Chapter 85 - Too Slow

Gali was definitely just talking—she knew how rare a prop like that was. So after Blaine shut himself off on the spot, he didn't say anything. Every 15 minutes, right on time, a planet would be produced from the watch. Right there and then, it looked like it was being chewed up.

Crunchy. Chicken-flavored.

Surprisingly delicious.

Blaine felt a little greedy watching it. But unfortunately, he knew he would never get to eat one of those planets. Even ignoring all the other factors, how could he possibly eat a planet with just his teeth?

Besides, it seemed like only Gali could eat them so enjoyably. After all, what she was consuming wasn't a planet in the traditional sense—it was the energy of the universe.

Blaine wasn't the same. He was just an ordinary person. For him, trying to gnaw on a planet would mean a mouthful of dirt. Cosmic energy? He didn't know the first thing about it.

He had spent 500 million to buy a "watch" he didn't even need. Truly, a real man's decision.

The only good thing was that now there was a super powerful girl at home.

Compared to being alone, having her around made the place feel more alive. And she looked cute—easy on the eyes.

Compared to the constant solitude he had felt before, Blaine thought this wasn't so bad.

Still, it would be even better if this cute girl, Gali, could stop eating planets all day long.

"Gali, you'll sleep in this room from now on," Blaine said, pointing to the guest room. "Try not to go out unless necessary. I'll keep you company. Later, I'll take you to see the other building…"

Although he didn't know Gali's real age, she did look like a nineteen-year-old girl. If she were a bit younger, it wouldn't be such an issue, but at that age, it was definitely inappropriate for her to sleep in the same room as him.

Otherwise, it would be too easy for Blaine, a young man in his prime, to lose control.

"I know," Gali replied.

But she rolled her eyes at Blaine's concern and said smugly, "Isn't it the XXX villa district in Manhattan?"

The corner of Blaine's mouth twitched.

This "super powerful girl" couldn't understand the system, so she liked to show off in front of him. What exactly are you even showing off!?

Of course, those words stayed in his heart.

"You just need to remember that your room is here."

The night was bright, and the stars were sparse.

A group of people which were none other than the Warriors Three of Asgard, Lady Sif and Thor himself, standing in front of Blaine's house.

"Are we really going to break in?"

"I don't even know if what that so-called director said is true…"

"Let's just go in."

Thor cast a hard glance at the door and windows.

He hadn't been on Earth long, and he had just started developing feelings for Jane.

At this stage, Thor was honestly conflicted.

He had begun to understand human nature but still retained the mindset of a God.

Before, when he was with Jane, the thought of "being mortal isn't so bad" came only because he couldn't find Mjolnir. But now that his four best friends—the Warriors Three and Sif—had arrived, he naturally regained hope.

The arrogance of Thor still lingered in his heart.

His goal was clear: get the hammer back. And if he couldn't, he wouldn't give up.

"Breaking in feels a bit wrong, doesn't it?" Sif, being a cultured Asgardian, frowned slightly.

The four of them were quite a sight—dressed in armor and unusual attire, gathered at a regular house, discussing whether to break in. If it weren't so late at night, the neighbors might've already called the cops.

"There's something off about this," said Volstagg, swinging his axe. "But if we're wrong, we just admit it and then go settle the score with that director guy!"

"Volstagg's right," Hogan and Fandral nodded in agreement.

"Fine… majority rules." Sif had no choice but to agree.

"Alright, let's just go straight in!" Thor shouted.

He rushed toward the wooden door and kicked hard toward the side.

He was Thor, after all.

Even though he'd been demoted to mortal, he was still stronger than average. Kicking in a wooden door shouldn't be a problem.

But before his foot could land—

Time stopped.

Everywhere on Earth—people, animals, objects—everything froze in place.

A Coke bottle, mid-fall, hung frozen in the air...

A young couple, mid-lovemaking...

A python, jaws wide open, seconds from striking its prey...

Even Volstagg, Hogan, Fandral, and Sif…

All of it stopped in that instant.

Inside the house, Gali's purple eyes shimmered strangely. She pursed her lips, hummed softly, and walked into Blaine's room—unaffected by the frozen time.

Because of Gali, Blaine wasn't included in the time-stop either. He was the only other moving "thing" on Earth besides her.

"Someone's trying to break in. I'll deal with it!" Gali said.

She saw Blaine already in his Hunter suit, shook her tender white hands smugly, snorted proudly, and glanced at him with disdain.

"Your speed is too slow."

Blaine could only imagine a crow flying overhead with a line of ellipses trailing behind it.

Little ancestor, I'm just an ordinary human—how am I supposed to keep up with a God like you?

In the end, Blaine had no choice but to sigh and store his Hunter suit and elemental bow back into the Hunters Space.

"Let's go downstairs and check it out."

When they went downstairs, they saw five people frozen in the living room like sculptures.

Volstagg shoulder to shoulder with Fandral.

Thor, foot raised, mid-kick.

Sif, arms crossed, face full of helplessness…

The five of them were like statues, frozen in motion.

"You brought them in?" Blaine asked Gali.

Gali snorted lightly, not bothering to deny it.

Clap!

She raised her hand and snapped her fingers crisply.

In that moment—

Time resumed.

Everything started moving again.

Thor's kick finally landed—but the door was no longer in front of him. Now, without divine control over his body, and still possessing great strength, he kicked into empty air, lost his balance, and slammed headfirst into the coffee table.

He hit so hard he nearly blacked out.

"Sh*t!"

The four warriors of Asgard, who had been joking around a second ago, instantly sensed something wrong. They grabbed their weapons and scanned their surroundings alertly—only to spot Blaine and Gali calmly sitting on the sofa.

"…Where are we all of a sudden?"

"…What is this place?"

"…Speak, boy!"
