Chapter 109 - Ch.109: The Shape of Comfort

Chapter 109 – "The Shape of Comfort"

"Before the world went quiet, it trembled with questions no one dared to ask."

---

Scene 1 – "Noticing"

Seed lingers near Levi as the crew breaks camp. She watches him from a distance—not out of surveillance, but because she doesn't understand why she's drawn to him.

Seed: "Why do I look for him before I look for myself?"

She wonders. The thought lingers.

No answer.

---

Scene 2 – "Brief Contact"

Levi brushes past her to pick up supplies. Their hands nearly touch, and Seed flinches—not in fear, but as if something within her trembled.

Levi doesn't notice. Or maybe he does, but refuses to engage.

---

Scene 3 – "Seed and Maiku"

The crew arrives.

Levi gives them a look but shrugs them off.

Maiku pulls Seed aside.

Maiku: "He's not well. And you're not a healer."

But Seed responds:

Seed: "He's colder now. But I feel warmer when he's near."

Maiku says nothing, only worried.

---

Scene 4 – "Levi Confesses"

Around a dying fire, Levi finally speaks:

Levi: "Seed hurt me. Not physically. Not with weapons. But with belief."

He describes the earlier encounter when she tried to soften his will using Rootling logic.

The crew is silent. Seed doesn't argue. She looks down.

Seed: "I didn't know what I was doing. I just… thought it would help."

---

Scene 5 – "Reen's Suspicion"

Reen walks alone, eyes scanning the twisted trees. She speaks aloud to the empty forest:

Reen: "You wrap yourself in philosophy so no one sees the hunger underneath."

She carves a mark in a tree. The bark heals in seconds.

---

Scene 6 – "The World Listens"

Villagers outside the Spiral Grove gather around floating fragments of the Root Body's words—like petals made of sound. They accept it as truth. They cry in peace.

> "Grief is pain. Pain is noise. We give you silence."

The world is quieting. Losing it's emotion. It's voice. It's sense of feel.

---

Scene 7 – "Levi and Gift"

Gift confronts Levi privately:

Gift: "She still cares about you."

Levi: "That's not care. That's contamination."

Gift: "Then why haven't you told her to leave you alone?"

Levi can't answer.

---

Scene 8 – "Seed's Night Memory"

Seed dreams of holding Levi's hand, but it turns to dust. She wakes with her palm open, trembling.

Seed: "I didn't mean to change him. I just wanted him to stop hurting."

---

Scene 9 – "Cracks in Philosophy"

Reen reads one of the Root Body's public doctrines aloud. She stops mid-sentence.

Reen: "This part wasn't here before."

The words have shifted, rewritten themselves. The crew compares old logs to new ones.

Ree: "It's evolving. Or editing itself."

---

Scene 10 – "The Cloak Theory"

Reen shares her belief to the rest of the Crew (Excluding Levi and Seed):

Reen: "The Philosophy isn't the truth. It's the blanket. The real body—the Root—is underneath. And it's hiding some type of thought that we don't know yet."

Matthew (responds): "Perhaps a way to take over minds and take away the world's sense of truth."

Reen: "Maybe."

They begin writing counter-theories on their hands, where the forest can't read them.

---

Scene 11 – "Seed's Near Confession"

Seed follows Levi into the woods and says,

Seed: "Do you ever miss being understood?"

He ignores her.

She adds:

Seed: "I think… I'd break every root in this forest if it meant you'd look at me like before."

Levi's eyes flicker, but he says nothing.

---

Scene 12 – "A Village That Smiles Too Much"

The crew enters a nearby village. Everyone smiles. Too many smiles. Too symmetrical.

People say things like:

> "We don't cry anymore."

"The Root is not a god. It's an agreement."

Maiku vomits.

Jakku's face twists in disgust.

Matthew nearly vomits.

Gift covers Reen's eyes from the weird moment.

---

Scene 13 – "The Body Below"

They see roots running under the village—pulsing, like veins. Reen whispers:

Reen: "We're walking on its skin."

---

Scene 14 – "A Tear That Doesn't Fall"

Seed watches Levi again. This time she doesn't approach. She just whispers to herself:

Seed: "Maybe love isn't meant to be returned. Maybe it's meant to ache."

---

Scene 15 – "Levi's Breakdown"

That night, Levi breaks. Alone, fists shaking, he mutters:

Levi: "I'm not angry at her. I'm angry that I want to believe her again."

He punches a tree until his knuckles bleed.

---

Scene 16 – "The Root Body Smiles"

Far away—or maybe close—the Root Body grows. A root pulses. A flower blooms where Levi bled.

Root Body(smirking) : "They're beginning to soften."

To Be Continued...

Narrator (Closing Monologue):

---

"Eyes search shadows, drawn without knowing why. The heart reaches before the self awakens."

---

"Fingers almost meet—a tremor, a silent quake felt but unseen."

---

"Warmth and cold dance in the same breath; a warning whispered in quiet concern."

---

"Words sharper than wounds, belief's weight heavier than steel."

---

"Philosophy's veil hides the raw hunger beneath a smooth surface."

---

"Silence spreads like falling petals, drowning pain in quiet surrender."

---

"Care twisted, blurred—love tangled in walls no one dares climb."

---

"Dust slips through fingers; longing lives in what cannot be held."

---

"Truth shifts like sand—unstable, rewriting itself without pause."

---

"Blankets hide the fire beneath; shadows move where eyes cannot see."

---

"Words spoken to empty air, hoping for a glance from a silent ghost."

---

Smiles frozen in place—comfort's cost is the soul's quiet scream.

---

"Roots pulse beneath skin, the earth itself alive with secrets."

---

"Love aches in silence, not for return, but because it must."

---

"Fists break bark; anger is grief's unspoken language."

---

"Beneath the surface, the seed of softening takes root, waiting."
