Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: A Bloodstained Reckoning

Ryo had only just come back, looking forward to seeing his friends and fiancées. He strolled through the academy, and then he heard a voice—a voice he knew. His heart was racing. Then there was a scream. His body reacted before he could even process it. He recognized that voice.

It was Ai.

Without delay, Ryo ran towards the source. When he got there, his blood was boiling at what he saw. Ai was trapped, shaking in terror as a cluster of students surrounded her. But these were not ordinary students.

They were the same ones who had tormented and killed him in his previous life.

The memories assault him at once. The agonizing pain of them cutting off his fingers, slashing his ears, breaking his limbs, and then throwing him into a lake to be drowned like so much rubbish. And now, doing the same thing to Ai.

A boy sneered at Ryo, utterly oblivious to having stirred him up.

"Oi, bugger off and take that human with you. We were just having a bit of fun—don't worry, we jus—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Ryo appeared in front of him in an instant, his eyes radiating fury. He grabbed the boy by the head and hurled him with such force that he smashed through several walls, landing in the academy's training field. The others barely had time to react before Ryo did the same to them, sending their bodies flying one after another until they all crashed into the training grounds.

They moaned, trying to stand. One of them held his head. "What the hell!? You broke my—" He hesitated, already healing from his wounds. "Heh, just kidding. It's already—"

Ryo was ahead of him when he could not finish, chopping off his arms and legs instantly. The others attempted to stand, but Ryo sliced them down before their regenerative qualities could take hold. And then he started hitting. Time and time again, his fists pounded into them, bones shattering under the raw power of his rage.

He might have killed them outright.

But that would have been too kind.

Their cries echoed in the air as he unleashed his vengeance, the same suffering they had unleashed on him now rebounded a hundredfold. Each of the students in the practice ground witnessed the violent scene.

When he was through, their bodies were no longer recognizable, contorted beyond redemption. With one last blow, Ryo ended their wretched lives.

Silence descended on the field.

Then, there came the sound of hurried footsteps. Selena, Seyra, and Ai came with the Vampire Lord and the Dragon Emperor. Ai had summoned them because she was worried about Ryo's safety. But what they discovered was a battlefield covered in blood.

Ryo was in the middle, his body covered in red, his eyes icy and unforgiving. He turned slowly, his eyes scanning all those who were there.

Then came the instructors. But instead of scolding the dead students, they zeroed in on Ryo, their faces full of anger. "You have the temerity to slaughter students of this academy?!" one of them shouted. "You're arrested!"

Ryo's eyes reduced. He recalled these instructors. They were the same ones who had closed their eyes to his suffering, the same ones who had laughed while he was butchered in his previous life.

He laughed menacingly. "Try it if you can."

The teachers charged at him, their purpose evident. They weren't here to take him in—they were here to kill him. But Ryo was quicker. Before they could even move, he overpowered them with sheer strength, bursting through them as if they were nothing.

Within seconds, they were dead at his feet.

And then the real powers of the academy appeared.

A strong aura filled the air as the heads of the academies came down on the battlefield. A vampire, a dragon, an elf, a dwarf, a demon, a spirit, a fairy, and even a priest from the Holy Kingdom—every head of the academy's respective factions had come.

They looked at Ryo, their faces unreadable.

And thus, the battle really started.
