Chapter 98 - CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN

Alexander hurriedly made his way to the office where the father and son were. He hears gunshots inside the warehouse. He found the father and son talking, but Bernard signaled him not to enter yet.

He looked around inside and outside; there were no enemies lurking.

That bastard. He concluded that the individual in question was Felix. Upon discovering Felix's true identity, they promptly attempted to kill and silence him, but Felix outwitted them.

His twisted mind—he's really something else. He could only shake his head at what he was thinking. He couldn't hear the conversation between the father and son, but he suddenly became alarmed by the gunshots he heard; he stood up to grab his weapon.

He only noticed that a sharp object was pointed at his neck.

"Don't let your guard down, Alexander." He said he heard the cocking of his gun.

Even without turning around, he recognized his voice.

"You got me there, Charles." He said.

He noticed that the companion of Charles had already entered. The father and son were alarmed by them.

He aimed at Giovane, but a bullet struck him in the side. He felt the kick Charles gave him and shot him in the leg, causing him to kneel and cry out in pain.

He still aimed at Giovane back then, so they were alarmed and confused as to why he was shooting Giovane. It was clear on their faces that they couldn't believe what he had done now.

"Sir! Get out of here." He even said.

"Alexander." He called out to William, who immediately shot at Bernard, but Bernard quickly hid behind the wall.

However, the bullet caught him in the foot, causing him to walk with a limp.

Giovane glanced back at him, his breathing shallow due to the bullet's impact.

He also fell to the ground when he felt his leg give out; he could no longer feel one of his legs.

He heard Giovane laugh, forcing himself to crawl.

"You really are pathetic, Alexander. Do you think that everything you are doing now, do you think he will recognize it?" Giovane asked him.

"You both are pathetic; you believe that man, you believe his promises." He noticed a man sitting there, seemingly watching them crawl on the ground.

"Jake, so you're really here." Giovane said and laughed again.

"Yeah, well, look at yourselves now." He addressed them and shook his head in disbelief.

"You think I don't know what's happening to you, Alexander? When your father died, you were the one who continued to be Bernard's right-hand man. He won't recognize you…"

Sensing his surroundings, he remained silent, disregarding any mention of loyalty. For him, it was to regain the property taken by Fuego from the Socorro, where his father had been a business partner in running the illegal market. Due to Fuego's greed, they secretly killed his father and took over.

He laughed.

"Yeah? Why, Giovane, did anything change? Did anything change when you gave your whole self to that man? He didn't recognize you as his child." He used to say that.

"You come from a Roman family, where you were abandoned by your family." He even laughed at that time.

"Stop that nonsense. Are you sure I am unaware of what occurred? Please refrain from influencing his thoughts any further. Jake told him, his voice clearly showing anger.

"Why are you angry now?" Alexander asked, laughing. He reached for his gun.

He heard a click behind him then.

Tsk. He couldn't move because of the wound he had sustained.

He smiled and immediately shot Jake, but it only grazed him.

He felt blood on his arm but didn't notice that Giovane had shot him while sweat dripped down his face.

"You know me well, Alexander; I won't stop until I get my revenge. I don't give a fuck about what memory I have now; I will hold onto that." Giovane said.

"Oh, really? That's why you can't defend your so-called siblings." He even said.

He heard a gunshot, and he noticed that his side was bleeding. Felix even stared at him, signaling him to be quiet. He immediately turned his back on him as if nothing had happened.

He shot him without looking; he felt dizzy, the surroundings spinning around him.

Despite what happened, is this my fate? Alexander wondered in his mind.

Maybe I'm very selfish; I just hope that two is okay. He could only say it while he was on the brink of death.

I didn't even get to take back what was yours, Dad.

His eyelids slowly began to close.

"Let's go." Felix's voice had authority.

He forced his eyes open, struggling to resist his dying body.

I will take this revenge of yours, Felix. If you let me attack you now, this will be my last bullet. I will make sure you'll be dead.

He pointed his gun at Felix, who was walking.

"Felix!" shouted their companion. He immediately pulled the trigger, and as the bullet hit the body, he right away fell down.

However, the bullet struck Giovane instead of Felix, causing him to fall down immediately.

"Giovane, hang in there." This is all he heard from Jake.

"Go on, you can go—I'm with Mommy now." He even claimed to have witnessed someone pushing Jake.

He had no strength left, lying face down as he looked at Giovane's battered body, struggling to breathe. The surroundings fell silent, and he saw Felix desperately trying to pull Jake away from where his body had collapsed.

Felix just looked at the two of them, especially Giovane.

"I'm not regretting having been your friend since we were kids. I'm happy that your memories have returned, Giovane." They immediately ran away and escaped, just like Bernard did back then.

"Is it really now that your true memories are coming back, Giovane? What terrible timing this is, and you're such a pathetic loser."

He felt that it was slowly losing its life; he also felt a chill throughout his body, the beating of his heart gradually weakening, and he wanted to sleep more because his body was tired.
