Chapter 164 - A Deal with Tang Ya

Stepping out of the courtyard, the scene that met their eyes was one of corpses, everywhere. There were hunched-over old people, young men in their prime, and infants still in their swaddling clothes, crying for sustenance.

However, they were all dead. These people were all dead, with gruesome deaths. Skin and bones, missing limbs, lost organs, and all sorts of other horrors.

Tang Ya stopped, her feet rooted to the ground as she looked at the scene that resembled hell. Her whole body trembled, and her eyes instantly filled with tears. Her heart was struck with an unprecedented shock.

Huo Yuhao stopped as well, waiting quietly for her to recover. He understood Tang Ya's feelings, and he empathized. Anyone with even a shred of conscience would be unable to remain calm when faced with such a cruel and inhumane scene.

After half an hour, Tang Ya's emotions finally stabilized somewhat, and she started walking forward. Huo Yuhao said nothing, quietly accompanying her.

The two of them walked slowly along the village path, not caring about the direction, just going forward until the smell of blood faded after they left the village.

"Yuhao, if I say I didn't kill them, would you believe me?" Tang Ya spoke for the first time since leaving the courtyard.

Huo Yuhao didn't hesitate, and said seriously, "I believe you, of course I do. In my memory, Sister Ya will always be the kind and gentle Sister Ya."

Before Tang Ya could respond, Huo Yuhao continued, "Sister Ya, I actually know about your past. So, even if you really are an Evil Soul Master, I still believe you wouldn't hurt innocent people, and I still believe you're the lively, kind Sister Ya in my heart."

Hearing this, Tang Ya's body trembled slightly. She turned to look into Huo Yuhao's eyes. Those eyes were clear, bright, and pure. Tang Ya could see that Huo Yuhao's words came from the bottom of his heart.

Suddenly, Tang Ya laughed, a beautiful and lonely laugh. When she chose to walk that path, she knew she would be the enemy of the world. Her former friends, classmates, and even Bei Bei, everyone would want to kill her, because she was an Evil Soul Master, hated by all.

She never thought that after becoming an Evil Soul Master, someone would still be willing to believe in her. It was like a lone boat adrift at sea, returning to a sheltered harbor.

"Thank you, Yuhao."

Tang Ya's voice was a little choked, with a hint of weeping. The next moment, she stepped forward and embraced Huo Yuhao.

As for Huo Yuhao, he didn't move. He had spoken from his heart, but Tang Ya's reaction was somewhat unexpected. It seemed that Tang Ya's inner torment was even stronger than he had imagined.

"Don't move, let me hold you for a while, just a while."

Huo Yuhao didn't move, allowing Tang Ya to vent her emotions. He didn't take advantage of the situation either. At the same time, he sighed inwardly, thinking she was also a pitiable person. Tang Ya's parents had been killed, and she was unable to avenge them due to her insufficient talent.

Tang Ya's Martial Soul, the Blue Silver Grass, possessed the innate ability to devour life. However, Tang Ya had never used it before. Now, in order to seek revenge, she had used this forbidden power, embarking on the path of an Evil Soul Master. However, she was, after all, a kind-hearted girl, and becoming an Evil Soul Master caused her immense inner torment.

After a quarter of an hour, Tang Ya, whose emotions had calmed down, released Huo Yuhao. Her face was slightly flushed, and she said embarrassedly, "I'm sorry, I couldn't control my emotions just now, I made a fool of myself."

"By the way, what exactly happened before? Yuhao, how did you end up here?" Tang Ya's expression was a little unnatural, and she quickly changed the subject.

Huo Yuhao saw her embarrassment and didn't expose her. He then gave her a simple account of what had happened. From his passing by and discovering the village had been slaughtered, to helping the Golden-robed Woman kill the Evil Soul Master, and finally recognizing Tang Ya and saving her from the Golden-robed Woman, he recounted everything in detail.

