Chapter 118 - Ch.118: Day Three

Chapter 118 – "Day Three"

> "Some days are long. Others are final. This one is both."

---

Scene 1 – "The Body Still Hungers"

The Root Body opens its eyes.

It has no need to sleep, yet it rests—only to let memory calcify.

The merge is unfinished.

It knows where Seed is.

It sets out walking.

---

Scene 2 – "We Move Her Again"

Reen speaks first.

Reen: "We can't stay. We move her again. South, through the ash pools."

Jakku: "She's breaking down. She hasn't eaten in a full day."

Gift: "Then she eats while moving."

They've moved her seven times in a day. The eighth is the one they're dreading.

---

Scene 3 – "Maiku's Question"

Maiku stands next to Seed as she sleeps curled in fetal grief.

Maiku (softly): "What if she wants to go to him?"

Matthew: "Then we don't let her."

There is no democracy in apocalypse.

---

Scene 4 – "The Map is Burning"

Jakku unrolls their last terrain map. The outer rim is blackened, the ink bleeding.

The land is mutating.

Even maps rot under the Root's control.

---

Scene 5 – "He Will Come"

Gift: "We're wasting time. He will come."

Silence. No argument.

They all look east.

---

Scene 6 – "Seed Wakes"

Seed wakes from sleep with a cry that isn't a scream.

It's quieter than that.

Quieter, and worse.

She speaks only once:

Seed (whisper): "Levi?"

No one answers.

---

Scene 7 – "The Root Body Walks"

Each step ripples outward.

The ground doesn't crack. It exhales.

Even the wind seems to part.

He walks not with urgency, but inevitability.

---

Scene 8 – "She Can't Stop Crying"

Seed sits in Jakku's arms. Her face buried against his chest.

Jakku: "I've got you. I've got you."

But her sobs have no rhythm. They are not the sobs of a child.

They are ancient. Tired.

---

Scene 9 – "Preparations Begin"

Matthew lays their old weapons on a sun-warped tarp:

Ether Blades and Daggers. Shurikens and hand-thrown Arrows.

Reen: "Some of this won't work."

Matthew: "That's not why I laid them out."

Gift: "Then why?"

Matthew: "To feel like I'm not useless."

---

Scene 10 – "He Is Close"

Birds vanish. Even the insects retreat.

The air tastes like metal.

Gift (quietly): "He's close."

Maiku: "We hide her again."

Jakku: "We hold the line."

---

Scene 11 – "Seed Speaks Again"

Seed (barely audible): "I still feel him… trying to finish it."

Her eyes glass over.

Seed: "He's pulling. Not with hands. With... absence."

---

Scene 12 – "The Truth They Know"

They all sit together for ten minutes. No one speaks.

They know it's a suicide defense.

But survival has never been the goal—not since Chapter 100.

---

Scene 13 – "Maiku's Ribbon"

Maiku removes the black ribbon from his wrist. Ties it into Seed's hair.

Maiku (softly): "To remind you you're still yourself."

Seed nods. But doesn't stop shaking.

---

Scene 14 – "Where the Ground Turns to Teeth"

They reach the cliffs where the sand is sharp.

This is where they'll make their stand.

The terrain is narrow. High ground. A choke point.

> Narrator(to the reader): A place that was once a battlefield in Volume 3.

---

Scene 15 – "Last Light Meal"

Gift passes around dry roots and a single dried fruit.

They chew like ghosts.

Matthew (trying to joke): "Last supper with no bread, no wine, and no messiah."

Nobody laughs.

---

Scene 16 – "Jakku's Vow"

Jakku: "If he comes for her, he'll have to take me first."

He doesn't say it like a warrior.

He says it like someone who's already died before.

---

Scene 17 – "The Hunger Grows"

Inside the Root Body, Levi's memories flicker.

The hunger is not rage—it's yearning.

A divine ache. A fracture in need of closure.

The desire is not to kill, but to complete.

---

Scene 18 – "Night Comes"

They settle into the defensive pattern.

Weapons ready.

Gifts daggers sheathed.

Reen and Jakku's swords, ready.

Maiku—Sky-Fire fists ready.

Matthew's claws sharp as ever.

Seed is placed in the furthest crevice. Guarded by shadow and prayer.

Gift (last line): "We are ready. Just like the truth tree said the world will force us to sheathe our weapons."

The moon doesn't rise.

---

Scene 19 – "He Arrives" (Silent Scene)

We don't see him.

Only the way the horizon bends.

The air forgets how to carry sound.

And the dust begins to fall… upward.

To Be Continued....

Narrator (Closing Monologue) :

> "Some days are long. Others are final.

This one was both—drawn in silence, braided with ruin,

and carried by those who could no longer afford to hope aloud."

---

"The god rests not to sleep—

but to let Levi's memories become marrow.

And then it remembers: it's not finished."

---

"They carry her like a relic.

But she's no longer asleep.

She's just elsewhere."

---

"In some apocalypses, you ask permission.

In this one, you don't."

---

"Even ink betrays them now.

The land redraws itself in roots and rot."

---

"They don't doubt it.

They only wonder when."

---

"A name spoken once—

not in hope, but in habit."

---

"It does not chase.

It claims."

---

"Grief isn't loud anymore.

It folds into the ribs, where it tightens like old wire."

---

"These are not weapons now.

They are reminders.

That once, they fought."

---

"The air starts tasting like endings."

---

"He pulls not with hands,

but with absence.

Even silence has gravity."

---

"They sit for ten minutes,

as if memorizing each other

before being scattered like ash."

---

"Some gifts are not for fighting.

Some are for remembering you're not just the target."

---

"Old battlegrounds know the script.

The ground sharpens itself for war."

---

"Dry roots and cracked jokes.

They chew. No one swallows hope."

---

"He's already died once.

This vow is just the echo."

---

"The hunger is not anger.

It is longing with teeth."

---

"They make a pattern out of fear.

They place Seed like a secret.

And wait."

---

"No footsteps.

No figure.

Only the horizon folding in

and dust learning to rise instead of fall."

---

> "Day Three ends not with battle,

but with breath held.

With roots beneath, and silence above,

and the terrible knowing:

he has arrived."
