Chapter 204 - Volume 3 Chapter 37 / Chapter 203: Yun Jiujiu, Wants to Run Away

Volume 3 Chapter 37 / Chapter 203: Yun Jiujiu, Wants to Run Away

The next morning, as the golden sunrise bathed Jiuquan Peak, it illuminated the giant jade gourd statue at the summit, making it appear lifelike.

Beneath the statue, countless muscular disciples were swinging their heavy blunt swords, each weighing hundreds of pounds, as they practiced the peak's signature sword technique—"Mountain Dwelling Sword Intent."

In Shadowmoon Sword Sect, there's a saying: a sword's character must match the wielder's.

The "Mountain Dwelling Sword Intent" is a technique of extreme rigidity and masculinity, emphasizing the principle of "one force breaking ten strategies."

As a result, most of Jiuquan Peak's disciples were rather simple-minded "brutes," much like their peak master.

To the disciples and maids of the peak, Yun Jiujiu was seen as a bold, carefree, and domineering figure, more like a big brother than a lady.

In informal settings, they wouldn't call her "Second Young Mistress"; instead, they would address her as "Sister Jiu" or "Big Sis."

However, today, "Sister Jiu" seemed just a little bit different...

...

In the corridors of Yunjiu Manor, two or three tall maids approached Yun Jiujiu's bedroom, carrying clothes and basins of water.

Knock, knock—

"Sister Jiu, are you up? We've brought your clothes."

"Oh, oh! Come in!!!"

The voice from inside sounded slightly panicked, causing the maids outside to exchange puzzled glances.

Creak—

The lead maid pushed the door open, and after passing the screen, they were all stunned by what they saw.

Yun Jiujiu was sitting at her dressing table.

Her usual blonde hair, typically tied up in two large buns, was now loose, cascading down her shoulders in slight curls.

Her face was heavily made up, resembling a theatrical opera character.

The dressing table was cluttered with various powders and cosmetics, and on a nearby hanger, a golden embroidered dress and a pair of soft, golden silk shoes were laid out.

Noticing the silence, Yun Jiujiu turned to see the maids frozen in place, frowning slightly, she asked, "What's the matter?!"

The lead maid, after hesitating, stepped forward, placed the clothes she was holding to the side, and asked, "Sister Jiu, why are you...?"

"I was just trying it out. Do you think it looks good?" Yun Jiujiu seemed pleased with her snow-white skin and rosy complexion, asking, "Do I look like a proper lady now?"

The maids were embarrassed; to them, Yun Jiujiu looked more like a little boy who had played with his mother's makeup, but they dared not say so.

The lead maid forced a smile and said, "How about we help you with the makeup, Sister Jiu?"

"Then that wouldn't be my own work, would it? Tsk..." Yun Jiujiu pouted, looking at herself in the mirror with growing disdain.

She never liked those delicate and frail girls and couldn't understand why men were so fond of them.

But...

Remembering yesterday, how Brother Yu was around that girl who followed Yun Xi, she felt deeply irritated.

"Alright, you can help me. By the way, has Brother Yu gotten up yet?"

"Ah, Young Master Feng went to practice swordsmanship at the training ground. He should be back soon; we've been told to prepare roast chicken for him."

"Oh, then go ahead, make me look nice."

The maid behind her felt both pleased and troubled.

Smiling wryly, she picked up a comb and began fixing Yun Jiujiu's hair.

As she worked, the maid, seeing Yun Jiujiu's gloomy expression in the mirror, couldn't resist asking, "Sister Jiu, are you dressing up for Young Master Feng?"

"Yes." Yun Jiujiu admitted frankly. "Yesterday, when Doctor Chen was treating my injury, I had him check Brother Yu too. He said Brother Yu has a Heavenly Spiritual Root. I was shocked—an unaffiliated cultivator with a Heavenly Spiritual Root."

"Heavenly Spiritual Root?" The maid was equally surprised. "Then why would Young Master Feng be a wandering cultivator? Wouldn't joining a sect be better for resources and training?"

Yun Jiujiu smirked and replied, "I asked him. He said he doesn't like the restrictions of sect life; he wants to roam freely. So, I'm thinking, maybe I should leave the sect with him. Life outside could be nice too."

"Huh?" The maid stopped combing, looking at her in disbelief. "Sister Jiu, are you trying to cater to Young Master Feng?"

Yun Jiujiu frowned and replied, "Cater? No."

"Then why... would you consider leaving with him?"

"Well—my father is about to finish his seclusion, and judging by the situation, he'll likely make Yun Yiyi the Sect Master. If she becomes the Sect Master, why should I stay? I'd just be stifled here."

"..."

"Just in time, I met Brother Yu. He's traveled everywhere and has a Heavenly Spiritual Root. I'll be better off with him than staying in the Shadowmoon Sword Sect. And to be honest, I quite like him."

The maid was momentarily speechless.

She knew that the eldest Young Mistress and Sister Jiu didn't get along, and that Sister Jiu had once beaten the eldest Young Mistress black and blue.

However, this seemed a bit much, so she said, "Sister Jiu, the eldest Young Mistress is still your blood sister. Even if she becomes the Sect Master, I don't think she'll make things too difficult for you."

"Do you know her?!" Yun Jiujiu frowned, glaring at her. "She's so scheming! Trust me, if she becomes the Sect Master, I'll have a miserable time. If it were our third sister, it might be different, but her? No way. I don't trust her."

"Then... you're just going to leave? What about the disciples and servants of Jiuquan Peak?"

"You can stay if you want, or come with me and Brother Yu. We could open a tavern in an immortal city, live freely—wouldn't that be great?"

The maid felt something was seriously wrong.

She hesitated for a moment and then asked, "Sister Jiu, you've only known Young Master Feng for half a month. What if he's just pretending to be nice?"

"No way." Yun Jiujiu waved dismissively, confidently stating, "Brother Yu is very straightforward! He's got no hidden agendas, says what's on his mind, and is smart. Life with him will be great, trust me!"

The maid's expression twisted with mixed emotions.

Yun Jiujiu said Feng Yu was straightforward, but in her eyes, Yun Jiujiu was the truly straightforward one.

This decision was probably made on a whim, and if it were a minor issue, it would be fine.

But this was a critical turning point in her immortal journey, a decision that would shape Yun Jiujiu's future.

But the maid also knew that once Yun Jiujiu made a decision, no amount of persuasion would change her mind.

While she didn't like tattling, the maid decided she would tell the elders about this in a few days to have them talk to her.

The three maids busied themselves, and before long, they had transformed Yun Jiujiu from a tomboy into a delicate, charming young lady.

Yun Jiujiu stood before the full-length mirror, barely recognizing herself.

Her slightly curled golden hair cascaded down to her waist, a gold-and-white long dress trailing on the floor, revealing her slender shoulders.

She looked like a heavenly maiden descended to earth, brimming with youthful energy and charm.

But...

Yun Jiujiu frowned, glancing at the maids and inhaled sharply, "Hiss—why did you make me look just like Yun Yiyi from years ago?"

Sister Jiu, you're sisters, and with your height and... flat chest, you ended up looking like the eldest Young Mistress in her younger years no matter what I do, thought the maid, speechless. She replied, "Didn't you want to look more ladylike?"

"Ladylike, yes, but not like that weakling Yun Yiyi. This won't do; Brother Yu definitely won't like it. Redo it, make me look more like that girl named Pei who's with Yun Xi. Brother Yu likes that kind of look."

"Pei?"

The maid didn't recognize the name but had a general idea. She said, "Alright, Sister Jiu, please wait a moment while I fetch more clothes."
