The pain was so much that all she could wish for was her own death.
Steam started rising from Three's unmoving body; the temperature around her spiked suddenly.
Noticing the situation, both the supervisors moved; the skinny guy reached Six in a blink of an eye and brought him to a safe distance. This sudden change caused Six to lose the knife, as it fell near the foot of Three.
whereas The fat guy moved to Three to check her condition; as soon as he touched her, he felt her body was like a furnace, and the temperature was rising; her skin started turning more and more red. The fat guy decided to put her out of commission by knocking her out, thinking that would be enough to stop whatever was happening.
But, even after he hit her at the back of the neck, enough to put her out cold for three days straight. But even then the phenomenon didn't stop, and soon the temperature rose to such a level that even the fat guy was not able to bear it.
He dropped the girl and moved to a safer location where Six and the skinny guys were. He brought his right hand to his mouth; there, on his index finger, was a black ring with a '6' symbol on it. As soon as he brought that ring near his face, it started glowing.
Six was both shocked and fascinated with all that was happening: the change caused by the girl, the fast movement the skinny guy showed, which was not humanly possible, and even the ring that glowed. These things caused the number of questions in his mind to rise, but he knew he needed to wait, and slowly – slowly, he would uncover everything.
"Ma'am, We have a strange situation at our place; it is out of our control." The fat guy spoke to the ring as if there was someone sitting inside the ring, but something strange happened, as after a few moments passed since the fat guy spoke, a voice actually came from the ring.
"Okay, I am coming." And the connection was cut off as the glow dimmed and the ring went back to its original black colour.
Three was lying on the ground, starting to radiate more heat; now even steam was rising from her, and the condition just worsened, as after a little while the ground she was lying on started turning; the weapon, which was left behind by Six, had already started melting because of the intense heat.
Six, The Fat Guy and The Skinny Guy couldn't do anything but just watch and wait for the women whom Fat Guy contacted about the situation.
The place was like the inside of an active volcano. Furthermore, it was becoming challenging to simply stand there when someone arrived; Six recognised her as the same woman who had introduced herself as "The Sixth Finger" when they first arrived.
She soon noticed the situation, and begin to access; then she looked over to Six, and said,
"The trial is over, and this young one passed, so take him to his new home." The skinny guy patted Six on his shoulder as if asking him to follow him.
Though Six didn't like the bad condition here, he really wanted to know what was happening, as whatever was happening here was not something simple; it was something.
'magical'
This was the word that came to his mind, but this raised one more question.
'Is magic like the law of physics or was it something mysterious?' He was not able to answer the question; it was like he had the answer and not at the same time.
One part of him was feeling odd at the thought of magic, as if this was something not real, but another part treated it as something normal.
'Well, This adds one more question for me to find answer to.' Six sighed, as he really didn't know anything.
Then his thoughts drifted to the person—the woman who arrived there. She looked at the situation, assessed it, and made her decision in just a few seconds.
'Well, you don't reach that high position by just strength alone.'
As Six was busy in his thoughts, he didn't realise they had reached their destination.
Coming out of his stupor, Six looked at the door in front of him that led into what seemed like a small room for a single person with some commodities.
'This will be your accommodation from now on; rest here till you are called.' Six didn't understand what happened at first, as the skinny guy didn't even open his mouth. But somehow this statement entered Six's mind.
Six just nodded and closed the door of this room.
'Telepathy!' that was definitely telepathy, so magic really exist.' Six started pacing around his room as he thought all this, but soon he came to a stop.
'Yeah, magic exists, but what's so crazy about it? Why am I behaving like this? What is this? Just what am I? And what is my past?' The same question arose again, but Six didn't have any answer to it.
So, all he could do was lie in the bed and rest for real, as he was beyond tired, not just physically but even more mentally.
So he drifted into his dream world for the first time ever since waking up, as last night he was not able to sleep at all.
...
Back at the place where Six and others had their trial, various individuals were present.
If six were present, he would only be able to recognise only two people: the lady who introduced herself as the Sixth Finger and the fat guy. But other than these two, there were 10 more individuals present, each unique and different in their own aspect.
The one who stood out the most was a single individual, calmly observing the situation, his tall frame draped in a dark, weathered cloak that billowed slightly as he moved. His black hair, streaked with silver, was kept short but unruly, falling messily over his forehead. A thin scar ran across his left cheek, a remnant of battles past, and his piercing dark eyes seemed to see right through the room, where everything was in flames.
