Chapter 9 - "The Two Women’s Battlefield."

-----

-----

"You're still thinking of being a director? All you do is flirt with girls. Go meet some real directors and producers in the crew, build up some connections, it'll be much better for you."

Elizabeth looked at David with a mix of frustration and disbelief.

David sneered dismissively. "Build connections? Who'd want to know a small fry like me? If the status difference is too big, don't even bother trying. Otherwise, you'll just look like a sycophant."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes, but at the same time, he had to admit that David's reasoning was on point.

Being a suck-up has no future.

Unless you're offering something big, or lowering yourself to do some humiliating tasks, why would anyone take you seriously?

"Don't you flirt with girls?" Elizabeth asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You can insult me all you want, but don't insult my face. Do I need to beg to flirt with girls?" David shot back.

Elizabeth was left speechless.

Damn it. He couldn't argue back. How the hell did this bastard end up with such a pretty face?

A natural flirt magnet!

David raised an eyebrow. "And, by the way, I still have some professional ethics. At least I'm not flirting with the women in the crew, right?"

Nicole doesn't count, since that was before he officially joined the crew.

David silently added in his mind.

Elizabeth and Barbara exchanged looks. After hearing him say that, it really did seem to be the case.

Unbelievable.

This guy actually has professional ethics!

Hengdian.The Skywind Studio Drama Crew.

This time, it's different from David's previous life, where Skywind Studio was already wrapped up. Now, they're only just filming it.

And it's being shot as two parts back-to-back.

During this time, nearly every female star in the crew has already been hit on by David.

Sophia is one of the few that hasn't fallen for his charms yet.

"You're gonna pass up a guy who bought you a movie deal worth five million and asked you to drink with the theater head? Are you really just gonna let him slip through your fingers?"

"It's not 'gave,' it's 'borrowed.' Charles will pay me back."

Sophia looked at David seriously. "Don't come looking for me again. I'm worried Charles might misunderstand."

Looking at her retreating back, David had the expression of someone who'd just been screwed over.

"Love brain, seriously invincible!"

Love brains are the most terrifying creatures in the dating world. Once they latch onto you, there's no escaping.

Once they're hooked, it's hard to flirt with them anymore.

Who would've guessed that Sophia, with her intelligent, composed face, would actually be a love brain?

"David, I made you some chicken soup, come try my cooking. If it's not good, I'll improve it."

Agnes, playing Rose in Skywind Studio II, brought over a heartfelt lunch.

Chicken soup with goji berries.

Her eyes sparkled with an unspoken intent, as if tonight she planned to take David for everything he was worth.

"Wow, Yirong, you made this yourself? The chicken soup smells so good!"

Dorothy showed up uninvited and pulled up a chair, sitting down next to David.

The two women exchanged looks, and there was a flash of tension in the air.

David acted like he didn't notice, calmly eating his chicken leg and drinking the soup.

The taste was pretty good.

The battlefield of love wasn't anything new to him.

He'd long gotten used to it.

"David, who do you think is prettier, me or her?"

Dorothy looked at David, smiling faintly, then asked in a teasing manner.

Damn it.

Starting with the deathtrap question?

How do you defend yourself from this?

After finishing the chicken leg and drinking the soup, David wiped his mouth and said casually:

"I love my mom, she's magnificent."

Dorothy and Chen Yirong: …

This answer clearly didn't satisfy the two beauties. Dorothy pressed on, with an air of mystery.

"Heh, if your girlfriend heard this answer, she definitely wouldn't let you off the hook."

"Only the country and the people have the right to test me!"

David's eyes were as firm as if he were about to join the Communist Party.

Taking advantage of the two women being momentarily stunned, he quickly made his escape.

He couldn't help it. He had already "eaten" both of them, thoroughly, at that.

If he stayed any longer, he might end up with his bones ground to dust.

"Yirong, what do you think of David?"

Chen Yirong looked at Dorothy, both being Taiwanese actresses and somewhat familiar with each other.

"He's handsome, talented, funny, and I kind of like him."

Dorothy blinked. "What kind of like? Don't tell me you're falling for him?"

"Is that a problem?"

Chen Yirong smiled back.

It wasn't just a crush. She'd already acted on it. That night, David invited her for some late-night snacks, and after a few drinks…

That night, they'd done the deed, and the next day, she called in sick, saying she wasn't feeling well.

In reality, he was just too intense, and she hadn't recovered yet.

Dorothy's expression stiffened as she gritted her teeth. "He's a good guy, but I'd advise you to keep your eyes open. I think he's a bit of a scumbag…"

Chen Yirong immediately got annoyed. "Gossiping behind someone's back isn't a good habit."

"'Gossiping'? Please, I still have a red mark on my ass from last night, from that bastard."

The female actresses in the crew had all but been caught in David's net. And this silly woman still had no idea.

Dorothy rolled her eyes without a word.

"Do what you want. I'm just giving you a heads-up, coming from one Taiwanese girl to another. Whether you listen or not is up to you."

With that, Dorothy walked off.

After Dorothy left, Chen Yirong sighed and fell silent.

Deep down, she actually agreed with Dorothy's words. She wasn't completely clueless.

The atmosphere in the crew, especially among the female actresses, had become more and more strange since David arrived.

She suddenly realized she couldn't quite grasp David…

But at the same time, she wasn't ready to just give up.

Because David had given her an experience that was too good to let go.

Not just the emotional experience of love, but the physical experience, too—it was top-tier.

Just like Chen Yirong, all the other actresses in the Skywind Studio crew who'd been with David shared the same thoughts.

They were all wondering: what if? What if I'm the special one, the one who can make him settle down?

It's worth noting:

Every one of David's ex-girlfriends had thought the same way...

The actresses in the Skywind Studio crew were constantly fighting for attention, and everywhere you turned, there was drama. The wise big sister, Jessica, had wrapped up her filming and left.

With no one left to turn to, David could only chat with the gorgeous big sister.

That would be Alice, who played the role of Blackwood's mother and the first beauty of the martial world, Aurora.

Aurora, a powerful woman.

Only the strongest of the strongest in Skywind Studio were worthy of her.

Tall, curvy, with a knowing, sexy aura, she was top-tier for mature women.

"Running to me because you've got nowhere else to go?"

Alice could tell exactly what was going on. It was so obvious, even a fool could figure it out.

Alice's eyes practically ate David alive.

"Greedy, eyeing the food in both the bowl and the pot. A man like you, bold and shameless, is a rare sight."

David wouldn't admit it: "Alice, don't wrong me. It's not my fault they can't get along, what does that have to do with me?"

Peaceful coexistence?

What are you, some power broker with three estates and six patios?

You think the head honcho's inner circle is free of scheming, envy, and suspicion?

Alice rolled her eyes: "Are you trying to fool me, little pervert? Using your good looks and sweet talk to fool little girls, you've already ruined plenty of them, right?"

David: "Alice, don't slander me."

"Since you've been staring at my chest this whole time, is that slander?"

"I meant, I'm not small."

"....."
