huo Yuhao's relationship with these two wasn't exactly harmonious.

Not long after, Song Ming brought Dai Hao, dressed in fine clothes, and a short, stout man to the outside of the meeting room. The stout man was accompanied by a girl with twin ponytails.

"Young Master, the two Dukes have arrived."

"Huh?"

Huo Yuhao, inside the room, was taken aback. He'd told Song Ming to fetch Ran Hongyue first. Why had he brought Dai Hao directly?

However, despite his confusion, since they were already here, there was no reason to turn them away.

"Come in."

The heavy, luxurious wooden door swung open at Huo Yuhao's words, and footsteps followed.

Huo Yuhao looked up. Leading the way was Dai Hao, the man with golden hair and evil eyes. Unlike usual, today Dai Hao was dressed in a white and gold long robe, wearing white cloud-patterned boots. Coupled with his prominent features, he looked somewhat like an official. No, he was a high-ranking official.

Huo Yuhao only glanced at him casually; he had no liking for this man, in fact, he felt some aversion.

His gaze shifted to the right. Huo Yuhao saw a black-clad middle-aged man. This man was only about five feet tall and of a slightly plump build, but not to the point of being pot-bellied.

Black hair, black eyes, and rounded features. His looks were even better than Dai Hao's, and he always had a faint smile on his lips. There was no special aura about him, making him seem easy to get along with at first glance.

But Huo Yuhao didn't think so. The possessors of the Netherworld Martial Soul were born assassins, yet this man gave off a completely unremarkable feeling.

He believed that no one who saw him for the first time would associate him with an agile-attack soul master. Truly deceptive.

While Huo Yuhao sized up the portly middle-aged man, he also recalled information about him: Zhu Zhan, the current Netherworld Duke, head of the Zhu Clan, and an eighty-eight ranked agility-attack Soul Douluo.

Zhu Zhan held a significant position within the Star Luo Empire. Given the intermarriage between the Dai and Zhu clans for generations, Huo Yuhao had naturally heard of him, although this was his first time meeting him in person.

But that was all it was. The Zhu Clan's inherited martial soul wasn't of low quality, but it wasn't particularly outstanding either. The Netherworld lineage rarely produced Title Douluos. Zhu Zhan, nearing fifty, was likely at his peak at rank eighty-eight.

Huo Yuhao had to admit he was a little arrogant now, not even looking twice at anyone who wasn't a Title Douluo.

He turned his gaze to the last person, a young girl. She had the standard black hair and black eyes of the Netherworld lineage. The girl wore a light-green dress of moderate length, revealing fair and slender calves. She wore a pair of matching light-green crystal shoes, which were semi-transparent, hinting at her delicate feet.

It was difficult to determine her age because she had a doll-like face, with large, round eyes, a straight nose, and a cherry-red mouth, making her look like she stepped out of an anime. Add to that her twin ponytails, and she was a pure, classic lolita.

The only thing Huo Yuhao could confirm was that she was older than him. Why? Well, her height, of course. This girl and her father were complete opposites. Zhu Zhan was barely five feet tall, while the girl was estimated to be over five-foot-seven.

This height, well, it didn't quite match her doll-like face.

"Cough, cough, Yuhao, let me introduce you. This is my daughter, Zhu Rui. You two are around the same age, so you can spend more time together in the future," Zhu Zhan suddenly said.

Huo Yuhao looked at Zhu Zhan in surprise. What was going on with this guy? Didn't he know what kind of relationship we had? Why was he being so enthusiastic?

And what did he just call me? Yuhao? Huo Yuhao really wanted to ask, are we that close?

Also, it was hard to believe he could have a daughter so tall.

Come to think of it, Huo Yuhao felt like Zhu Rui's gaze wasn't very friendly, and her eyes were slightly red, as if she had just been crying. Huo Yuhao didn't understand what was going on.

Sigh, why am I thinking so much? Huo Yuhao suddenly realized his thoughts had wandered. He quickly came back to himself and gave Zhu Zhan a polite smile. "As you say, Duke. Please, take a seat. The environment is a bit simple, I hope you don't mind."

"No problem, no problem."

Zhu Zhan responded with a smile as he pulled out a chair and sat down. Dai Hao and Zhu Rui did the same.

As the three sat down, Ye Lingling, in a white dress, gracefully entered. She held a tray with both hands and walked past them, serving them tea.

After finishing all that, Ye Lingling obediently retreated behind Huo Yuhao, her hands clasped tightly in front of her, looking like a maidservant ready to take orders.

Huo Yuhao couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. He hadn't asked for tea, and even if he had, there was no need for Ye Lingling to do all this. This girl seemed very interested in his so-called family matters.

Seeing that the three of them hadn't spoken, Huo Yuhao naturally wasn't in a hurry. He picked up the tea in front of him and sipped it gently.