Tang Ya listened in a daze. When she heard that the Golden-robed Woman wanted to kill her, she was first startled, then relieved. Yes, what's the big deal? Isn't this the result she had expected long ago? Only, fortunately, she had met Huo Yuhao.

Turning her gaze back to Huo Yuhao, Tang Ya instinctively wanted to thank him again, but the words stopped at her lips. It wasn't about anything else, but Tang Ya felt that a life-saving grace was greater than the heavens, and a simple thank you felt somewhat empty and powerless.

"Yuhao, you've improved so quickly. I remember when I first met you, you were only a Two-Ring Soul Master. In less than a year, you're already able to defeat a Soul Emperor."

Looking at Tang Ya's admiring expression, Huo Yuhao humbly replied, "Sister Ya, you're overthinking it. That woman had already exhausted nearly all her soul power in a battle with an Evil Soul Master, and she was also injured and lost a lot of blood. I just got lucky."

"Is that so?" Seeing Huo Yuhao's genuine expression, Tang Ya was still a little unconvinced. She knew that this little guy's strength couldn't be judged solely by his cultivation level; it was very deceptive.

But no matter what, Huo Yuhao had saved her from a Soul Emperor, which was still a huge risk. Thinking of this, Tang Ya's gaze softened.

"Of course. That was a Soul Emperor, after all. I'm only at level forty-one now." Huo Yuhao shrugged helplessly. In reality, he wasn't afraid of other Soul Emperors, but that Golden-robed Woman seemed to be a bit of a counter to him.

"Alright, I believe you, hehe."

Tang Ya seemed to have returned to her previous lively and cheerful self, but Huo Yuhao knew this was just a facade.

"Alright, Sister Ya, let's get down to business. I want to make a trade with you. Are you interested?" Huo Yuhao's expression became serious; this was the main reason he had asked Tang Ya to come out.

"Trade?" Tang Ya looked puzzled. Although she held the title of Tang Sect Master, she was practically a lone wolf. She herself was also penniless; what did she have to trade?

"Sister Ya, I want you..."

"Impossible, junior brother, we can't," Tang Ya exclaimed, quickly jumping back to create distance between herself and Huo Yuhao. She clasped her arms across her chest, giving him a very wary look.

Huo Yuhao looked at her, puzzled. He hadn't even said anything yet, so why was Tang Ya reacting like this? When he saw Tang Ya's expression, Huo Yuhao understood, and his forehead immediately sprouted black lines.

"Sister Ya, can you please let me finish what I was going to say?" Huo Yuhao felt wronged. Could it be that in Sister Ya's eyes, I'm just that kind of lustful, vulgar man?

Tang Ya shook her head. "Yuhao, we really can't. You're younger than me, and you know I have someone I like."

Tang Ya realized that perhaps her hugging Huo Yuhao earlier had caused him to misunderstand her intentions. But she really hadn't thought that much at the time. Tang Ya almost wanted to cry.

"Sister Ya, I want you to accompany me to a treasure land. Then, we can split the treasures we get there three-seven, how about that?" Huo Yuhao said, annoyed. Sometimes he really wanted to knock on this woman's head to see if it was filled with glue.

"Treasure land? Ah, is that so?" Tang Ya smiled awkwardly. So the other person didn't have that idea at all; it was all a misunderstanding on her part. Tang Ya wanted to find a hole to crawl into and disappear, she was so embarrassed.

"What else would I think?" Huo Yuhao rolled his eyes, then nodded firmly. "Yes, it's a treasure land, and I'm certain your Martial Soul will transform afterward. What do you say? Interested?"

Tang Ya was silent for a moment before asking again, "If everything you say is true, why are you asking me? My strength probably isn't much help."

Tang Ya had to understand this. If something so good existed, shouldn't Huo Yuhao be looking for stronger partners? She wouldn't be his first choice.

Moreover, she didn't completely believe Huo Yuhao's claim about Martial Soul transformation. It didn't seem like Huo Yuhao had any reason to lie to her, but Martial Souls were innate. How could they be changed so easily?
