Chapter 127 - Chapter 127: Killing the Basilisk

"That phoenix..."

Tom sensed danger. His expression changed as he quickly drew his wand and fired a deadly curse at Fawkes.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A jet of green light shot toward the phoenix—but in that instant, Sean let out a roar. His muscles tensed, and with all his strength, he hurled the heavy tower shield forward. It spun through the air and intercepted the curse just in time. The killing curse slammed into the shield, leaving a deep dent and warping the metal. The shield crashed down with a bang, shattering several floor tiles.

Fawkes didn't slow down. He darted toward the basilisk and viciously clawed and pecked at its face. With a flurry of strikes, he tore into the serpent's eyes, blinding both in a spray of black blood. The basilisk roared, whipping its head wildly, blood splashing across the chamber.

The basilisk was blind!

Sean's chest heaved, but he grinned.

He lifted the chain hammer with his left hand. His right hand now free, he drew his wand. With no shield to weigh him down, he charged the basilisk again.

Bang!

The hammer smashed into the creature's skull. Scales cracked. Blood sprayed. The blinded basilisk thrashed in rage, lurching toward Sean by scent alone. But Sean lifted his wand and cast with precision.

From the ground, a pair of giant stone hands burst forth—one grasping the basilisk's head, the other grabbing its tail. The serpent struggled, caught tight.

Gritting his teeth, Sean leapt up and landed on the basilisk's head. He bit down on his wand to hold it in place, then gripped the chain hammer in both hands. Without hesitation, he swung again and again, pounding the monster's skull.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The chain hammer hit the basilisk's head again and again, but contrary to Sean's expectations, although the scales and blood of the basilisk's head were splattered and bloody, its skull was extremely hard. Under Sean's continuous bombardment, although there was a possibility of bone fracture, that was all—it could not cause fatal damage to the basilisk at all!

"Tsk, what a troublesome thing!"

He continued to smash with his left hand and used his right hand to grab the wand from his mouth while casting a spell.

"Sectumsempra! Sectumsempra! Sectumsempra!"

Chichichichi…

Three consecutive blood marks appeared on the basilisk's bloody head, but they had no effect at all. The basilisk's powerful magical defense was simply not something Sean's magic could penetrate.

"If magic doesn't work, then keep smashing!"

Sean gritted his teeth and was about to continue swinging the chain hammer when two consecutive explosions rang out. The two giant earth and stone hands that were binding the basilisk—already on the verge of collapse from the basilisk's struggle—were blown to pieces by Tom. The basilisk regained its ability to move and shook its head violently. Sean lost his balance and fell from the basilisk's head, and at that moment, the basilisk opened its huge mouth and bit towards him!

At that critical moment, Sean no longer cared whether Harry and Tom would notice. Black smoke surged around him as he flew into the air, narrowly avoiding the basilisk's fatal bite.

Suspended in the air, Sean swung the chain hammer down, smashing it into the basilisk's mouth. A fang broke in half, and blood gushed out. Seeing that the attack was finally effective, a smile appeared on Sean's face—but the basilisk suddenly bit down on the chain hammer and swung its head violently.

Bang!

Under the immense force of both the basilisk and Sean, the chain of the chain hammer snapped in the middle. Sean was flung away, but surrounded by black smoke, he landed on the ground without taking any damage. The basilisk shook its head again and spat out the hammer head it had bitten off, letting it clatter onto the ground. At this point, both of Sean's weapons—the chain hammer and the tower shield—had been destroyed once more.

At the same time, Tom waved his wand and completely destroyed the last tape recorder. The rooster's crowing came to an abrupt halt, and the mandrake was completely burned by Tom's magic. The symphony of death ended entirely, and the basilisk was no longer affected by the sound. It slowly stretched its massive body and let out a roar in Sean's direction.

Looking at Tom standing behind the basilisk, Sean grinned. Just as he was about to draw his wand and go all out, Harry's voice suddenly rang out from behind him.

"Sean, watch out—catch!"

Hearing Harry's voice, Sean turned his head instinctively. In that moment, a flash of silver streaked past his cheek, and with a ding, something landed at his feet.

Turning around, Sean immediately recognized what Harry had thrown.

The Sword of Gryffindor!

A golden hilt, a silver blade, and a guard inlaid with red gemstones.

It was the sword left behind by Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts!

Legend said that only those with the true qualities of a Gryffindor were worthy to draw the sword.

Sean stared at the sword at his feet, and for a brief second, he hesitated—wondering if a Slytherin like him could even lift it.

But the moment his hand gripped the hilt, he realized—

He had been worrying for nothing.

Zheng!A clear, ringing sound echoed out.

Sean held the Sword of Gryffindor in one hand. As the basilisk charged toward him again, he raised the sword with both hands—then slashed down with all his strength!

Chi…

With a single swipe of the sword, the basilisk's tough scales and flesh were sliced open effortlessly by the Sword of Gryffindor, as if they were made of mud. Even the snake bones—bones that Sean had struck countless times without much effect—were now deeply scratched by the blade.

The basilisk rolled on the ground, roaring in pain. Sean looked at the injuries on its body. They seemed serious, but none of them had struck vital parts or internal organs. The reason was simple: the Sword of Gryffindor was just too short.

Staring at the gleaming blade in his hand—completely unstained by blood—Sean said helplessly,"If it were just a bit longer, I could've killed the basilisk with that blow. No matter how painful it is, a toothpick can't finish the job if it doesn't hit something vital."

Turning to the basilisk again, Sean let the black smoke surge around him. He no longer planned to hide. He would use his flying ability to locate the basilisk's weak spot, strike it with the sword, and after finishing this guy off, focus on the other matters.

With this thought in mind, Sean prepared to take off.

But at that moment, he suddenly felt the Sword of Gryffindor in his hand shift—its weight increased, becoming much heavier.

Turning around in surprise, he saw that the Sword of Gryffindor had grown. From a one-handed sword, it had extended to the length of a two-handed blade.

Pausing for a moment, Sean looked at the sword and muttered to himself,"Don't tell me your full name is Gryffindor's Wish-Fulfilling Sword…"

Then, narrowing his eyes, he grinned."Since you can grow, then grow—grow much bigger!"

As Sean shouted, the Sword of Gryffindor expanded again, transforming into a three-meter-long greatsword!

Gripping the hilt tightly with both hands, Sean faced the charging basilisk and swung the giant sword with full force. No flourish, no trick—just a single, devastating slash.

And just like that, the enormous body of the basilisk—

Was cleaved clean in two.
