Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

Back at school Kendra and Ann were very close. They were already in their final year in the university. Mitchell still couldn't help but feel guilty about what had happened two years ago. she wasn't close to Irene but at least they were good friends. Even when Irene had forgiven her she wasn't at rest. she still wanted to find out who told the school board about it and since those years she couldn't just place her finger on anyone. Something transpired between Kendra and Ann during the period of the final exams. Being friends and models Ann introduced Kendra into her industry. It was working well at first two she found out that Kendra was making advances towards their boss knowing fully well that she liked him too. It was a big problem and it caused a quarrel between them and one day Ann decided to face her.

"So what do you think your trying to do?"

"Ann it's not what you think"

"What do you want me to think Kendra? I trusted you. I give you an opportunity and you decided to pay me back this way?"

"Ann this shouldn't be a problem between us."

"Kendra I hate you and now I know why Irene did too when she was here."

"What is it with you and Irene? she's gone and she's never going to be back. I don't know why you're always talking about that thing. She's not even a girl so what do you see in her? After I did my best to make sure she was out for sure you still couldn't forget about her why?"

All these were happening in Ann's hostel and Mitchelle was around watching the drama. When Kendra blurted out everything, they were shocked and there was silence for a while. That was when Kendra realizef what she had said.

"You...you were the one that did that?" Ann asked still shocked.

"No no I meant that, that..." She stuttered a bit .

"I knew it. You were the one. You saw the photo after the photo shoot I made for you and I know how much you hated her. That's why you did it." Mitchelle finally realized.

"Then you helped me get back in and didn't agree to help Irene just so that you could cover your tracks." Kendra was mute. She didn't know what to say again. Ann was so angry that she gave Kendra a slap.

"Do you know what you did? Do you know the kind of emotions you made me pass through. Irene was my best friend. She was the only one who really understood me and because of your hatred for her, you got her expelled. You didn't even care about what she would go through."

"I think it's better for you to just go out and never come back here again and pray that Irene doesn't get to know about this or else you know what she's capable of" Mitchelle added.

Kendra respected herself and left the place. Ann broke down in tears. Mitchelle had no choice but to console her. The first thing she did after she got herself was to make sure that she cancelled everything that connected her and Kendra. She also made sure that she was fired later on that week. It took time before she got over all that had happened. She was able to go back to her normal routine but she still felt that pain at times.

"Irene had not known about all these and there was no way she could because she changed her number after she got expelled and ran away from home. She just faced her new life and went on with it. One particular night, she was in the club as usual behind the counter. She had already served everyone so there was nothing much to do. She just sat there and decided to get on with her game. She noticed that spice wasn't online but she just had to let it go. She took it that she probably had other important things to do. She played with other online friends and was really into the game when he came.

"Hey Irene." She looked up and was very annoyed.

"What do you want now Felix?"

"Nothing much. I just wanted to know if you're free."

"No I'm not, now get out" she replied and faced her phone again.

"What can a guy like me do to get the attention of a girl like you?" She didn't reply him.

"Irene come on just give me a chance and I promise I won't let you down." She still didn't respond. He looked at her for a while and noticed that she was playing the City games. Then an idea came to his mind.

"I bet I can beat you in this game." Now that got her attention. She chuckled, looked at him and asked

 "what makes you think so?"

"I play the game and I'm pretty much an expert."

 "Really?"

 " Yeah"

 "So what's your game identity?"

 "Tyga and you?"

"Viso, so you are the so-called Tyga I've been hearing about?"

 "The one and only."

 "Okay then game on"

 "One thing first."

 "What's that?"

 "Let's make it a bet."

 " Like gambling?"

"Not really, but if I win I take you on a date."

"And if I win you'll never disturb me again."

"Deal" He agreed and they added each other to their online friends. Then the game began. Felix sat on the chair in front of the counter and they chose a game that suited them both. The game was on and it was hot. They were both skilled players but they wanted to know who the best player was. Three hours and game was still on.

"Wait pause the game." Irene said and the game was paused.

 "What is it?" Felix asked

 "Customers"

"Well be fast so that I can get to beating you."

"You wish." She simply replied and went to do her job. It took time and before they knew it her shift was over.

"Don't worry we'll continue as soon as I get back home. Just be online."

"I will." Irene hurried up and packed up to go home. Immediately she got home she didn't even bother showering. She just sat down on the couch and brought out her phone. Kevin noticed that she was back and went to meet her.

 "Irene this game again?"

"Kevin you don't understand. I'm playing a new one with Felix, that guy I told you about. The one that likes me."

 "Yeah yeah I remember."

"And if I lose he'll take me on a date. That will be the end of my life Kevin."

"Don't take it serious but I wish you lose." "Of course you do."

She said and went online immediately. The game resumed and Kevin went in. After hours he came out to find her still there. The only position she changed was from sitting to lying down. He sat there because he wanted to know the winner. Not too long after, Irene exclaimed.

"No no no no no!" she sat up with force, dropped her phone and placed her face in her palms.

 "Let me guess, you lost."

"Damn it! What am I going to do now?"

"Simple, go for the date." Kevin said and smiled. He was very happy.

 "Kevin you're not helping."

"Just then a voicemail appeared and she clicked on it. It was from the game.

"Get ready for the date Viso. Nice game though." It was Tyga. She dropped the phone again and began to panic.

"I just hope he doesn't try any thing funny with me cuz I will mess him up. Infact I think I'll go. I wannna see how this goes."

 "So when is the date?"

"On Friday, that's three days from now."

"It's enough to plan for it."

"What exactly am I planning for it?"

"The dress you'll wear, the accessories and all that. I can take you shopping if you want."

 "Don't make me regret this."

"So what are you planning to do now?"

 "Just be myself, that's what."

 "Just don't break anyone okay."

"I'll try but it'll be hard."
