After everyone had entered and the doors were securely closed behind them, the survivors were gathered to one side of the gymnasium while the Evolvers grouped together to discuss their next steps. Now that the chaos had subsided somewhat, Zaid finally had the chance to recognize the faces of the other Evolvers.
First, there was Bai Zemin, his best friend—the one who had helped him adapt to university life after transferring in. Then there was Shangguan Bing Xue, the student council president and widely acknowledged as the most beautiful woman at the university. She had silver-white hair, icy blue eyes, and a cold, dignified presence that made her seem like a queen. Whenever her gaze passed over one of the Guys gathered especially the middle-aged man who was clearly ogling the female survivors, Zaid thought he could see a bit of disgust in her eyes.
Next was Chen He, he was a handsome young man who wielded a bow and arrow and also happened to be the president of the archery club. That was about as much as Zaid knew about him. Chen He seemed to naturally gravitate to Shangguan Bing Xue' side. From the way he looked at her, it was clear he had unrequited feelings for her—but she didn't seem to dislike him either. Zaid had even seen them walking together on campus before, so they were probably at least friends.
'Shit, I got sidetracked.' Zaid mentally shook himself.
Turning his attention away from the not-quite-a-couple, his gaze landed on the middle-aged man he had seen earlier during the battle. He was a university guard by the name of Liang Peng. Liang Peng didn't seem to be paying attention to any of them favoring instead to look at the female survivors that were resting around the gym.
While Zaid was scanning and trying to learn as much as he could about the other evolvers, he suddenly felt a gaze on him, he looked around but didn't see anyone. ' Must have been my nerves ' He thought.
Meanwhile, a certain Raven-haired Succubus, Lilith, was looking at Zaid with a questioning look in her eyes, she was thinking back to the battle outside and how the young man seemed to have the ability to summon skeleton soldiers and command them to do as he wished, even in her relatively long and eventful life she had never seen anyone with hat type of skill. ' I should ask about that skill next time I go to the faction headquarters maybe someone'll know something.' Lilith thought.
Suddenly, a voice cut through their conversations and thoughts. "So, what's the plan now?" Yingzi asked. "Do we wait to be rescued, or do we try to leave the campus ourselves?"
"I think we can rule out waiting for someone to rescue us," Zaid replied.
"Why's that?" Chen He inquired.
"Well, as far as we can tell, the whole world is probably dealing with the same thing we are," Zaid answered, a thoughtful look in his eyes. "Considering that, the army will likely be focused on protecting important officials and reclaiming resource-rich cities. All of that is going to take a long time. Frankly, the safety of a bunch of university students and staff probably isn't high on their priority list."
" You're probably right, but even if there were rescuers coming, I don't think we should stick around, we need to check up on our families and make sure that they're safe." Wei Jun said
" In that case we should probably focus on gathering supplies and trying to clear a path to the University entrance." Chen He said
"Now that we've decided on what to do what do we do about them?" Bai Zemin asked coldly, while pointing to the survivors." I don't know about you guys, but I have no interest in dragging a bunch of deadweights around"
That Comment Caused a few of the nearby survivors to shiver in fear.
" What do you expect us to do they are still people, and we can't just leave them here to die" Chen He said with a somewhat angry look in his eyes at the thought of abandoning the survivors.
" Hey, hey no one is saying we leave them here to die but we should at least have them help us carry stuff and do the heavy lifting, maybe even give those who want the power to fight back a chance" Zaid said trying to diffuse the tension that had built up between the group.
After everyone had calmed down a bit gave Zemin a pointed look that said, ' really man you couldn't say that in a better way.' To which his only reply was a snort and Bai Zemin looking away.
'Aww is the arrogant Bai Zemin embarrassed,' Zaid thought jokingly.
" Alright I think we should rest for now and talk again in the morning" Shangguan Bing Xue said in her signature cold voice.
After, they'd all split off Bai Zemin asked Zaid to follow him and went to the cafeteria door, when they went I they saw a few zombies that they made short work of and sat down to talk.
