Chapter 8 - LITLLE BY LITTLE

Another person was approaching, their boots striking the ground loudly. They entered the room, not caring about the atmosphere that prevailed there. It was Chief Minh Vu who had just entered the room, her expression as impassive as usual.

She advanced and greeted the two people facing Alfie and Den, her face still just as unexpressive, and greeted them, then turned towards Den and his brother.

"Den, Alfie, forgive me for yesterday." Immediately, she bowed to apologize, then straightened up and resumed the conversation.

"Let's start over from the beginning. Yes, you were accepted by the guild, however, along the way, the orders were modified. The Spirit Circle being a delicate circle with a lack of recruits in the guild, the masters decided to form a group under my direction, and you two were accepted into it. Marie and Mr. Matsumoto here will be in charge of your interview and training, and you will have a new recruit and a team leader and will all live in this manor. Any questions?"

No one could speak. Her words were clear. Alfie and Den had now completed the first step of their goal: to be part of the guild.

The two accepted the chief's words, who turned towards Marie and Mr. Matsumoto.

"Oh... one last thing, this manor is our HQ. We must show the masters that they can trust us, so I'm counting on you! Your team leader and other members will arrive tomorrow. With that, I'm going to my office" said the chief, leaving the room.

Everything was clear now; this was where they would fulfill their duty. Mr. Matsumoto approached the two boys.

"Don't worry about Minh Vu boys. She may seem a little scary but she is very kind. Come on, let's start over," he said, opening his arms for a hug.

They were embarrassed, but it was the best way to ease the atmosphere. They would now live together.

"Come on, Marie, you too!" said Den. She was still sulking but eventually gave in and joined them.

"But tell me, boys, do you have any luggage to collect? Any family?" asked Mr. Matsumoto, looking inquisitive.

The two young men, in response to their interlocutor, briefly looked serious before offering a big smile in return and affirmed at the same time,

"No, it's just the two of us" while looking at them proudly.

Immediately, Marie stepped forward, "I have an idea, let's have a party!"

And everyone joyfully agreed...
