Chapter 219 - Battle of Sokovia 2

"This is what I want…"

Ultron pointed to the energy pillar behind them.

"Avengers, against my army—can you stop me?"

Unfazed by Thor's taunt, Ultron fired back with arrogance of his own.

The Avengers, however, frowned one by one. With so many robots surrounding them, none could guarantee that one wouldn't reach the energy pillar. If even a single droid made contact, the entire city would be doomed.

"Like the old man said—fight side by side," Tony muttered, dropping his usual sarcasm and speaking with uncharacteristic seriousness.

"Roar!"

Hulk's thunderous shout echoed, both in agreement and as a challenge to the approaching swarm.

As if his roar had sounded the horn of battle, Ultron's army charged.

In an instant, waves of black metal surged toward them—robots crawling, rolling, flying, and running, like a horde of maniacs chasing blood and gold.

But the Avengers were no amateurs. Every one of them was a battle-hardened warrior.

Thor, prince of Asgard and wielder of Mjolnir, was a storm incarnate. He swung his hammer with divine fury, sparks flying as one, two, ten, twenty robots fell. Within minutes, the ground at his feet was carpeted with shattered limbs and twisted metal.

Tony, clad in his latest Mark armor, was no less formidable. Against these low-tier machines, he was an apex predator. Repulsor blasts fired in rapid succession, each shot precise and lethal. With his upgraded targeting system and new weapons, his combat efficiency even surpassed Thor's.

'Boom!'

"Be careful!" Tony shouted, blasting a droid that had been about to ambush Quicksilver. His tone was sharp—this was no time for jokes.

They couldn't afford a single mistake. Any one of these robots could house Ultron's consciousness. One misstep could mean disaster—for Sokovia, and for the entire planet.

Quicksilver, eager to prove himself as the newest Avenger, had been reckless at first—but what he did next left everyone stunned.

Moving at blinding speed, Quicksilver reached level six velocity—so fast it was as if time itself slowed. To him, everything crawled: bullets crept lazily through the air, and Tony's missiles seemed to drift forward like snails.

To the others, though, it was only a blur—a flash of silver wind. Robots couldn't track him, missiles couldn't lock onto him, and before anyone could blink, he'd already torn through their ranks. He didn't even need to strike hard; a single touch from him sent machines flying like leaves in a storm. He was a living blade cutting through weeds.

Meanwhile, his sister—the Scarlet Witch—was no less devastating. Her level six Chaos Magic surged with crimson energy, wild and unstoppable.

Suddenly, a robot leaped from the rubble, attempting to break through from above.

'Whoosh—'

Hawkeye's sharp eyes caught the movement immediately. He drew his bow and released in one smooth motion, an explosive arrow slicing through the air.

But he was still a heartbeat slower than Wanda. A flash of red light engulfed the droid, and it exploded into a shower of scrap before Hawkeye's arrow even reached it.

Wanda shot him a sly, almost mocking glance before diving back into the fray.

All around them, Thor, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Wanda fought with fierce coordination. But as the Avengers' powerhouse, the Hulk wasn't about to be outdone.

Enraged, Hulk tore through the robot legions like a living engine of destruction. He crushed one droid's head in his palm, kicked another clear across the square, and bit down on a third, ripping it apart with terrifying strength. He was the embodiment of raw, brutal force—war in its purest form.

Then there was Vision, the newest Avenger, his power amplified by the Mind Stone. Among the chaos, he was a one-man army. Flying above the church and guarding the energy pillar, Vision's movements were precise and fluid. Where others smashed or tore, he simply reached into his enemies and let energy flare. A pulse of green light—and another machine disintegrated into a rain of metal fragments.

"No… there are too many!"

Despite their power, the Avengers were being overwhelmed. Ultron's army was endless, relentless—mindless machines obeying a single command without fear or hesitation. Even an army of expendables couldn't fight like this.

"Hey, Captain!" Tony's voice came through the comms, full of mischief despite the chaos.

Before Steve could reply, two compact cannons extended from Tony's armor—one on his shoulder, one on his forearm.

"Everyone, get down!" Tony warned. "Captain, I'm borrowing your shield for a sec!"

Twin laser beams burst forth, bright and blinding.

"Oh, hell—are you serious?" Steve swore, raising his shield just in time.

The concentrated beam struck the Vibranium surface and reflected perfectly, redirecting the blast into the dense cluster of robots ahead. Steve angled the shield carefully, carving out a clear path through the mechanical horde.

Tony grinned behind his helmet. He'd used the same trick with Thor back at the HYDRA base—and it still worked beautifully.

But even Vibranium had its limits. Though the shield deflected the beam, the heat built rapidly. Within seconds, the metal glowed red-hot. Steve grit his teeth and dropped to the ground before it scorched his arm.
